Positive:
Convenient location: The airport is located within the city limits, which makes it easy to get to the center of Almaty.
Developed infrastructure: The airport has shops, restaurants and cafes, recreation areas and duty-free, which makes waiting for flights more comfortable.
International destinations: The airport offers a variety of international flights, making it easier to travel abroad.
Minuses:
Congestion during peak hours: During periods of the greatest flow of passengers, the airport can be crowded, creating queues for check-in and screening, especially during the holiday season.
Bus stops: Buses stop far from the airport, and you have to walk to the terminal. It is more convenient to get there by taxi or by your own car.
The need for an update: I would like to see more modern and updated terminals.
The new building of the international airport in Almaty is convenient, as you can quickly get here from almost any hotel, from anywhere in the city, documents are processed fairly quickly - tickets, boarding passes, and so on. If there is a flight delay due to the fault of the company, you will be provided with drinks and hot dishes, perhaps eventually a waiting room. It will be expanded, as it does not always accommodate a large number of people, especially when there is a flight delay due to non-flying weather.
Excellent modern airport. It is a pity that there are no national souvenirs at the airport except chocolates. I would like to be able to take away something national.
Everything is clean and comfortable. Good cafes. There are still few shops. The staff is the maximum of politeness and friendliness. Everyone is friendly. It was very pleasant to arrive and leave. Parking is a little weird. It is clear that we still need to work on it.
Probably one of my favorite airports in Kazakhstan. I can't explain the reason, I just feel cozy and comfortable there)) The interior is very clean, the staff is always on hand, and they will answer questions and tell you what and where, there are many eateries on the territory, where reasonable prices and delicious food, souvenirs are also not sky-high prices (compared to other cities),so, so far, this is my favorite among the country's airports☺️
Mini Istanbul Airport)) cleanly neat. The staff is polite and helpful. I am very surprised by the hospitality of Almaty residents. There are polite guys at customs and passport control. The only thing I didn't like was how, before passport control, a woman told another employee about the seizure of chocolate from another passenger who was after me. (He wanted chocolate) Fortunately, I understand Kazakh)). Fortunately, they did not withdraw it
I like small airports, they have something soulful in them, or maybe I'm just nostalgic. In any case, I liked the airport, everything is compact and clean. The only thing I didn't like and why I'm shooting a star is people. Specifically, people who come up to you from the doorstep and ask you to take their luggage / keys / folder with documents. I haven't seen this for a long time, so I felt a double shock. I do not know who is doing this, although no, I know a friend fell for it, then he sat in the security service and explained himself. In general, the airport is good 👍
A magnificent new building! Everything is for people, a lot about people. Clean, bright, spacious, no fuss, no hustle!
Registration is instant, no more than 5 minutes.
Cafe areas, food for every taste and budget.
As a smoker, the smoking area is important to me, and it is there, spacious, well-equipped, and maintained by caring staff with cleanliness and order!
Fly to Almaty, you will be welcome!
the staff works perfectly knowing their business, in the waiting room, the prices are expected to be horse-like in the whole of Almaty. parking, usually everyone comes there by taxi, but there is quite a place for units, but they will not squeeze through during rush hour. clean, cleaned around the clock. inspection and control are also comfortable, but I will not assume 100% here. the terminal is also clean. the airport itself is located not far from the mountain ranges, although to be honest, Almaty itself is located in the mountains. I do not envy those who live near the airport, but this is completely different. and so the airport is great.
I really liked the airport! Clean, cozy, spacious! There is enough free space for everyone to sit! A vending machine with drinking water, come and pour it into a bottle. The toilets are very clean. Huge duty free! The airport staff is friendly! You can spend time comfortably enough waiting for your flight! And what a view from the windows....Fantastic!!!!
I fly often and have visited many airports, but this one definitely deserves attention. Everything is thought out here for the convenience of passengers: clean and spacious waiting rooms, comfortable chairs, many cafes and shops. The airport staff is polite and attentive, always ready to help with any questions. I especially liked the departure area, where you can relax and unwind before the flight. Overall, the airport has left a positive impression, and I will be happy to return here again.
A large and convenient airport. There are few waiting areas in the check-in area. There is plenty of room in the departure area... Big, but expensive, duty free. There are toilets everywhere, but they don't have time to serve them, probably because of the large flow of passengers with different levels of hygiene, upbringing and selfishness... Food is expensive and difficult to eat: coffee, rolls, water, chocolates... The selection of souvenirs is small, the prices are high. The staff is inconspicuous. It should be understood that the city is often smogged (or unable to :) and foggy, flights are delayed or transferred to an alternate airfield (Bishkek, for example). The impression is still good: the building is modern and large, everything is there... The airport is located within the city, transport accessibility is good. Taxi to the center 1500 - 2000 tenge. There is public transport, running smoothly.
Clean, comfortable, the staff and passport control staff are very different. There are just mega-positive and friendly people, and there are very few... in general, it is difficult to get lost, everything is intuitive and every sign is duplicated in Russian.
Beautiful view from the airport!
January,2024,Kazakhstan
This is our first time here, so we are curious to begin to plunge into the atmosphere that exists in this still fraternal country.
The airport is large, convenient, understandable, beautiful, modern. It has been widely known since the first flights on the Moscow - Alma-Ata route of our elegant TU-144 supersonic airliner!
At the moment, this air harbor continues to expand. It seems to have been bought by the Turks and is making it even more modern, but in its own way. Even now, the airport is considered one of the best in the CIS countries, although the city has ceased to be the face of Kazakhstan.
There was a guy in his forties at the next table in the cafe. Word for word, we got to talking. We met. It turned out that he was a local and needed to meet someone, but the flight was postponed. He and we have "loomed" four hours of free time. The young Kazakh himself offered to selflessly walk around the apple capital and show something memorable.
While walking along the snow-covered streets of Almaty, in front of some college, we came across a flock of young people animatedly discussing something of their own right on the sidewalk. They did not notice an elderly Slavic-looking couple who were struggling because of the traffic jam on the way. Our volunteer Asset whispered something to them in his own language. The crowd was blown away like a steppe wind! They stared at the backs of the waddling inconspicuous old men for a long time and wondered why they were so reverently taken care of by a Kazakh the same age as their fathers.
Our sherpa philosopher said with bitterness and disappointment: "Even 15 years ago, such disrespect for elders was not possible! Unfortunately, this is a bad symptom."
For Russians, such impressions were a pleasant bonus, but not the last one.
Dear Kazakh friend Asset, it is not necessary to take us to the cable car in the very center of the city. Here, as if by chance, he led us to the monument to the founder of Kazakh poetry and prose, Abai Kunanbayev. He took pictures of us and read us some quotes from his works from memory. Immediately, to my shame, I had to admit that I was not ready to discuss anything except the contemporary singer Rosa Rymbaeva and the book, a little naive by today's standards on ethical topics - "Words of Edification", published in Russian back in the sixties, and even the poetic sample of Abai "Iskander", which did not intrigue me at that time. I didn't even realize it was a poem about Alexander the Great. I haven't read anything else from Abai. Or I forgot everything. I don't know which is worse.
Our casual guide to Almaat poured out of a cornucopia the names of Kazakh people who had met maybe a couple of times in their entire lives and were completely new to me. He named Timur Bekmambetov, Askar Egeubayev, Ravil Aitkaliyev and several others. He stood there and nodded, red with shame. He scolded himself terribly that he was too lazy to search the Internet for anything about the luminaries of Kazakh culture. While he was flaunting his knowledge, a single name popped up in my brain quite by accident, which I once met in my youth in my favorite "Literature". Timidly, because I was not sure if he was Kazakh, I said: "Well, Mukhtar Auezov?"
There was a pause. Then the question is: "Who is this?" Oh, then I took the initiative and carried it! "What, you don't know who is the author of the four-volume novel "The Way of Abai? Well, you know!"
I somehow managed to overcome only the first volume. In my opinion, he is the most dynamic and tells about the formation of Ibrahim's difficult character in front of the monument to which we stood.
That's right, only once in my long life I was rescued by the childhood habit of reading everything in a row, or maybe just the love of "Literature".
I had to urgently change the topic to sports and football in order to exhaust the embarrassment that had happened. Here he proved himself to be a much greater expert than in Kazakh literature!
It's a convenient and quite efficient airport, it's small, but you still need to eat there, have a snack and drink coffee. For me, the main thing is to be quick and polite, and that the coffee is delicious and that the flights leave on schedule, everything else is secondary to me.
Almaty International Airport is a key transport hub in Kazakhstan and one of the busiest airports in the country. Overall, it makes a positive impression due to its functionality and convenience.
The first thing worth noting is the convenient location of the airport, just a few kilometers from the city center. This makes it accessible to both locals and tourists.
The architecture of the terminals combines modern style and elements of Kazakh culture, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. The waiting rooms are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of seating.
The airport staff is polite and helpful, ready to help with any questions. The registration and security check-in process usually takes place fairly quickly, although there may be small queues during rush hours.
The airport has a variety of shops and cafes where you can have a snack or buy souvenirs. Free Wi-Fi is also a nice bonus for passengers, allowing them to stay connected while waiting for a flight.
Some aspects that can be improved are updating some areas and improving the navigation system to make it more intuitive for new travelers.
In general, Almaty International Airport leaves a good impression and provides a comfortable journey for both locals and foreign visitors.
The small building of the new terminal is clean, everything you need is there. You can change the currency, buy a SIM card. Have a coffee. As everywhere, obsessive taxi drivers. I had a Freedom card, so I ordered a Yandex.taxi. The price to the city is about 4000-5000 tenge for September 2024. Be careful: the comfort level in a taxi is different from the Russian one. Buckets come for comfort)) it is better to drive from comfort + and above, if you want amenities). But you can forgive everything for the view of the mountains!
Finally, Almaty has an excellent airport, which makes me happy for the residents of this beautiful and beloved city! The old barn won't scare you anymore)) It's very comfortable, beautiful, and quite a world-class airport. True, you won't be allowed into the business lounge with the Aeroflot Sky priority, but in general, I spent time before boarding in a regular lounge. There are not many people, there are several cafes. Everything is quite cultural. Russian cards are not accepted. Well, in duty free, the difference between prices for the European Union and abroad is 20 euros per hundred euros. There are fewer in Moscow.
The international flight terminal looks fresh and very spacious. After passing the pre-flight inspection, you can visit a lot of interesting shops. Comfortable chairs are installed in the area before boarding, the toilets are clean without harsh and unpleasant odors.
The domestic flight terminal, on the other hand, is cramped and stuffy for a long time.
A new international terminal has been opened. Compact and very comfortable.
Everything is new, pleasant, and clean.
The staff is prompt, everything is fast and polite.
The logistics inside are clear. There are places to relax and have a snack.
A gorgeous terminal. It reminded me of the airport in St. Petersburg. Bright, new, roomy, clean.
Everything is fast, clear, modern, the border was passed quickly, I did not think that there would be polite and friendly staff. The coffee and the view of the mountains are amazing.
A convenient, large, modern airport. There is everything for travelers. Clean toilets and friendly staff. Easy navigation. Everything was great!) Duty free was just filling up with goods, I really wanted souvenirs)
It's a great airport. Thank you Kazakh brothers. Spacious, cozy and safe. We were pleasantly surprised by the prices in the air cafe. Delicious and varied menu. Duty free, surprised by the prices. More comfortable than in Russia. Thanks to everyone. Be kind
The new international airport in Almaty is beautiful, very comfortable, spacious, meeting all advanced requirements. Convenient parking and parking, accommodates a lot of vehicles. Very high prices in cafes and buffets.
