Cleanliness, friendly attentive staff, a lot of rest chairs, the location of flight waiting areas is well thought out (isolated behind transparent blind partitions, from the flow of passengers on other flights), soft free chairs according to the number of seats on the plane, only passengers of the flight can go to this area, there are no strangers! Clean toilets.prices in food zones are only in dollars, it makes sense to issue cards for VIP zones with free meals, but Russian cards are now blocked everywhere and do not work.
In my opinion, everything is fine, the staff is friendly, the location is clear, even the customs officers are smiling
It's clean, cool, and there's a patio with a pond and fountains.
You can exchange currency, have a snack, lots of shops
Good-natured staff, calm atmosphere, everything is decent and dignified. Quiet inspection, no fuss. The gates and the passage through them are well organized, there are enough places to wait. After the airport in Hurghada, it's just a blessing here!
An ordinary airport. We found everything quickly. The building is clean. It would not hurt to refresh the renovation. Upon departure, after passing through border control, you enter the Dytu free zone, passing through it you get to the cafe area (there are several of them), where you can buy a snack, as well as visit the bathroom (recommended), because after the final inspection, waiting for boarding in the aquarium (a room fenced off with glass) - there is nothing there except chairs. Of course, you can get out, but it's not very convenient to go against the queue with bags.
The airport has become much better in recent years. Logistics is getting better, and passing controls is faster and more comfortable. You don't even need to apply for a visa for Russian citizens. The whole procedure takes literally 20 minutes from the plane ramp to the exit to the city. The exchange rate is not the most profitable in Colombo, but it is not extortionate either. You can buy a local SIM card.
The airport is quite beautiful and clean. The visa was issued quickly, within 2 minutes, all other inspections were completed within 20 minutes + luggage. There is a place to drink coffee, have a snack, charge your phone or tablet, there is a smoking area, a fairly large dutik.
A small modern airport. The inspection was carried out quickly. All navigation is intuitive, even for those who do not speak English. There is everything that passengers need. Clear. Cafes and shops are available. The gates have plenty of seating.
The airport is good. I liked absolutely everything. Cleanliness, easy to navigate, good duty-free service, lots of currency exchange offices, friendly staff. There were queues at passport control, but they were moving fast. Everything is fast and clear. We were flying with a child, so we checked in through a separate counter.
The airport is not very big. Everything is organized more or less conveniently. In some areas, the air conditioners did not work well. And one more disadvantage (at least I noticed it) is a very dusty floor. I put the suitcase down to make things more comfortable, and when I picked it up, the side lying on the floor was covered in dust. Be careful with this.
A good airport, similar to a large shopping mall. Here you can eat, exchange currency (in any direction), and shop. However, the prices are biting: for example, a magnet that cost 350 rupees in the city will cost 1000 rupees here. And they charge a commission for currency exchange.
As for direct airport services, there is a good organization, fast service, everything is clear and understandable. But it must be borne in mind that:
- you will be kept at the entrance (fortunately it is a large corridor with air conditioning) until check-in for your flight begins
- you will not find out about the flight delay at the airport, because there are no announcements about it and there will be time from tickets on the scoreboard, so there are 2 options: check the online scoreboard at the airport of your city, or sit at the gate and wait for the start of boarding
Slowly, but at the same time everything is fast and clear. It's clean, everything you need for arrivals and departures is there, there is a large selection of everything in duty-free stores, but don't hope - the prices are decent
A good international airport. There is everything you need. Kiosks with cellular communication, banks, various souvenir shops, cafes,
Upon departure, the inspection of passengers and hand luggage right before boarding. We need to set aside time for this.
A fairly large and comfortable airport. There are exchangers with a good exchange rate and mobile operators. The food is more expensive than in our airports and there are few of them.
Duty free is expensive and small.
Many people write the truth: the airport is strange and inconvenient. Some kind of misunderstanding. During the inspections, items are randomly selected (including those allowed and purchased in duty free). Check-in for the flight opens late. The counters on my flight were completely confused, at first some numbers lit up on the scoreboard, and people went to the counter. They wouldn't let me in there, they said it was a check-in for another flight. Then the number of the racks on the scoreboard was stupidly replaced with others. This is despite the fact that registration is very slow and starts late. The gates before departure are closed rooms. The airport itself is small, there are a lot of people, there is nowhere to sit down. Sometimes the navigation is strange. The first time I saw it at the airport check-in desk with something like this text: "Due to the specific airport security, the toilets are..." However, I passed through customs quickly, without visas and any special documents.
Upon arrival, I stood in line for a SIM card for ~40 minutes. I exchanged the currency quickly.
All the inspections were carried out quickly and efficiently. There are plenty of places to recharge your phone at the airport. There is a place to eat. Very smiling staff
A small, modern, convenient airport. Very clean. Friendly staff, clear navigation, enough seats to wait for the flight. Very tasty locally produced coffee. Wonderful souvenir and jewelry shops. A huge number of exchangers with a very attractive exchange rate. In general, it is almost an ideal air harbor.
A pleasant, small airport.
Quick passage of control, both there and back!
Friendly staff.
Everything is clear and understandable.
A little duty free, and through too much intrusive consultants!
A fairly clear airport. The only thing we encountered for the first time was that we were carrying bicycles and after they were checked in, we were asked to simply leave them in the check-in hall, while at other airports we usually take them to the oversized baggage reception. It was a little scary to leave the bikes in a hall full of people, we waited until the floor builders picked them up and went to board.
A good, intuitive airport. The staff work very fast. But there is one moment to take off. There are no toilets in the waiting area. These are glass cabins from which there is only access to the plane. And the last inspection is just before this area. Therefore, after check-in, I advise you to take a walk around the airport, and not long before boarding, go for a second inspection and into a clean area. Tk is no longer being released from there.

Bandaranaike Airport (Colombo Airport) is the main air gateway of Sri Lanka, and my impression of it is mixed. On the one hand, it is a fairly modern airport with a good selection of shops and cafes, especially after passing through passport control. The arrival area is conveniently organized, and the staff is usually polite.
On the other hand, there are sometimes queues at passport control, especially during peak hours. Transport links to Colombo can be a bit tricky, especially if you arrive at night. It is worth taking care of the transfer in advance. In general, the airport is functional, but lacks some special atmosphere that would reflect the culture of Sri Lanka. Hopefully, in the future, the processes will be improved and more authentic elements will be added.
The airport is small, the inspection was quick, everything is clear, the airport staff speak a little English and Russian, you can understand, there is an interpreter at check-in, it will help in unclear situations, there is a problem with cleanliness, especially in the toilet, there is nothing to say about duty-free shops, as everywhere else.
The airport itself is not bad, it's not hot, it's calm, but an hour before boarding begins, they write "last call" on the online scoreboard, everyone runs to the boarding gate in a panic that they don't have time, for some reason they drive everyone into one room without a toilet, from where you can't get out and you have to sit there for almost an hourinstead of sitting in a cafe or walking around the airport at this hour.
A simple airport. Everything a traveler needs is there! Without the fuss, confusion, and a bunch of boutiques that you'll get tired of walking through. The staff is friendly! Oh, and I love Sri Lanka!!!
A good and convenient airport. I would say standard. There are many shops in the departure area. There is a DutyFree both on arrival and on departure. It's small, but there is.
The whole inspection was quick enough, the prices in Duty Free for cosmetics are different, if you have time, go and find where it's cheaper, it's a pity there's no underwear on sale, in general everything is fine.
Of the advantages:
Feel free to change money and buy SIM cards
Of the cons:
It is difficult and long to get there by public transport on your own, and it is expensive to take a taxi. There are no hotels nearby
Money is exchanged back to dollars with a commission and additional fees
Terribly expensive luggage drop-off service
There is a lounge from the t bank. Not the best, but with rum and food
An international class airport. Comfortable waiting chairs, decafri with a variety of products, currency exchange before check-in for boarding!
And after check-in, you can't go anywhere!)
There is only a snack cafe to the control area, where they sold a terrible burger with a rubber chicken in a spicy stone batter. I threw it away. The toilets in the airport entrance waiting area were closed:(
At the entrance, they clung to the powerbank. They were only allowed in hand luggage. They demanded electronic registration at the counter through the entire queue, even though I had no luggage. There are few shops and restaurants inside. Everything is expensive, but I didn't find mango tea. The airport is average.
It's a good airport.
Modern, high-quality.
If you want to buy cheap souvenirs, you need to do it BEFORE PASSPORT CONTROL!!!
AROUND the AIRPORT, you can buy everything you need to look for all over Sri Lanka and at normal, good prices... in this country, exchangers also work without large commissions and money can be changed immediately at the airport.... unlike BAHRAIN...In Bahrain, the fee for exchanging money at the airport is one third...
The main thing is if you have a transfer from the hotel and you want to buy cheap souvenirs, ask for it to be carried out an hour earlier so that you have time to walk in this interesting place ;)
Convenient airport. There are ATMs in the baggage claim area. In December 2024, money was withdrawn from a Komershal Bank ATM (from a Unionpay or Rosselkhoznadzor card). In the departure area there is a burger joint and a pizza hut (from the one we know). The card didn't work anywhere in the departure area, I had to pay only in cash (fast food and duty free)
It is cleanly beautiful, allowed with an overload of 6 kg, the staff is friendly, + - speak broken English, the business hall did not meet expectations, 2 halls are duty free
they run to the airport when checking the ticket, there are many places to sit, there is a burger joint and something else, many duty free shops, do not take water, many clean toilets, air conditioning works, there are several business halls.
It's a big, beautiful airport. The staff has a very nice uniform. At check-in, the staff themselves suggest that passengers with children go to a separate queue. The only drawback is that flights are not announced and it is difficult to navigate by boarding time.
The airport is relatively small. The arrival and departure areas are located in the same place. Before boarding the plane, an additional personal inspection is carried out, more thorough. Then everyone is waiting for the landing in a glass room. It's not very convenient.
A large airport. Everything is there. But it is at least 5 times more expensive than in the city.
Outwardly, it seems to be European, in fact, Asian-primitive. There are practically no fixed prices.
A normal airport. We stood for a while at the registration. And the rest of the posts are all fast. There are many shops, cafes, local souvenirs. A cool massage parlor at the airport. The only thing that is not clear is why they are not allowed to enter the departure area with water. I had to throw away everything I bought on the flight. And there is no toilet in the same departure area. Otherwise, no problems
A modern airport, the perfect staff is ready to help you at any second, the Sri Lankans are very friendly people.

Great airport, lots of space, spacious. No hustle, everything is clear. There are many small cafes and shops. Clean, spacious toilets. The airport staff are dressed in national clothes, everyone is polite and has a smile on their face.
It is small, there is a smoking room (in one of the Duke fries). But they like to get people into the drive long before boarding, so take your time, then you won't be able to go to the toilet, smoke, or buy water.
Colombo Airport looks more like an indoor market building than an international air hub. Well, the boarding area and additional security right in front of the plane is extremely inconvenient! In conclusion, it is only worth adding about the absolutely inadequate prices in duty free. In general, there is a lot to grow! Moreover, there are many)
A normal airport, a little duty free, but the glasses seemed fake to me.
It's a long way from duty to the exits, there's a business lounge, and you can walk from premium Tbank.
To the attention of those leaving! The Colombo airport does not accept rupees!!! If you have any left, spend it to the airport. Poor little dude, you can eat in three cafes. The toilets are constantly cleaned. 5 levels of verification (two of them with a name) - do not relax.
