It's a very atmospheric place. We entered the fortress from the eastern gate. The road is blocked, and a path leads to the fortress. Trees and ruins of fortifications. It really gives you goosebumps.
Earlier in this place there was one of the main entrances to the Brest fortress from the city - the Eastern Gate. The gate disappeared after an unsuccessful mine clearance in 1944. On October 12, 1944, an ammunition disposal group under the command of Lieutenant Zhvavy made a mistake when checking newly received ammunition at the warehouse. A high-power explosion occurred. The explosion formed a huge funnel, which later became a lake. The group carrying out the mine clearance died in full force.
P.S.: The photo of the Eastern Gate was taken on the Internet from open sources.
