One of the most recognizable sights of Kazakhstan. The staff did well. There is a Soviet era inside the building. The furniture is old. The TVs are different in different rooms. Not everyone has air conditioning. The lighting of the rooms is weak. The rooms are small. But, as they say, if you don't like it, don't look. And don't show off. And so everything is great. It's a great hotel. As they say, you can't please everyone. The review is cool, at any time of the day.

Clean rooms, regular cleaning, soft and comfortable beds. The breakfast is great.
The building is old, so there are repairs in some places, but it does not cause discomfort.
There is a good restaurant in the immediate vicinity. The location of the hotel is an additional plus.

The monstrous experience of staying at the hotel "Kazakhstan". I flew to Almaty on a business trip for 3 days, the early flight from Moscow was at 8:45 a.m. My meetings started at 12:00. I planned to take a shower at the hotel and lie down for a while. But as soon as I entered the room, it began to shake from the sounds of drills and hammers. I was given a room on the 9th floor, and on the 8th floor there is a major renovation. Naturally, the hotel administration does not warn you about this either when booking or with a star. I asked to change the room, they said that there are no available rooms in my category, they will be able to do this only after 17:00. The new room was on the 15th floor. Tiny, stupidly oriented (if there is a suitcase on the bedside table at the entrance, then you can hardly open the door). The jamb was falling off at the front door, and the shower in the bathroom was either cold or boiling water. The heated floors warmed so much that even in slippers and on a towel it burned my feet. Very poor sound insulation (the hotel is located on the avenue, you can only sleep in earplugs). But the worst thing is that the next morning they started drilling under this number. At the same time, when my travel agent contacted the hotel, he said that I was lying and nothing was heard there. And on the non-smoking floor there is a monstrous smell of cigarettes (apparently, workers smoke).
The elevators are old and you can wait for them for 10 minutes. The iron was carried for about an hour at my request. Nobody cares about anything in the hotel. There are plastic bottles on the tables in the lobby, no one has even removed them.
The breakfast is decent, but there are queues at the stations with hot food, as there are a lot of groups from India.
I ran away from this hotel and I don't want to come back here for anything.

The rooms are somewhat strange (in terms of layout) - at least we got a corner room by the fire escape, the layout and layout of it leaves questions (?), also, somewhat tired furniture / furnishings. Perhaps it was us who got such a strange one (?). I don't know.
However, as for the service, in pm the breakfasts are BEYOND PRAISE!!!
We did not even expect!
On the day of departure, we decided to have coffee in the villa restaurant on the 26th floor ... We were extremely surprised that at 12-30 it did not work even in cafe mode....
Otherwise, no complaints.

We had a rest from April 7 to April 13. A good, good-quality hotel. Apart from minor flaws (the hot water cannot be adjusted on the 25th floor), I liked everything else. Friendly, professional staff; convenient location; and what a view from the window!! Delicious, full-fledged breakfasts. I think that in future visits to the city, we will stay here.👍

The rooms are in need of renovation. I lived on the 12th floor of the standard - the room has an old parquet floor, the mattress on the bed is very uncomfortable, but there are no pillows. There is a strong smell of smoking on the floor, although there are signs that smoking is prohibited. Some rooms have a lot of buzzing, I even had to move to another one, although then the ATM started buzzing at night.
The breakfasts are very mediocre, although you can choose something.
In principle, it will go for its cost.
Among the advantages: in the center and a magnificent view of the mountains from some rooms.
I was also very pleased with the Sky bar restaurant on the 26th floor with a great view of the city. The food is delicious, the price tag is average. The hookah is amazing

A beautiful building built by Soviet engineers from Moscow, capable of withstanding an 11-point earthquake. The rooms of the superior standard category are "killed", the tiles in the bathroom are cracked, The frames in the windows are wooden-metal, ancient. The breakfast is excellent, varied, for every taste and faith. The restaurants at the hotel do not stand up to any criticism. A special situation for tourists from Russia is that an exchange office with a bad exchange rate works as the girl operator wants, and not according to a schedule. There are no ATMs in the hotel that change rubles or accept a Mir card. The reception staff is not competent and slow. I do NOT recommend it!

You go into a room on the 21st floor (NEVER take 2101) and are shocked by his old age. Everything was falling off in the bathroom, the shower was kept on snot! The tub is slippery, and you can fall. There is nothing to hold on to, because the holder also wants to fall off.

In the evening, music is blaring from the 27th floor, where the restaurant is. In general, such a pleasure.
They moved us the next day. Well, no problem, because people move out every day in groups.
The rooms on the 19th floor are not so shabby
But! In the second room, where there is 1 bed and a sofa, the window did not close at all. There is a gap of 5 cm. And in our room it blows from the window, the gap is about 5 mm.
I thought to close the door to the room, but it was not there, the door is there, but it cannot be closed. There's just no lock.
The bathroom is the same in appearance as on the 21st. But at least the shower is fixed thoroughly and nothing is hanging out.
Photos on the website or booking are expectation / reality. Don't believe what they show.
The breakfasts are varied, there is a lot to choose from. Everything is OK here, there are no complaints.
Elevators - we even managed to get stuck in the elevator when we were going to breakfast....
And after breakfast, when we got to the room, the lights went out everywhere in the rooms.
But the rooms, there is no desire to stay voluntarily again in this hotel.
The hotel is being renovated. Near our room, the window was covered with a film and on the floor (apparently above or below) repairs are underway from 8 to 18.

The rooms are clean and tidy. Plumbing is a bit tight. Cleaned every day.
An early arrival still needs to be clearly booked in advance and agreed upon with the hotel. We were given the opportunity to check in from 8 in the morning, for which a special thanks to the staff after a hard night flight. But they couldn't bring an extra bed for 4 days, apparently it was waiting for us in another room;))
In general, we were satisfied with the hotel.

There is something to strive for. The hotel is good, but it feels like you get 10 -15 years ago. Repairs are underway, they are probably trying, but.... There are 4 elevators in the lobby. Two of them have allocated gender staff. There are signs about this, but they are so small that people accustomed to ordinary hotels do not see them. And they are very surprised that the staff with carts and tools goes with them in the elevator cabin.... Separate the threads physically! Next, there is no iron in the room... Only on request. Well, the most important thing is the Internet .... There is a separate room where you can work with documents, there is a printer, a scanner. But why should I organize employees to connect the scanner and configure it. I was told that it does not work. It works, but you need to monitor the equipment. The Internet is very weak, the connection was constantly lost, I had to distribute the Internet from my personal phone. I don't know, maybe it's just me who's so lucky.
The breakfasts are good, the variety of dishes is sufficient. The staff is trained, but no more. If in excellent hotels the staff tries to be inconspicuous, but is always there and ready to help, then this is not the case. Here the staff is in plain sight and you have to contact and encourage the representatives of the hotel to help.
I have long dreamed of getting to the hotel Kazakhstan, since childhood, I got there. Will I stop again? Probably not, but, except to check whether there have been changes for the better.
Oh, I forgot... At the entrance... There is a turntable, - doors, as in expensive hotels... Wonderful! But right there, the next doorway without a window (door), through which a good half of the visitors pass.. . Yes, and the guards at the entrance, where is the frame... A frame for visibility, a guard too.... These are attributes (visibility) but not a function...
