A wonderful resort! In terms of price/quality ratio, it's just great!
Lots of trails, lots of lifts, few people, no queues. Very beautiful views. Relatively inexpensive accommodation and ski passes. We lived in an apartment in Novy Gudauri, very good conditions, a few minutes walk to the ski lifts. The people are generally very friendly, the landlord of the apartment we rented offered a late check-out without extra charges so that we could check in before check-in (we changed our plans at the last moment, tried to extend this apartment through the website, but it didn't work out, we rented another one for one night), when he found out that we were already with Gudauri offered to stop by at any time convenient for us. There is a certain amount of hostility towards Russians, abusive inscriptions are present, but we have not personally encountered this, on the contrary, we have seen a lot of good things from the locals.
It's convenient to get there - we flew on a direct flight from St. Petersburg, from Tbilisi - 2.5 hours by car.
Some of the disadvantages are few toilets and expensive food.
Definitely we will come here again!
There are a lot of trails, there are no queues in relation to Sochi, a lot of good rental services and the reasonable cost of ski passes and housing. The hotel was rented from new Gudauri, beautiful view and nice rooms inside
I rode here during the New Year holidays. I was very pleased. I chose it because I lived in Tbilisi, but next time I would have gone from Moscow, since there are direct flights to Vladikavkaz, and the ski resort is not far from the border.
An interesting ski trip. But she became a victim of a strange resort.
- Cool tracks. Convenient lifts. We enjoyed the ride.
- Inexpensive. If you don't rent equipment, then it turns out to be quite a budget trip. We spent $300 for 3 days. But the shoes were his own.
- But the village itself is strange. We lived downstairs in high-rise buildings, and what a hell it is to walk along the only busy road, or look for parking in clogged streets.
That's debatable.
Great resort, lots of trails, few queues, lots of places to eat and lots of hotels. There are a lot of beautiful views, you can quickly get from one highway to another. There are also many lifts that allow you to travel throughout the resort. This is the second time here and both trips to this place were very cool and memorable for a lifetime!
Everything is great!
Skipass day 70 Lar
3 days 200 Lari
There is practically no queue !
There are many trails, beautiful, wide, and safe!
Cafes, affordable, delicious
Regarding Dombay, etc., much cooler!
I recommend the Gudauri Lux apartment, it's a 2-minute walk to the ski lift, and that's it!
A good ski resort for recreation has everything you need, cafes, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Everything is located on a small plot, but it has its advantages, as they say, everything is at hand. I would like to come again, but due to the current situation, there is no particular desire yet.
We visited the resort in early March. I enjoyed riding because there are many trails and they are safe. Cool freeride! Yes, because of the thaw, the snow was wet below and bald spots had already appeared, but everything is fine with snow on the upper sections of the trails. However, there are problems with the designation. There are few signs and you often confuse the direction of descent. The resort is mostly populated by foreigners. Both Russians and Belarusians met. The resort is very affordable, except for the food and alcohol in cafes and restaurants, which is expensive. As well as a ski pass for an adult in the region of 2000rubles, ski rental is about the same. We chose the hotel well. (Gudauri Loft). The price is $ 70 per day per apartment. The main feature of this hotel is that it stands right on the highway. I left the room and immediately got on the slope, which is very convenient. I will definitely come here again because the resort is very beautiful and comfortable for skiing. Unfortunately, Arkhyz and Elbrus are inferior to this resort. And Sochi has become very expensive.
We were in the summer. We stopped to rest and spend the night. A great place to relax. Clean air, excellent views of the Caucasus mountains. well-maintained territory and a hotel. There are shops and restaurants.
Among the advantages, I would like to highlight a wide variety of trails, good lifts, and the absence of long queues for lifts. A huge disadvantage of this resort is the disgusting attitude to the preparation of trails, there are a lot of stones, snow cannons there for what???for beauty? At most, wet snow was dragged away with a snow truck at night, which turned into ice, and the places where there were patches of earth remained underground for 3 days... We have not met any "Russian people", the communication is friendly, the people are friendly!
A review from a family of skiers/snowboarders with skiing experience in Europe, Arkhyz, Sheregesh. A resort with no developed infrastructure at all. The tracks are not marked at all. No fences, no signs. When the weather is sunny, you can take in all the tracks with your eyes-you won't get lost, there aren't many of them at all. But if it's snowing or foggy, that's it, it's unclear where to go. There are groups of people standing here and there wondering where to go. You say, "Yes, just go down." And that's what we did: we flew into a puddle, and there were rocks under it. There is only fast food on the mountain at a fantastic price: shawarma with chicken is 35 lari, which is 12 euros, and with beef - 50 lari, which is 18 euros somewhere. There are no cafe huts to go inside. No, I'm lying: there are 2 tables for 5-6, the rest is outside. There's nowhere to keep warm. Toilets : There are only 2 on the mountain. One is just a hole in the ground on the Firni descent, and the other is a cabin (it would be better not to go there). And most importantly! They won't waste the tracks!!! We came specially to the first podium, we were the first to get out of the booth, and no one was leveling the tracks since the evening.... There is not much snow on the tracks, if there were snow cannons and snow trucks would work as expected, everything would be different.
Rentals are normal. European equipment from previous seasons from rental.
Georgian hospitality, good mountains, about 50 km of trails, but the main advantage of freeride in my opinion. Delicious wine and food, lots of sunny days. Near Tbilisi is a separate song!
A large number of trails, all trails are well prepared. There are many different routes. The resort has a lot of ski rentals and special ski equipment. Kind and friendly people. There are few ill-disposed people towards Russians (
There are many tourists from Russia, Israel, Ukraine, and a huge number of locals on weekends. Queues for lifts are minimal with a mustache of local arrivals. The slopes are mostly blue. The mountains are a bit difficult for beginners. A lot of broken arms and legs. There is always an opportunity to take an instructor and roll back the equipment or even get on skis. The weather was magical. Very beautiful nature. The mountains are magical . There are a lot of cafes on the slope. You won't stay hungry.
It's a great place. There are many ski areas. Relatively inexpensive skipasses. There is a SPAR grocery store nearby. On the downside, prices in cafes and restaurants are expensive.
A very cool ski resort! Guys, do something about the tracks. Melted snow and rocks on the tracks are facepalm, very cool tracks, but it's very hard to ride. I'm not a pro, but it's very difficult for me to learn on such tracks. The beauty is unreal. You need to watch the tracks a little bit.
We came from Moscow by car with friends who ride here every year. The journey with an overnight stay in Rostov in 4 hands is exhausting, we crossed the border in 45 minutes. LeSuit Apartments are beyond praise. Better than in Europe. Spacious, 50 m from the ticket office and lift, elevator, underground Parking. Olga and Sergey are smart guys. Not expensive, 90 bucks a night, the three of us. 50 km of trails, lots of catering of all kinds. Apres Ski - Austria nervously smoking on the sidelines. The wheelchair is wonderful for every taste, including free riders. There are zero queues. We were a little unlucky with the weather, in the middle of March the heat is hellish, in the morning the slope is icy, by 12 wet with holes to the ground. The guns weren't working, and it wasn't cold enough at night to freeze artificial ice. Everything is very cheap. The lift is based on a 7-day subscription of 2000 rubles per day. The same amount of equipment rental per person per day. I recommend it and I do not exclude that I will come again. I can't give you five because the food sucks and is unrealistically expensive. And everywhere. They cook by mistake according to the principle and so people grab. That's why all the restaurants are empty. You can only eat khachapuri and khinkali, and not everywhere. They say the prices are almost twice as expensive as in Tbilisi. But what would it be for? For such a meal, which I ate yesterday, I would have killed the cook in our canteen in the office. In short, before going to Gudauri, go to Tkemali on Lubyanka or Ojakhuri in Moscow, and bring stew and pasta here.
You will not be able to enjoy Georgian cuisine in Gudauri, but you will get a cheap and high-quality ride. There are many Russians, the attitude is friendly, but there are more foreigners. There are a lot of English, Germans, Chinese. We rode with Turks and Israelis. Therefore, maybe the cooking is bad-these guys did not live in the USSR and do not understand anything about Caucasian cuisine. And so they will eat. There is a SPAR with inadequate prices. A bottle of Barjomi is more expensive than in Moscow. All household chemicals and many products are ours, but with unrealistic Georgian prices. I won't say anything about alcohol, I don't drink from the word at all for reasons of principle. But it also seemed very expensive to me. A glass of stolichnaya vodka 700 rubles, a bottle of unreleased wine from 1000.
So think about it!
A great place to relax and ski, the resort is constantly developing, a new cable car has been added from Kobi directly to the slopes, so that you do not have to come to Gudauri yourself, but live in different areas and it was convenient to get there without overcoming the passes.
It's a disgusting resort.
Time and money spent.
Road.
The resort is located almost in the middle between Vladikavkaz and Tbilisi. The road is a mountain serpentine, generally good, all paved, winding in places. It must be borne in mind that it can be slippery, including areas that may overlap, it is necessary to move on winter tires, safety is above all.
From Tbilisi by car in a quiet mode, looking around a little more than 2 hours. Beautiful mountain scenery, there are open tunnels beyond Gudauri, quite beautiful. Perhaps these are all the advantages.
Service.
The worst service I've ever seen.
After living in Tbilisi for a month, I thought that I wouldn't be surprised at anything, since the resort is also a resort in Georgia, but I was wrong:
- at the entrance to the resort, the asphalt disappears and mud begins with stones in warm weather and snowdrifts in snowy weather.
- There are no paths, my child forgot about the stroller, and mom and dad had to shake their hands.
- There are very steep stairs, with tiles! It has the characteristics of a skating rink.
- There is no parking at all, there are some vacant lots, some curb along the road and some places near hotels. The architects and designers had an IQ of 8.
- It snowed for two days, it fell extremely much, you don't have to clean up, why, the resort is the same.
"Dirt, dirt, dirt, just dirt. Overflowing dumpsters. Not because I'm a pig and I'll find dirt everywhere. Rather, on the contrary, to get used to it is to become a pig.
- Icicles hanging on buildings are a separate respect.
Hotels
we stayed at the Gudauri Inn. We took it based on photos and reviews. But you made a big mistake, I won't describe it, because you can't swear.
Communicating with others, it became clear that this is the case almost everywhere.
- For example, because of the snow, I could not leave the hotel by car, as the road was not cleaned, and it so happened that I did not arrive by tractor, but the staff got into the situation and drove me for GEL 100 and "thank you." Real kind people
Leisure.
There's not much of it, except to go for a ride, you can hang out in the square, eat something. It seemed like what else was needed ? but even that's a problem.
Restaurants are different for everyone here.
In my opinion, it's somewhere between disgusting and ugly.
- The waiter may not come up to you, that's fine. Undercooked khinkali, overcooked shish kebab, dry lavash, barely warm mulled wine are the best practices.
- the stop list is almost always on the menu.
- it is especially alarming when you enter a restaurant, and you and the waiter are alone in an empty room.
There is practically no one at the resort until 10 a.m., the restaurants open around 9:00, but with a strain, they are open - it does not mean they are working.
After 17:00, all movement stops, everyone peacefully goes to the restaurants and to the rooms.
Maybe a couple of people will dance in the square with a DJ.
Ski resort
That's exactly what everyone comes for.
Ski pass ticket offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This, by the way, sets the operating mode of the resort,
I would love to ride from the morning into the frost. But there is no place to have breakfast, the tracks are not ready yet, and if the ski pass is over, you can't buy it yet.
- There are a lot of equipment rental points, they sniff the game first, but you can negotiate and they will give you a normal inventory. I didn't take my skis, I came with my shoes, it's funny to see how the weight is adjusted on skis, but that's okay, I'm already finding fault. The rental price is 60 GEL per day.
Lifts
There are queues, but everything is tolerable, you can say like everywhere else. Pretty fast. The biggest queues, as always, are on the green highway, but they are normal.
Ski pass: 1 day - 70 GEL.
Highways
In general, they are good, of various levels.
It is clear that everyone is spinning on the green, a little less on the blue.
But by 12-13 o'clock everything rolls away, considering that the weather is more often warm, everything quickly becomes somehow uninteresting.
And when I walked through the snowdrifts from the car or from the hotel to the ticket office, stood in line for a ski pass, and got up, I had already spent half my energy.
Safety.
This is the second reason after the service why you shouldn't go to this disgusting place.
They want to leave me crippled for my money.
If you didn't fall on the ice along the way and a block from the roof didn't fall on you, then there is a high probability that rocks are waiting for you on the highway, you are in the mountains.
There are two slopes on the green highway, one a little softer, the second a little steeper, but narrow at the beginning.
I managed to fall, it's okay, but when I got up, I saw that I had fallen next to a cobblestone with sharp edges, it was huge, it wasn't brought there by an avalanche or dropped by a crow from behind my mouth, it had been lying there for a long time, on a green highway, under a layer of snow and waiting for someone's spine or board. No one cares about him.
Ambulances are constantly parked downstairs, and not just standing there, but taking someone away.
Judging by the reviews, there is no traumatologist and X-ray in the medical center, read it for the sake of interest.
It was at this resort that an emergency with ski lifts occurred a couple of years ago, and people were injured.
And before the new year, several people died in an Indian hotel, as the staff with IQ 4 did not go to school.
Total:
"A young and developing resort", young yes, developing - even xs. Developing, this is when income goes to infrastructure development, which increases attractiveness.
New Gudauri is an interesting approach, you won't come to the restaurant a second time, you won't go to the store a second time, you won't return to this hotel. You're not going back to this resort.
I've taken a lot of "funny photos", but I'll post one.
Compared to the resorts of the North Caucasus, it's a paradise. The trails are gorgeous, the ski pass is $25, there are no queues even in high season. Of the cons and risks ... due to the large number of relaxers and fat lovers, Russophobia is felt and it is scary to eat in a cafe.
Of the advantages, probably only small queues for lifts and inexpensive ski passes, that's all. Very poor maintenance of the trails, the trails do not waste the word at all, there is no marking of the trails. It was during the snowfall season, the trails were opened very late, some of the trails were closed altogether, because of this crowd of skaters. The tracks on the map do not correspond to reality, there is a highway on the map, in reality it does not exist, we hit it a couple of times. There is no marking of the edge of the tracks, and if visibility is poor, it is easy to go the wrong way. I was unpleasantly surprised by the lack of insurance services when purchasing a skipass, this is the first time we have encountered this. We have been to Europe, in Rosa, Arkhyz, and nowhere have we seen such disregard for the preparation of trails. Of our resorts, Arkhyz definitely wins, and in terms of the number and mileage of trails, too.
Great place. The road is normal, somewhat reminiscent of the Sochi pass, but simpler. Georgians are a hospitable people . The prices are like in an expensive restaurant in Moscow . On average, 1 dish starts from 1200. But the lifts are much cheaper than in Krasnaya Polyana.
I love Gudauri! The most beautiful views. Delicious cuisine. Developed infrastructure. There are many trails and lifts. There is no mad pandemonium. Delicious mulled wine. Vibe is the right one!)))
The resort is young, there are no queues for the lifts, there is little snow , a lot of rocks on the highway, a lot of ice, the guns started working when we were already leaving, the locals are friendly , but in the evening they prefer to serve their own in the cafe , even if they came later , in the end they waited more than an hour , but they waited , they of course apologized , but to observe how at the next table , who came 20 minutes later than you , they wear phenomena , and you're drooling , it's not a big pleasure , I 've heard about drunk cherries , so we didn't go there , but the usual restaurant is not much better, the coolest and most democratic are the cafes near the lifts - Spartak - I recommend , cool grandfather- it's so colorful, it'll pour chachi for free, you'll die of shish kebab, in general there are disadvantages, but the views compensate for everything, it's very beautiful
A wonderful ski resort. Like everywhere else, you need to know the subtleties. There are a couple of cafes on the mountain that don't serve Russians. This is a timeout and a vitamin. Otherwise, excellent service and a wheelchair with lots of lifts. There are a lot of hotels near the mountain and ski lifts. One disadvantage is that sometimes the sun exposes the trails in places and there are pebbles or grass for skis, boards.
A wonderful ski resort! Wonderful trails, I was pleased with their number and length. Excellent mulled wine with cognac. The only thing we were unlucky with was the snow, which was very low (February 16, 2025).
In principle, it's not a bad place. For some reason, I want to call this resort a home ...
In general, we liked it, we enjoyed skiing. There are few trails, but everyone will find something interesting. Gudauri is especially good for beginners.
The people working at the resort are friendly (mostly)
Of the minuses, I would like to mention the terrible transit road that cuts through the resort. It makes dirt and noise.
The presence of Ukrainians in the service points: Ukrainian flags and boorish offensive inscriptions on advertising media
Wild behavior on the slopes and lifts of some "mountaineers". Quite often, some kind of incomprehensible landing is practiced without a queue from somewhere on the side. A man with a beard just stands in the middle of the chair, and those waiting in line have to decide which of them is superfluous. There is confusion. This character can sit on two chairs at once. The rest, again, must solve a difficult task for those who did not have enough space. Unfortunately, you need to be prepared for such savagery
Mountaineers are often found flying along the highway in a straight line in the form of a "scrap" with wild screams.
For the second year we have been vacationing with my wife in New Gudauri in February. Beautiful trails, wonderful nature, soulful atmosphere, unique nature, and Georgian cuisine ... "lick your fingers ", khachapuri, kinzmarauli, khinkali. I want to come back again. From the negative side, the high exchange rate of the lari-ruble, Ukrainian flags at the entrance to the Drunken Cherry bar, sometimes you hear from vacationers about stolen equipment. If the winter is snowy, the trails are on fire, they say that the Austrians designed the resort in the distant 2000s.
I love this place, this is the 5th time I've been here. Skiing, eating delicious food and getting enough sleep) I always stay in a family hotel right next to the ski lift, we have already become friends with the owners 😊
I liked that there weren't many people during the New Year holidays, the prices were reasonable, and we lived next to the lifts. There is a cafe, the price tag is expensive, but you can have a snack.
A wonderful resort! The most hospitable attitude towards the guests of the resort. Interesting trails. Modern lifts. No queues for the lift. Delicious and inexpensive food.
A gorgeous place with a disgusting organization on the ski slope itself!!! The tracks are broken, there are no tracks even visible, half of the tracks are covered in rocks and earth (it is unclear for whom the guns are standing). None of the tracks have fences or markings, meaning that if you don't know the route or have poor visibility (clouds, snow), you can easily drive off into a so-called freeride or fly off onto rocks. Instructors pull the student children to the red tracks, and teach them there right under the slope in the middle of the track!!! Anyway, there are a lot of low-rolling people on the red tracks who can't get down from there and just smash the whole track to huge bumps and ice! And no one controls or monitors it!!!. In general, I liked Georgia for its natural beauty, delicious cuisine and friendly people, but I was disappointed with the Gudauri ski resort!
For me, the best ski resort within reach from Moscow. There are a lot of trails, because of this there are no queues for the lifts and people evenly disperse along the slopes, you drive freely, no one bothers anyone. There are wide and gentle trails, and there are steeper ones. Everyone will find a slide according to their level of riding. Cheap skipass compared to Sochi, only 2400-2800 liters
This is not a ski resort! We lived in an apartment building. In principle, it's fine, for 3 races. But the prices for such conditions are inflated to the cost of a good hotel. There is no Internet connection. The kettle is broken. The balcony door wouldn't close. And it can't be fixed. The master needs to be called from Tbilisi! There is no cleaning. Linen changes too. There is zero service. The village itself is a bunch of houses right next to each other. There are absolutely no roads! Mud without snow. People among the cars are making their way along these trails. It's difficult for cars to separate. The only store. With an insane number of people. There are always queues. The choice of products is poor. One-year-old frozen Chinese chicken. Sausages. You need to buy normal bread in time. The slopes are not prepared for skiing at ALL! There are zero markings! We were in February. At first, we skated without snow on rough slopes and rocks. Apparently, they don't prepare the slopes at all in the summer. The stones are not removed. There aren't many guns, and even those aren't working. Then the snow began to fall. There's a lot of snow, but it's not much use! The pebbles were dusted with snow. Apparently, everything here is at the mercy of nature. You're going down blind. There are zero landmarks. Preparation of slopes is also zero! There are no road markings. Nothing is fenced. You can fly to nowhere! The only snowmobile comes alive only during the day, among the skaters. It's full of people falling, and with injuries. Who have an ambulance waiting downstairs. Their normal lifts are just cabins and a modern six-seat. There are absolutely dead. Which you need to manage to jump off in time, as the descent downhill begins immediately. Or he'll take you back. It's full of falling. No one keeps order. They don't help children. The men are sitting several at a time in their booths by the lifts. And that's it! Apparently they come in the morning to press the start lift button, and turn it off in the evening. If you like to take risks, come here. This place is just for you. ))) With regard to restaurants. We need to find our own. Because not everything is delicious and right. But there are good ones. For example, Georgian, opposite the local casino. P.S. It's better to get from Tbilisi. You may get stuck and not get to the plane in time, because the Krestovy Pass is closed in time for snowfall in the direction of Vladikavkaz. Accordingly, the border crossing is also closed.
Nice resort. Everything is very convenient, there is ski and snowboard rental. If we cleaned the snow and ice between the buildings, it would be just great. I will definitely come again.
Overall, it's a great place, BUT you need to be attuned to it.. Don't expect the Alps in terms of service, number of trails, etc.. Expect friendly people, no queues, chacha by the river and homemade wine, and then you will get 100%.
The first time in Gudauri ( after Europe) was on New Year 's Eve . The weather is great, the trails are empty, there are no queues at the lifts. The views are magnificent! Who loves Christmas trees - there are no Christmas trees. Space. The trails are wide and well maintained. The difficulty is average, but it's very much fun to drive from above. The food in the restaurants is delicious, even too tasty in places.
Of the cons:
- slow lifts
-grocery stores - with a poor choice ( we brought them from Tbilisi - it just saved us )
- pedestrians on the slopes and chairlifts - falling, stumbling - often stop the lifts because of them
-slowness in restaurants is critical
It's normal, of course, it was strange for me to see that on the highway near the rollout to the first lift they rented and rode tubing... There are mostly students huddling together and it's really not safe. There was little snow this year, but still the tracks were not closed, where there were obviously rocks and bare ice. But the fact that there are no queues on the lift is just great, but in my opinion this is temporary as locals are increasingly learning this type of recreation, sports and tourism seem to be developing.
A cool and well-maintained ski resort. The tracks are diverse from amateurs to pros, ski passes are not expensive, as well as equipment at the rental. Lifts of all kinds, many cafes and recreation areas, friendly staff, but Russian cards are not accepted.
When there is snow, then there is a ski resort, when there is no snow, then there is a hotel town. Travel is difficult in winter, and the views are very beautiful in summer.
A great place for a wheelchair. I recommend it to everyone! Wide trails, many different firefighters, delicious cafes on the mountain. There are experienced instructors. And the views from the peaks are amazing. Especially on the Kobi highway, where at the end of the highway you can enjoy the grandeur of Mount Kazbek.
Excellent GLK👍 a lot of trails, everyone will find their own, both beginner and pro. I liked the Kobi highway, it goes to the other side of the mountain, there is a view of Kazbek. In sunny weather, incredible, stunning views of the mountains! The picturesque, narrow Tetra 2 highway has a huge number of people, but due to the large number of lifts, there were no queues. They spend money efficiently, since the very morning it is one bliss to ride👍😍
How beautiful it is here! There are a lot of lifts, the views of the mountains are fantastic. Reasonable price for ski lifts and ski rental and everything you need. Expensive food in local cafes, 1200 Russian rubles for pizza. But considering the number of foreign tourists, I think this is a common price for them.
I liked it! These are my first mountains! After that, there was Dombai Elbrus Sheregesh arkhyz , but this is another country . I lived in a hotel near the slope near cafes and shops the prices are acceptable
Block No. 4 in New Gudauri is a very convenient location for living. You can go down from the mountain directly to the door of the ski depot. The lift is 50 meters away on the flat, you can ski or walk. I recommend taking apartments on the 2nd floor and above with Windows to the courtyard, then there will be no noise from the restaurant on the 1st floor and from the clearing opposite the lift, music is often turned on loudly there. Of the disadvantages, only the flimsy entrance doors of the apartments with poor sound insulation, the corridor can be heard very well. In the photo from the gondola, building 4 is on the far right.
A wonderful ski resort, there are no other words. We built a new cable car, new routes. However, when we were there, we weren't very lucky with the weather, but the weather was great last time.
The condition of the trails and prices are much inferior to any resort in the Caucasus. There are guns, but they are not used. As a result, there are bald spots on most trails.
The food at the resort is on average 3 out of 5 at prices at the level of the best restaurants in Moscow.
