The slopes are super prepared, the lifts and trails are excellent. But the accommodation and restaurants are not very good. A good place for 2-3 days. The price/quality combination is good
If there is snow and the sun is shining in Gudauri, and you want to go skiing, then you will get great pleasure from skiing. There are many places to stay near the mountain.
If you are a beginner, then do not skimp on the insulator. If you are an experienced skier, then you will find a wide variety of trails and experiences.
The longing is green, there is nothing to do.It seems like a resort, but there are no entertainment events, no excursions, and even in the Drunken Cherry restaurant there are stickers on the doors humiliating Russia and our president!!! And they take money from Russians regularly! It's disgusting!!! Aunts in all black with their faces covered walk around with their men, at first we shied away from them! It's creepy!!!
A beautiful place! Incredible landscapes, good-natured people.
One of the disadvantages is not a profitable exchanger and expensive food in cafes and restaurants. Don't go to Black Dog - they don't like Russians!
It's a great place. I would go back there again and again! Great hotels for every taste, great food on the slopes! Mmmmm, and what are the slopes and views 😍
We stopped by in the summer, on our way to Russia from Tbilisi. I was impressed by everything: the lifts, their total length, the stations in the right places. And of course, the beauty of these places, it's impossible to break away. I'm planning to ride in winter now
Excellent trails, many pleasant places to relax, bars, restaurants at affordable prices. A hospitable resort with a pleasant atmosphere

Beautiful rocky mountains! Excellent quality alpine snow! In clear weather, a beautiful panorama of the village opens from Kudebi! There was a small selection of trails (there was no snowpark in 2016), stone on stone on the trails (the slide of the new board was notable), snowmobiles worked from 10 o'clock, that is, after the launch of the lifts. It used to happen that a nasty squeaking frightening ratcak followed me down, this is a big minus, but Gudauri does not claim to be the level of development of Alpine skiing.
The cuisine is spicy, spicy: Georgian. My stomach was rapidly going into a state of shock.
Cheerful, open Georgians, sometimes indifferent or defiant to tourists. There was no comfort in Gudauri at the time of 2016. And the local website deleted negative honest reviews about accommodation in hostels. We lived in an inexpensive white shino hostel. We faced a water supply shutdown for several days (it is very cold, there is nothing to flush in the toilet (forgive me generously for the details)), and there are 5 people in a room with a shared bathroom. We left the resort (by good tradition for the 3rd time) before the end of the payment period due to problems at the checkpoint (the ever-falling snow was the reason for the closure of the pass). But nature overshadows negative memories, and I want to come back years later to look at the changes!
If you have little skiing experience or you are a beginner skier who is attracted to the rocks, then most likely Gudauri will be in your top)
Russian Russians in Georgia: as they say, the world is not without kind people and at the same time - in the family is not without a freak // Georgian youth passing by, hearing Russian speech, will say something like that behind their backs with a snide echo // but without malice, but rather, just to say something // the waiter in the restaurant got a clear guy in general: a kind, very polite and educated student of Tbilisi State University, played the violin for 9 years, then studied to be a turner, knows five languages, learned Russian from our films - wow // in another cafe, the waiter girl pretends that she does not understand our language, says in broken English, but quite responsive // and this morning we watched from the balcony as two young men took pictures at our car, carefully at the same time first brushing the snow and dirt from the room [we did not understand what their joke was] // the landlady of the apartment in which we live, overly caring, did not give me rest two weeks before arrival, and this is not sarcasm // but the funniest thing that she did was unilaterally change the currency for housing after booking: we paid 10% of the prepayment in rubles, and after confirming the reservation, the remaining 90% magically turned into $ // the security of the lift, limiting the entrance to boarding, let our entire company through when they are you ask for this, but we ask specifically in Russian, for the sake of interest // in general, for the first three days, it seemed that after the beginning of some events, the attitude towards us became noticeably better // and there is something to compare with: the previous visit to these regions was in 2020 and it was worse than today // in my humble opinion [ imho ]
The best resort in my opinion: a cool atmosphere, excellent trails and convenient, well-developed infrastructure, and the views are simply mesmerizing. 🏔️
I only liked the room. But Switzerland is far from how this place wants to present itself there. We were in May, it was not yet the season, of course, there was one cafe where a very negative attitude towards Russians is very visible and a shop where there is not a large selection of products.
Wheelchairs are better in Russia. There is almost no navigation on tress. Poor service, expensive and not tasty food((. I didn't think I'd say that about Georgia. But the places are beautiful, the nature is super!
The tracks are gorgeous! There are many lifts. Skipass is priced like Elbrus, BUT! The number of trails and lifts makes it a penny and it is one for ALL lifts!
A very cool mountain. And there are many hotel trails near the ski lifts. There are many shops. There are no queues . Cheap rentals. Delicious food. The cafe is not expensive.
The best place to relax and ski! The bad thing is that the customs is loaded and there is no separate road for heavy trucks! Special attention is paid to the Caucasians at the Georgian customs, the Georgians said this is a request from Russian customs officials ! It's not pleasant, but it's a fact.
A good resort for beginners, continuing and the mecca of freeride.
There are not enough prepared trails.
There is a snow park. Cafes and restaurants with Wi-Fi.
The tracks were always prepared, but under bad weather conditions they were immediately closed. The lifts are very modern and comfortable. The views are unforgettable. Mountains and a bottomless sky. The reception in the hotels where I was, worked smoothly and quickly. It is better to be with knowledge of English. Accommodation is expensive. Ski passes are expensive.
Well, this is a recommendation, definitely. Wheelchair top. The food is top. Mulled wine top. There is a lot of housing, there are even several spas. 🏂 Everyone ride!
The ski slopes are good, the advantages end there... Lifts often freeze due to a power outage. In restaurants, everything is in English and Georgian, Russians are ignored or communicate through clenched teeth. Russian Russian is the only restaurant in the whole of Gudauri where the menu is in Russian and they communicate with a smile in Russian, the cuisine is excellent, the third star is named after them.
An alternative to Sochi. The snow is longer, the trails are wider, the food is tastier, ski passes, hotels and generally everything is cheaper. Two hours from Tbilisi airport.
We went from February 18 to February 25, we were lucky with the weather, we missed Lars, but I realize that we will not subscribe to this anymore)
Positive:
1. Beautiful view, especially on Kobi
2. Georgian cuisine and wine
3. A lot of housing right near the lift, lived in Gudauri Palace, 50k from 5x per week
4. Lots of trails
5. Lifts are relatively inexpensive (even with a sagging ruble ~ 2100 a day)
Probably that's all, and you can also find fault with every plus. Now the cons, there are a lot of them:
Minuses:
1. The quality of the trails. There was already enough snow when we arrived, but by 12 all the tracks were covered with bald patches, ice, bumps and rocks. The markings (columns) are not particularly clear and visible even in good weather, it is impossible to understand snow and fog at all. It's dangerous, you can't accelerate, people with stretchers are running around like that. Well, the cherry on the cake is that even in normal weather they close the wind or something else.
2. Constant power outages on the slope. We hung up several times while climbing on the lift, once I was stuck for as much as 1.5 hours
3. Expensive. The ruble sank to the lari, even transferring itself at the divine rate through the golden crown, there was a robbery. Especially in restaurants, where they also charged mandatory 15-20% tips for a mediocre service. Taxi drivers carry kidneys in the snow for the price, in the pair the prices are much higher than in Moscow.
4. It's boring, there are a couple of good bars, even a sauna was not so expensive, but you can't walk anywhere, at most you can go to Tbilisi in good weather.
5. The behavior of foreigners. There is a lot of Russophobia here, some Spanish woman can tell you on the lift, but don't communicate in your filthy language. In queues for the lift, they behave dangerously, create a crowd, are brought into a clogged gondola, which is why everyone is kicked out and there is a queue again.
Conclusion - in my personal experience, our Khibiny and Sheregesh surpass Gudauri at times, there is no desire to return here yet.
A resort where beautiful MOUNTAINS AND SNOW are a given, a well-thought-out system of lifts. The tracks of different levels are maintained in GOOD condition.
