The Suleymaniye Mosque. Free entrance, there are shawls and skirts, shelves for shoes, you can take pictures. There's a great viewing room here. It was built with such attention to detail that it survived 89 serious earthquakes (above 7 points) and more than a hundred small ones.
Ostrich eggs are located among the lamps. With their help, Sinan repelled spiders (insects are repelled by smell). Thus, he saved the mosque from fires, because cobwebs on chandeliers have repeatedly caused fires in temples.
A room for collecting soot. At that time, the mosque was illuminated by 250-300 candlesticks. Soot from them, using a special ventilation system in the upper part of the walls, accumulated in a separate room and was used to make ink. The books written by them have been preserved in the Suleymaniye Library.
In the courtyard of the mosque there are tombs of Sultan Suleiman and his beloved wife Hurrem. We also know them from the TV series The Magnificent Century.
