A very beautiful place, a beautiful castle (open in winter),entrance 145kr for an adult. I saw for the first time a real meteorite that Goethe wrote about, the castle is full of stories, including scary ones, be sure to go to the wing of the prison and torture, you can see everything there, how people were kept and how the necessary information was beaten out of them.

The Gothic castle Hrad Loket near Karlovy Vary in the picturesque elbow-shaped bend of the Ogres River is harsh, majestic and very cold. It is very beautiful from the side of the bridge. The fortress, around which a tiny picturesque town was formed, with an 800-year history, a very difficult fate, a dragon, a tower, a porcelain museum, an overly naturalistic torture chamber and its own meteorite, which was checked out by Goethe himself, who celebrated his 74th birthday in Loket. As in every self-respecting castle, there are dwarves in Loket, each with their own specialization. For example, the dwarf Gottstein is called upon to fulfill good wishes and at the same time replenish the treasury (because in order to realize dreams, tourists must certainly put a coin in the box, which was done). But what part of the dwarf needs to be petted for? Obviously, the polished beard glitters with "gold", but in the explanatory text we are talking about the tips of Gottstein's mustache! At the same time, everything is correct in the English version – beard. However, guides and guidebooks in Russian are the vicissitudes of translation! – they persist in talking about the gnome's mustache. If necessary, check for yourself, because the castle is definitely worth a visit

If you get there with children aged 8-12, do not walk around the castle with them, let them drive around this castle on their own, without excursions and stories. They will be wildly interested, there are so many different levels, passages, corners, balconies... Exploring a company without adults will be a lifelong memory. And you can sit in a cafe, have a beer, coffee. There is nothing to do there the second time, once it is quite informative.
