A medieval fortress in the Turkish city of Bodrum, on the territory of ancient Halicarnassus, which previously housed one of the Seven Wonders of the World — the mausoleum of the Carian ruler Mausolus (Greek: μαύσωλος). The famous mausoleum, located near the coastline, suffered several earthquakes and was finally destroyed by a strong earthquake in 1402. From this date, the Knights Hospitaller from Rhodes Island began the construction of a fortress that could protect the harbors of the city. The castle was built on a hill, on the very place where the temple of Apollo was located in ancient times. Most of the finds from the Uluburun ship of the 14th century BC are located here
I really enjoyed walking around the castle grounds, of course, there are many air-conditioned halls, interesting installations) there is a coffee shop, souvenirs, toilets) it seems like an expensive entrance, but in general it's worth it) a very beautiful view of the marina!
Everything is very cool and interesting, but the cost of entrance tickets is off the charts...It's better to come at sunset. It's not that hot and the photos are great. A must-see exhibit featuring a raised and restored ancient Greek ship. This is probably the most interesting indoor exhibit.
