The Kazakhstan Hotel is a very beautiful building, it is an architectural monument of 1974, 26-storey. Convenient location in the center of Almaty, near the hotel there is a funicular to Kok-Tobe mountain, parks, central square. Everything is within walking distance.
The rooms are cozy, beautiful views from the Windows. Lots of elevators, beautiful inside and out.
Breakfasts at the hotel are distinguished by a variety of dishes for every taste.
The hotel staff is very polite and professionally trained. The room is cleaned daily.
I recommend this hotel to everyone, you will not regret it.

From 2025: After 6 years of regular visits to this hotel, I supplement the review:
The hotel has gone up a lot, but I can't name any positive changes for this price. Yes, the breakfasts are still good, but they have long since moved from the panoramic restaurant on the top floor to the 2nd floor. And, I must say, it was not a pity to pay money for a night for that alone. Economy rooms were not repaired, and they remained, at the same time, having already risen in price by 70 percent. The rooms sometimes have a strange smell, either of cigarettes or other substances.
In general, I used to say that the hotel is old, but the building is iconic and it's nice to be in it, the staff is trying, but now the price tag already outweighs all the advantages, unfortunately.

The Kazakhstan Hotel is not just a hotel, for me it is a monument of the era, an ornament of the capital of Soviet Kazakhstan, the first skyscraper in the city.
After several renovations, the hotel does not seem outdated at all.
More than 20 floors, comfortable rooms, several popular restaurants and bars, central location, near the square and Abai Avenue, private park, cable car station to Kok-Tobe.

Overall, everything is fine. I would put a 5, but a couple of things can be improved.:
1. The smell in the room was somehow synthetic: it looked like the flooring had recently been glued and, perhaps, it was necessary to choose another one. Well, or the coating. As a result, it's noisy with the window open, and with the window closed, the room fills with a smell very quickly. You can get used to it, but why?
2. There was no shoe horn. It wasn't critical to me, so I didn't ask. But the girl cleans there every day, she might have noticed.
Otherwise, everything is fine: the location is good, the staff is polite, and the breakfast is decent.
On the top floor there is a restaurant with panoramic windows, a great view of the city from the last century! They are proud of their history and, it seems to me, for good reason.
And one more thing: there are a couple of armchairs from a previous era in the room - very old and, in my opinion, very comfortable - I was happy to end the day in them.

The place is iconic.
It is a Soviet building, but the interior is being updated. Not big comfortable rooms with good repair. Buffet breakfasts. Excellent cuisine. Everything is delicious and standard.
4 I put an Abai hall for the candy. In which he spent 3 long days. It stands out sharply from the entire hotel. Non-working sockets (to our remark, the technician said that it was necessary to disassemble the table. In 3 days, he did not get to the outlets. It's good that they gave you an extension cord) Constant noise from the refrigerator (empty).
There are many places to go for dinner around the hotel. Everything is within walking distance.
By the way, the currency exchanger is right there in the hotel (next to the reception). The exchange rate is the same as in the nearby exchangers.
If you go on vacation, I would put all 5 stars.

The landmark hotel was built in 1974. The first skyscraper in Almaty. It is considered one of the earthquake-resistant buildings in the city. The hotel is quite comfortable, the staff is polite, there is a lobby bar, a restaurant on the 26th floor. There are a lot of places and interesting locations nearby.
The hotel has a spa on the 16th floor. Not to be confused with a spa complex with a thermal zone. In this case, you will get half an hour to warm up in the sauna. Hammam (small) for an additional fee.additional payment. Massage, of course, is also at a separate price list.
Of the minuses, the repair is of course done with many minor flaws and requires updating. Breakfasts are between 3+ and 4. For 6 days in a row, the only variety was soups that changed every day. All other dishes and snacks are the same.

I like the atmosphere in this hotel! Usually I am either in the lobby or in the Thai spa center))
In the lobby there is delicious coffee, pastries, comfortable armchairs and sofas, Wi-Fi, you can work online or just drink coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is on top 24/7. There is a white grand piano in the corner, it is often played professionally by tourists
I don't know, of course there are cooler hotels, but I love this one for a special vibe.

We chose a hotel online and everything looked mediocre in the photos, if you don't take some "luxury" hotels and rooms. But in the end, we chose this hotel and guessed right in all respects. It is located almost in the center, we walked to everything we needed, took buses and taxis a couple of times. The breakfast is amazing, we took an economy room and the room was amazing based on our expectations. The view from the windows is amazing, we also got to Nauryz and, as a result, had a great vacation.

The hotel is good. Decorated for the New Year holidays - gorgeous. The room is small, but quite cozy and has everything you need. The view from the 24th floor is wonderful! The bathroom is well equipped, although for complete comfort you can add a hygienic shower. But that's if you really find fault.
The staff is friendly, the breakfast is delicious and very varied. Of the minuses, perhaps, only one - they did not live there for long - it was too expensive for us! But we had fun! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

A hotel with a great history in the center of Almaty. Some of the rooms have already been renovated in a modern way, some are in the process, and some with a fairly old renovation. I think all the rooms will be new soon. The only drawback in the rooms is water problems. Sometimes you wait for hot water for a long time, then the drain does not work very well, then the water pressure. The problem needs to be solved...

A standard room was booked.In fact, they gave us an economy room, which we accidentally found out about when we went to complain about a cold room in the late afternoon. The wind blew from the windows so that even in the elevator and the lobby it was much warmer. After complaints and inquiries about the number, it was changed from the 3rd time. The safe wasn't working anywhere!
The staff was obviously messing with the rooms, passing off the worst as standards.
The entrance group and the restaurant were fine.
The breakfasts are satisfying, without frills, but you can eat.
From cleaning -towels were changed every day, garbage was taken out. Otherwise, as the crumbs were on the table, they remained. Water was added 2 liters each day .
In general, the stated numbers do not match the booking photos. And there are many questions about the questionable work of the reception staff.

The location in the city is also good.
There is no gym, which is sad. I found the nearest place a couple of blocks from the hotel.
During my stay, repairs were underway on some floors, oddly enough, they did not interfere.
In general, the lack of a gym or a similar place to charge was the only downside for me personally. Otherwise, it's great

The rooms are spacious.

Water in the room every day is a liter bottle. Tea, kettle, etc. There is a refrigerator, but there is no minibar. The double bed is comfortable with a normal double mattress.
There is no shoe spoon. The trash can is the only one in the bathroom.
The ironing board is disgusting - it needs to be changed.
