We were in Male in August 2024. The terminal is very old and is living out its days. Long wait for buses to arrive to disembark and board the plane. Long queues at the entrance, at the metal detector frames, at passport control, shabby toilets. A new, large and convenient airport is being built nearby. In the near future, I think it will be launched. And the old one will remain in the memories.
An excellent airport, despite the fact that it is small, although it is being reconstructed and will change a lot in the near future, it has everything for a comfortable time and waiting for your flight.
A comfortable airport, a lot of staff, they work quickly, everyone is friendly at the border. Many hotels have their own lounges. They met us, placed us, treated us to coffee, then they also took us right by the hand to the hydro plan, and also took our suitcases. Wow! Vacation right from the airport
A very small airport, well, just "tiny" compared to our Sheremetyevo or Vnukovo. There is always a queue of 500-700 passengers at the entrance, since the airport is international and there are plenty of flights to London, Dubai, Mumbai and so on. It's been a very, very long time. I advise you to arrive 4 hours before departure. Everyone, absolutely everyone, is examined with such care, as if from the Maldives, besides sand and coral, someone else can spend something valuable.... But they say in a couple of years they will build and put into operation another terminal, as the Maldivian destination has become very popular for all countries of the world.
Nightmare. 40 minutes to stand at the entrance to the airport, there are no air conditioners in this place, although fans are hanging. There is almost no queue at border control, plus one star for that. It's the snake's turn for inspection again. Our flight was delayed for an hour because they were looking for some lost, apparently fainted passengers in the queue at the entrance to Frankfurt. They wouldn't let us out because of them. It was exciting, as we had a 2-hour connection to Dubai. We ate at the Burger King, two burgers, two potatoes, pepsi and onion rings 5 thousand., there is another cafe nearby, there is another burger king queue. There are a lot of people, come a lot in advance, especially if you want to wander around the dutik, there are queues everywhere. The toilets are clean, generally fine, but for such a large number of people, such a small airport can no longer cope.
Male is Male. One thing is that this is the capital of the Maldives, everything else does not matter. A pleasant place. There is a Burger King and a number of other establishments at the airport itself.
With such a large passenger traffic, the airport needs to be expanded, it is clear that some kind of construction is underway, apparently there will be more soon
It has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Now it is a fairly comfortable airport. The food is expensive. Duty free in terms of souvenirs is not bad, in terms of alcohol, tobacco, perfume - average.
If you have a lot of waiting time from the boat to the plane or vice versa, take a city tour from locals with badges. They can also store their luggage cheaper than officially.
The airport is small, but very busy, although in general there is no special crush - the staff copes with passenger traffic. Duty-free is quite poor. The airport is located on a separate island (not on the same island as Male himself), but you can get there by public transport, taxi or speedboat (which is the fastest). The pier is almost at the exit from the airport.
It's a cool airport. Everything is in the subject. And a cafe with local food, such as Tom Yam soup, and a really good dute free. And the territory in front of the airport a la "garage" with access to the bay. The only point is that after the Moscow airports, the building feels small and cramped
I recently flew there, I really liked it, the people are good, and the girl is very wonderful, the food is great, the water is good, the air is wonderful, the jellyfish did not eat, the sharks did not eat, they threw a foreign Maldivian off the boat, they were distracted. And so it seemed like I liked everything!) the food is good once again, diarrhea is weekly , cleared the body , stomach cleansing is provided!! I hugged everyone and recommend it!)
There was a qualitative breakthrough with the airport. If 3 years ago you had to crowd into a cramped hot hall at slow-moving access terminals, then in December 2023 the airport left the best impression. Everything was fast and comfortable, the luggage was brought very quickly. The staff is polite and professional. Everything went back and forth in one fell swoop. There is one small drawback - the registration hall is very small, there is nowhere to sit, so you should not come in advance. But I will not take pictures for this - progress is on the face.
A small airport, there is free Wi-Fi, luggage on the belt is carefully unloaded on the edge and with a handle to the edge, so that it is convenient to immediately pick up the suitcase
The international airport is not the largest, but it is quite convenient, with the exception of the waiting area for tour operators next to it, while there is quite a lot of everything inside, a large duty free, waiting rooms, a building with a food court and separate waiting spaces for those who fly on a domestic flight are located nearby.
The airport is not big. There is a shop with magnets and T-shirts, but the prices are higher than in the hotel. There is a cafe where you can buy coffee, ice cream or something to eat.
It was difficult to assess the entire complex, it is apparently still being built and when completed it will be quite a modern transport hub with sleeves for airplanes, etc. But for now it is crumpled registration zones, border control and buses to airplanes.
The airport is medium-sized, it's hard to get confused, the only thing is that duty free is not as big as in other countries, both in terms of assortment and choice of goods
It's expensive in stores. Strange solutions for the layout of the terminal and its ventilation, possibly outdated. A new terminal is being built. We may see new solutions soon. In general, there is no hustle, everything is organized and pretty good. Polite staff. It's always nice to arrive there. The Internet is free and brightens up the waiting time well.
Unfortunately, from the Maldives, there is no online registration. And my husband and I were worried about which chairs we would get. The main thing for us was to sit next to each other.
The queue for registration in Moscow was decent, but more than 10 windows were working and we were registered pretty quickly. The reception staff were very attentive and friendly. We didn't have any problems. We all made it. We bought gifts . They flew away.
If there is a long connection between flights, they will not be allowed into the main room of the international terminal, where there are air conditioners, in advance. Just before check-in for the flight. The waiting will be either in the next room, it's good if there are places to sit down, or on the street. Unfortunately, not all hotels have their own comfortable waiting areas (lounges).
I travel often. It is one of the most poorly organized airports in the world. Huge queues, absolutely insane prices. The attitude towards the customers of the air harbor is below all estimates. I got into the most unpleasant situations a couple of times. Anticipating issues unrelated to alcoholic beverages.
The airport is not big, there are queues, there are separate queues with children. Entrance to the Moonimaa lounge business hall before registration, in case someone will find this information useful.
Construction of the new terminal began about 4 years ago, but it is still very far from completion.
In the meantime, you stand in line for an HOUR before the primary entrance to the airport terminal!!! In the incredible heat, a room full of tropical COCKROACHES!!! Guys, this is complete...kapets.
Then condei and it is quite tolerable with queues, but the beginning of the procedure is simply unforgettable.

Compact and convenient in location, very friendly staff, even a photo zone is available on site
A small airport, not to say that it is luxurious, but rather unpretentious. There is Wi-Fi, European-type charging, the staff is friendly, they helped to fill out a check-out form and register for a ticket reservation. Right at the exit from the airport, taxis go to the city of Male and around the island where the airport itself is, I spent 85 rubles to the hotel and in general, apparently this is a fixed amount because I went there and back several times at the same price. When leaving the airport, the pier immediately begins Behind the road from where ferries and speedboats go both to the capital city of Male, and along some islands, for example, to the island of Mafushi. At the airport, they offered to change dollars in rubles at the rate of 1 to 16. At first it seemed strange to me that the exchange rate was better than the official one, but then I regretted that I did not change more. There is also a dollar on the islands.
The most terrible airport, stuffy, there is no place, a lot of people, there is nothing to breathe, you go from queue to queue, people lose consciousness, check the same thing several times... the airport spoils the opinion about the rest...
A very unusual airport and also a seaport. Everything is compact, but at the same time there are no crowds. Everything happens fast enough. Pleasant employees are all around, they will help in everything, prompt, conduct. Very beautiful!
The work of the airport is perfectly organized. They are met by escorts and escorted to the plane. There is no need to worry about the luggage, everything will be loaded onto the plane perfectly. A great lounge area where you can drink water, coffee, tea with croissants. Admire the wonderful view.
I wish all the airport employees every praise!
An amazing airport. On the one hand, there are planes. Take a few steps and there is already water. After receiving your luggage, you go out into the open air. The first impression is that you can die from temperature and humidity. My advice is to take something thin and light and change clothes right at the airport if you have a boat transfer. There are places for snacks. Where is the waiting on the street near the WFnet piers. There is one in the main building. Good speed. Until now, it is necessary to fill out questionnaires upon arrival and departure from covidna (we were from April 1 to April 8). Do not neglect this. Those who have not filled in greatly delay the passage of formalities. Modernity may be lacking. But I will be happy to return to these islands again
The air conditioners blow very strongly, I had to dress warmer and look for a place where there are fewer streams of cold air. The children's room is one name, there is nothing there at all. Small size, very high density of people.
It's not big at all. As much as possible, everything is nearby - boarding gates, access to boats. There are few cafes where passengers are waiting for their transfer. In DUTY FREE, souvenir prices are 2 times cheaper than in hotels. I didn't see any queues for inspection and control. The staff is small. There is only one toilet, I recommend taking a queue in advance.
The capacity is low, but the staff pays due attention to passengers with children, spends without waiting in line. duty free is hopelessly shabby and very expensive...like the entire Maldivian retail chain. Let's hope that the commissioning of the airport under construction will solve these issues.
