The Whala Hotel! Bayahibe is located in the Dominican Republic on the southeastern coast of the Caribbean Sea. Bayahibe is a quiet small fishing village with a beach and a small port. This part of the coast is protected from the winds, the sea is always calm, or, as the Dominicans like to say, mar tranquilo. This part of the island's coast is preferred by divers and tourists looking for a relaxing holiday. I chose this place on the advice of my friend, who has been living for a long time in the Dominican Republic, then in Siberia. And the hotel has already booked at random according to the all-inclusive system.
The hotel itself occupies a significant territory surrounded by well-groomed greenery, is marked with four stars and consists of several 3-5-storey buildings with balconies in the rooms. I booked a room with a sea view. The room is spacious, equipped with everything necessary for a carefree holiday, including fairly stable free Wi-fi, and pleasantly, although without much frills, decorated.
I would like to mention the boarding house in particular. A gastronomic paradise reigns in the detached building of the restaurant. Dinners are devoted almost daily to various national cuisines - Mexican, Italian, Spanish and others. Breakfasts and lunches are also on top. An abundance of fruits and freshly squeezed juices.
The hotel has an outdoor bar near several pools, where various cocktails flow like a river, including the national Dominican drink mamahuana, consisting of rum, honey and red wine infused with dried chips of the trunk of some local plant. By the way, this chip can be purchased at any souvenir shop in the country for moderate money, brought home and infused with mamahuana at home, which I did.
In the evenings, animators, circus performers, and dancers appear on the territory of the hotel, creating a festive atmosphere.
Perhaps I described my pleasant memories of the hotel too "tasty", so I want to remember to mention one big drawback, important for people who prefer hotels with their own beach. He's not here. It is possible to enter the water on the territory of the hotel, but it is inconvenient from the word at all. Tourists here use several pools, near which they sunbathe while sipping cocktails. To get to a good beach, you need to go through the village past a lot of souvenir and grocery stores for about 10-15 minutes, or take an open hotel electric car-minivan cruising back and forth.
I did not find any other serious disadvantages, although this one did not particularly upset me. The tour organizer, smiling and cheerful guide Jose, is almost constantly present at the hotel. If you decide to choose the Whala Hotel for your vacation! bayahibe, I recommend using its services, you will not be disappointed. If you want to book several excursions from him, you can bargain with him.
I hope my feedback will be useful. Enjoy your stay, and be careful of the tropical sun.
