A huge modern large-scale airport building. The navigation is excellent (it is in Russian), Clean, friendly Chinese people in the shops. But the inspection in the transit zone is a separate story!!!! Powerbanks, lighters, nail files, it's better to put everything separately. You will be thoroughly examined, probed, and so on. They don't know English well, they don't speak it clearly. Google translator Russian-Chinese to help (if you have roaming, and if you are connected to their network, do not look for Google maps and so on, they jam). It's quite interesting, if you have enough time, take a walk, take a look (there is an oriental-style garden) They accept union-pay cards from our banks.

Please note: stores are open only during business hours, usually until 20:00-21:00 maximum. There are also restaurants and cafes, no one is working around the clock here. There are American fast food and Chinese restaurants and cafes, there is nothing European here, as well as a place where you can sit and drink a glass of wine, I have never seen this in China. Excellent navigation at the airport, even the information is in Russian, all this will help anyone with departure and transit. The size of the airport is surprising at first, but there is help at every corner, tickets and passport are checked and directed to the right counter.
If you are traveling in transit, show your tickets at the reception and get the opportunity to stay for 6 days in Beijing. If the transfer is short, the transit visa will still be inserted, you just need to show the transit tickets and you can go out and walk in the capital.
It is better to get a sticker and stay at the airport itself, there are more cafes there and you can sleep/eat at any restaurant/cafe.
The winter garden is located in the departure area, there are more sofas there. but the territory itself is not very big, there are a lot of outlets, including USB. Cold and hot water are freely available, you can drink and/or brew tea, coffee, noodles. The seats in the waiting rooms have handles, so you won't be able to stretch out and sleep. I had an experience of transplanting in the early morning on the way from Moscow to Tokyo - it turned out very comfortable! A huge territory, a large number of free places to sit and lie down, drinking cold and hot water, many toilets, the opportunity to go outside into the garden, get some air. The only caveat is that there were no night cafes and souvenir shops, everything began to open closer to 9 a.m.

we arrived at night, stayed at the Aerootel, in the airport building itself, very convenient. there are also breakfasts there.
you need to arrive early for departure, everything does not happen very quickly at customs and inspection.
there is an exit to the garden in the departure area, you can drink water (hot or cold) for free, there is no coffee anywhere in the cafe, there is a minimarket, as in the city, prices are approx.

The airport building is huge, unusual, modern design, every detail has been thought out, the waiting rooms are spacious, no hustle, incredible cleanliness everywhere!
There are vending machines with cold and hot water and paper cups all over the airport.
There is a carpet on the floor in the boarding gate area, on which you can safely walk in white socks.

Unfortunately, I didn't really have time to look at it - the transfer at this airport was only twenty hours, I was afraid of being late, so I ran as fast as I could. Fortunately, we made it on time, without incident. There was no need to check in the luggage, both flights were from the same airline. The Chinese, of course, are tough, they even got into the waistband of their jeans, took away lighters, and people had problems with powerbanks, but I didn't have anything like that, so everything went quickly. Despite the huge size of the airport, it felt like we were walking along it quite a bit, I think the gates were specially selected not far from each other. (It was very different in Guangzhou, with the same short transfer, we ran and ran, and it seemed there would never be an end to the airport.)
And we were lucky - there was an entrance to the Chinese garden right next to our gate. While the queue was moving, we managed to look in. The airport experience is the best.
