One of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks, Galata Tower offers stunning panoramic views over the city and the Bosphorus. It’s absolutely worth visiting, especially around sunset. Just be mindful of the area—there are some overpriced restaurants and classic tourist traps nearby, so plan ahead.
One of my favorite places in this amazing city. It is a fascinating building and a magnificent architecture. This place reeks of history. I breathe it in every time i come here.
We lived in Istanbul next to this tower, the very center. There are a lot of tourists, the awesome energy of this place. The tower itself is illuminated in the evening with all kinds of patterns, very beautiful. A wonderful place for a hiking trip! The tower stands on a hill, and it can be seen from almost everywhere. So we could easily find our place of residence from everywhere.
Galata Tower in Istanbul is one of the wonderful sights of the city. The tower stands on a hill, it can be seen from almost any area of the Turkish capital. From above, there is a magnificent view of Istanbul, including the Bosphorus, the Asian part of the city and the Golden Horn. The sunset view is especially beautiful. The tower is a historical place, there is a restaurant and cafe on top, which are reached by two elevators. There is a nightclub at the foot. However, there are disadvantages: there are a lot of people in the tower during rush hour, and there are queues for elevators. Also, some users note that admission is more expensive for tourists than for locals. In general, the Galata Tower leaves a positive impression, and it is worth a visit to enjoy the beauty of Istanbul from the height of the tower.
One of those places in Istanbul that is definitely worth a visit! The view from the top is simply mesmerizing: the whole city is in full view, especially beautiful at sunset. The queue for the lift can be quite long, but everything is organized well, everything is moving fast. Inside the tower there is a modern exposition telling about the history of Istanbul and the tower itself. The atmosphere is incredible, and the photos are simply magical! I highly recommend you to visit.
A must-visit! There are wonderful beautiful streets and shops with reasonable prices all around. Beauty! A visit to the tower itself costs 30 euros in lira. I should probably go inside and climb up to the observation deck. We didn't go, just walked around and had coffee next to each other. On the way to the tram, you can walk along the famous Komodo Staircase, built in the 19th century.
Positive:
- a truly historical landmark
- stands out in the area for its height and originality
- beautifully illuminated in the evening
- you can take beautiful photos against her, it's worth going down a little bit.
Cons:
- the price. It's not completely clear what justifies it, I mean, to get inside, pay 30 euros just to see the view from the tower, well, it's like that, since there are other ways to see the same view for free
- besides the view, I didn't understand what to pay for in principle, but maybe I'm the only one like that.
A beautiful tourist point for a landmark and romantic photos. It's especially beautiful in the evening when everything is illuminated. The Galata Tower was a symbolic landmark for our company. A huge number of cafes with panoramic views. Must-visit
An iconic place in Istanbul, a historical monument of architecture, an observation tower. An elevator will take you up. Standing on a hill, be ready to climb the narrow beautiful streets in a sporty way or take a taxi. When you are in Istanbul, be sure to go, the city is in the palm of your hand. There is a small exposition on the floors on the way down. The only problem is, everything has become expensive. 50 euros per ticket, in my opinion, is too expensive to visit for 30-40 minutes.
I didn't go up to the observation deck, I took beautiful photos near the tower. There are a lot of cafes around for every taste and budget. The streets are very cozy from the tower, visited 2 times in 6 days, enjoyed walking along the narrow streets.
The tower is very interesting. We went up to her through the tunnel on a tram. 27 lire as on any tram. It only takes 2 minutes. We went out and went to the tower. It's huge, it's impressive. The backlight is very beautiful. At 20 o'clock, they turned on the installation on it (a color picture). As it got dark, the impression changed, some kind of medieval spirit, as it became in a fairy tale. We drank wine right next to the cafe with windows on the tower.
It is beautiful, this place inspires not only the history of the tower, because it was originally a lighthouse, Akhmet Celebi also jumped from it on homemade wings and flew over the Bosphorus) But the area around it is also a stunning Dutch street, where there are many cafes and shops, heaters work in winter and you can drink coffee and warm up, I also recommend everyone to order a dessert San Sebastian in chocolate. even going up to the tower itself is a pleasure. From the tower you can quickly walk to Istiklal (the most beautiful avenue in the city) 😉
Being in Istanbul and not being here is an unforgivable carelessness!
The impressive size and history of this place attracts tourists from all over the world.
Unfortunately, I did not go upstairs, it was very cold and windy (mid-March). But on the other hand, I walked around the narrow, cozy and absolutely charming streets.
The ticket costs 30 euros, by the way. There was no queue.
A great opportunity to see the city from the height of a 360-degree bird flight, a view of Sofia and the entire panorama of the city. Entrance is paid, the platform inside the tower has different tiers, on one side there is a mock-up of the city, above there is an exit to the observation part. To visit undoubtedly when traveling to Istanbul.
It is very high, there are quite a lot of people who want to get inside. You can find the Galata Tower by following a variety of signs in English, wandering a little through the narrow streets of Istanbul)) There is a cafe nearby where you can relax after drinking coffee and enjoying a delicious cheesecake poured with chocolate.
5 stars only for the view, the tower itself is not particularly interesting. To the top by elevator, back only on foot up a very steep spiral staircase. There are very long queues first at the ticket office, then at the tower itself, you can spend about 2 hours.
2 Tips
1) Buy a ticket from them on their website in advance and thus stand less
2) Go closer to sunset, the sunset from the tower is fantastic
Galata Tower is one of the historical sights, which offers a good view of the historical part of Istanbul. I don't see any point in describing it, since it is one of the main places visited by tourists. Istiklal Street is just passing by, along which you can then walk and, of course, see the famous red tram. There are a lot of tourists in these locations
I love the atmosphere near the Galata Tower! There are many cozy cafes. The tower itself is beautifully illuminated in the evening. It is also worth going up, despite the price of the entrance ticket. The view from above is excellent 👌🏼
A great place for those who are visiting Istanbul for the first time. Nearby there is a pastry shop with a view of the tower, where they sell the famous and insanely delicious cheesecakes Sae Sebastian. The price is around 400 lire.
It's better to come in the morning. There are a lot of people from 13 to 19
A favorite attraction not only for tourists, but also for the local population. There are always a lot of people. A place that is constantly "bustling" with life. There are many coffee shops nearby where there is good coffee, tea and cakes.
A place for spectacular photos and videos. )
At night, beautiful view. Walking in the tower area is a pleasure. There are many cafes and shops. But during the day there are too many people, you have to stand in a giant queue twice to get up. Once to get a ticket, and the other time to get up. If you don't mind being in Istanbul and spending two hours standing in line, then welcome But we preferred other places to visit.
I would like to purchase tickets online by a certain time. And bypass queues, but unfortunately, so far there is no such function (
An iconic landmark of Istanbul. There are many beautiful old narrow streets around, which in themselves are very interesting for walking. It's full of tourists. An abundance of cafes.
The place is a must-see. It is one of the "business cards" of Istanbul. There are many atmospheric streets around where you can enjoy a walk and drink coffee with a view of the tower.
One of the favorite places in Istanbul. I advise you to go to vivianna cafe, over a cup of coffee with cheesecake, Sans Sebastian will enjoy the views of the Galata Tower.(the range of desserts is good)
In the evening, there is an interesting illuminating show on the walls of the tower.I must say right away the place is crowded, especially in the evening, so for photos with fewer people it is better to choose the hours before lunch
An interesting architectural place. The tower is located on a serious elevation. Getting to the tower through the fabulous streets is more interesting than the tower itself. There is a fee to climb the tower and a queue. It is worth a visit, very beautiful picturesque architecture and color. A crowd of people.
This is a landmark. That says it all. There are a lot of people who want to go up and enjoy the view of the Bosphorus. It is located next to Istiklal Street. It's easy to find. There are many cafes, restaurants, shops nearby.
Great, but this place
is a must-visit, if you are coming from the Galata Bridge, use the lift (free). It will be less comfortable on foot and it is better to return downstairs on foot, stopping at small cafes.
It's interesting to get up and take a look. There are a lot of people. There are several cafes and pizzerias nearby. There is a historic tram and funicular nearby.
A must when visiting Istanbul.
I highly recommend it to those who are friends with health. But he's not friends with....
First, from the embankment, you will hike up the mountain through the city streets. At the same time, the slope of the asphalt is well 35 degrees. In other words, it's like going uphill vertically.
There's a bonus waiting for you at the top. Paid entrance to the tower. It seems 2500 rubles of the Russian Federation. Per person.
Next to the tower. Where people are like cockroaches in a trash can. How to get up or down comfortably... forget it.
It's especially good upstairs. If you throw a couple of people through the viewing windows and you can gain a foothold with at least one of them, then the feeling of a meaningful loss of money begins to appear. But not for long. You are already being carried somewhere without your will …
The famous landmark of Istanbul. From the top of the tower there is a beautiful view of the city, the tower is located in the very center of the European part of the city. One of the disadvantages is the huge queues to get up.
Stunning 360° view, informative museum, everything is in very good condition.
A rather expensive entrance ticket is 30€ per person for tourists. The queue may be long, but it moves fast.
It is beautiful, the area is small at the foot of the tower, it is really visible from both the Bosphorus and the bridge, they did not climb, there are very long queues. It is better to spend this time walking around the area
The tower is recognized as one of the oldest in the world, it appeared on the shores of the Bosphorus approximately in 1348. It is believed that the foundation of the tower was laid by the Genoese, who captured Istanbul. It was built as the dominant defensive fortress.
Inside there are nine floors, most of which are occupied by the archaeological museum. His exhibition is dedicated to the history of the tower on Galata Hill: from the time of the Byzantines to the period of the Ottoman Empire. There are instruments for astronomical observations, a large historical model of Istanbul, and even a multimedia screen with a reconstruction of the appearance of the Turkish Icarus, Ahmet Celebi, and his wings, with which he made his legendary flight.
The observation deck offers an excellent panoramic view of the Uskyudar area in the Asian part of Istanbul.
The main sights of the city are also visible: Ayia‑Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace.
If you want to take gorgeous photos… This way for you) also surrounded by a large number of cafes with a great view, but always a full landing! Check with the cafe if there may be views from the roof on the upper floors.
I advise you to come here for breakfast ... and there will be few people) or rather noticeably fewer)))
It's always very lively in this place.
This place is one of the symbols of Istanbul. Cool location. You can climb the tower for separately purchased tickets.
Nearby is the Beyoglu station, with the oldest meter in Istanbul and Europe!
The peculiar area of Istanbul, like the whole of Istanbul, will not leave you indifferent, the road to the tower with a large slope, the tower on the hill. We didn't go inside – 30€ is too expensive. It is clear that the tower has been rebuilt more than once, but it looks grandiose, it is worth building a route through this landmark, especially since the street with the Istiklal tram is not far away.
It is a beautiful landmark, the tower itself has not been climbed, but the views from below are wonderful, the streets nearby are very colorful. There are many cafes in the Galata Tower area
A wonderful walking place . You can climb the tower and see the most beautiful view of the Bosphorus. It 's been crowded since day 12 . If you want beautiful photos without crowds of people, it's better to come at 10:30-11. We went to Egono for breakfast, at the foot of the Galata Tower.
Great location! We lived not far from the Marmaris hotel and walking, plus shopping, and the breakfasts and lunches were great! I liked everything so much that I don't want to go to Istanbul anymore.
The medieval Genoese Tower in the Galata part of Istanbul's Beyoglu district is a must-see! It is recognized as one of the oldest in the world, appeared on the shores of the Bosphorus around 1348. It is believed that the foundation of the tower was laid by the Genoese, who captured Istanbul. It was built as the dominant defensive fortress. Touch the story and feel it where it was created)
1100 lire!
This is the only negative
A beautiful fashionable place
There are many cafes around, people are walking
A light show is shown on the tower in the evening
But we didn't go up to the 1100lr tower, there's a cafe with a terrace next to it, and there's a similar view from there
Very beautiful evening lighting!!! A view of the night city, but there is no longer a huge queue for the observation deck)) Nearby is a nice atmospheric street with cafes overlooking the tower. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and spectacular dynamic lighting of the tower.
The view from the Galata Tower is simply amazing. It is best to climb it before sunset to look at the city both during the day and at night, when all the lights come on.
Of the disadvantages, it can be noted that tickets have become very expensive, and there are constant queues for tickets and for climbing the tower.
