The hotel is conveniently located on a mountainside, a 10-minute walk from Karon Beach (its south side) and a street with shops and cafes, so the area is quiet, near the forest, birds chirp in the morning, cicadas chirp at night.
The territory is very green, well maintained, clean, several pools with sun loungers, a bar and umbrellas.
The staff is polite, friendly, and always ready to help with any questions. Room cleaning every day. They clean well. Tips for cleaning were sometimes left, it's up to discretion. I think even Alyonka's chocolate bar will be nice, because chocolate is available in stores for the price of a bottle of whiskey. There are 2 sets of towels: white only in the room and beige, which can be taken to the beach and pool. There are slippers, bathrobes in the room, toothpaste and brushes, soap, shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom. There is also a safe, refrigerator, kettle, glasses, tea, coffee, water, a box with napkins.
The room was 1231 on the 3rd floor, nice. the furniture is in good condition, clean, with a balcony. There is light in the room, air conditioning and sockets work through the "control panel". There are Russian channels on TV, you can watch them on a special sheet - everything is indicated.
The balcony overlooks the pool and garden.
Meals - breakfast (buffet: eggs, cereals, pastries, yoghurts, jams, cereals, vegetables, fruits, fried bacon, sausage, cheese, pastries, bread, stewed vegetables, fish, coffee, tea, delicious freshly squeezed juices - guava, orange and pineapple).
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, but according to the menu and price list. The hotel hosts days with buffet dinners for 500 baht.
On the day of departure, there was a late departure, at the reception, suitcases were waiting in the lobby for their departure, and we asked for things (hand luggage) - we put them behind the counter. There is a relaxation room where you can drink coffee for free. There is a toilet and a shower on site, and a towel is provided at the reception.
The hotel had a children's corner, a gym, and a spa. Overall, I really liked it.
The normal option for your money:
- the hotel is located on Karon beach, at its very edge, from where you can walk to Kata. It takes just a few minutes to walk to Karon Beach from the hotel (go down the paved path from the hotel, cross the road and the beach). It takes 15-20 minutes to get to Patong by car.
- the beach is comfortable - there are paid sun beds with umbrellas, if necessary, or you can sit on a towel to the side. The coastline is wide enough, so there is no problem with the location. The entrance to the sea is shallow, without rocks (there are several large ones from the very edge, but it looks great and does not interfere in any way). You can admire the fish without swimming away from the shore.
- near the hotel there are restaurants, massages, shops, pharmacies, bike and car rentals, sightseeing tents, fruit stalls, Starbucks, even a public transport stop, in case someone needs it)
- the territory of the hotel is quite large - there are many buildings, several swimming pools (although we haven't been to any of them :)), there is a gym, but we didn't get there either. The territory is clean, no insects or other animals were seen, except for a couple of small geckos. The territory is clearly being treated and made sure that there are no "uninvited guests."
- the breakfasts are quite good, and considering that this is Thai, they are generally good: a buffet, there is a separate station where scrambled eggs / omelet / scramble are prepared on request, pepper, ham, cheese are added if desired. The buffet always includes vegetables, fruits, cheeses, sausages, noodles, chicken dishes, stewed vegetables, sausages, soups, pastries.
- the room is spacious, there is a clothes dryer on the balcony. The bathroom has both a bathtub and a shower room. The bed is wide, the mattress is comfortable, the linen and towels are clean.
- cleaning every day.
- there are beach towels in the room, they are also changed regularly.
- kettle, slippers, refrigerator, hair dryer (I haven't tried how it works), drinking water - everything is there
- there is parking for cars at the entrance to the hotel
- the staff is very friendly and courteous
If you are not afraid of the small rise to the hotel from the beach and do not want to spend extra money for the hotel (the hotel was important to us for the location and to sleep and have breakfast), then it is quite a good option for its price.
The review is for all those who are going to the hotel and are worried based on the latest reviews.
The hotel has indeed been closed for about four years. At the moment, restoration work is actively underway, Thais are rustling everywhere and putting everything in proper shape. So fast that you don't have time to keep track.
In fact, half of the hotel is now functioning, the rest is under renovation. Swimming pools, restaurant, reception, pool bar are open. Today we started to restore the mini club, so I think it won't be long before it opens. You don't even notice the other half of the hotel
Location : excellent, relative to the entire infrastructure. From the beach, go to a decent hill, keep in mind, if you have health problems, choosing this location is not an option.
From the hotel down and to the right there are many cafes and a promenade, down and to the left there is about everything you may need on vacation: shops, exchangers, pharmacies, cafes, a market, a nearby beach. The location is really very successful, the sea is clean, there are waves.
We wrote above about the unfriendly reception staff. We've worked it out. They meet smiling girls, treat them with cold apple juice, check in on time, and someone even earlier.
Cleaning: honestly - average. They make the bed, add toilet paper, throw out the trash. If you ask for something extra, they will not refuse.
Room stock : that's where you have to be ready. There is a smell of dampness in the rooms (which you eventually get used to), there are shabbiness, dim lighting, not the most successful beds. The bed linen is perfectly white, as well as towels and bathrobes. By the way, beach towels are given out and changed without any problems. The room has a clothes dryer on the balcony, there are also a couple of chairs, a table. There is a TV, air conditioning (copes well, adjusts to the desired temperature), there is a free safe, shampoo and soap dispensers. Hot water starts to be supplied at 10 a.m., I do not know what is the reason. The room is spacious. As an additional place, there is a small sofa. A deposit of 2000 baht for the entire stay. At first it's a little annoying, but then you realize that for this amount you can take drinks at the pool bar.
Swimming pool : currently there are two deep and one shallow. Clean.
Territory : large, slightly cascading, green. Flowers, palm trees are everywhere, there is no shortage of sun loungers and umbrellas, although the occupancy is almost complete. For the new year, they are actively decorated with garlands, Christmas trees, and installations.
Restaurant : open for breakfast, the assortment is good : soup, rice, potatoes, pasta, chicken, beef, fish, vegetables, eggs, herbs, sauces, a couple of salads, bread, sliced cheese, meat, yoghurts, butter, cereals with milk, fruits : watermelon, melon, passion fruit, guava, papaya. Drinks: coffee, water, juices.
In a couple of months, they will put things in order and there will be candy in general. At the moment, for the price that it is being sold, it is quite a working option. We did not regret choosing Horizon.
