Are you a believer or just a tourist?! You definitely need to go to the very top of the mountain to the temple! Three hundred steps, 200 m above sea level and you will be in an Orthodox shrine! The view from here is amazing, just like in the picture! Climbing to the top, passing through the forest on the steps, you see the most beautiful places of Rhodes! I was there in March 2022. The temple was slightly renovated. But they still allowed me to enter and venerate the icons and ancient frescoes on the wall! Be sure to go down to the top of the temple! Unforgettable!! I'm thrilled!!
We had a vacation in Rhodes in 2016, a very beautiful island in all respects. We didn't know anything about the temple before, we got there by pure chance, but for my wife and Me, climbing this mountain and visiting the temple gave Us our third child, a long-awaited and beloved daughter. We were very surprised when we entered the temple, seeing candles in the form of small children instead of the usual candles. We even initially thought that the temple was of a different faith. But then, after Googling, everything became clear to Us. We went to the island on the recommendation of friends, by the way, they also had a baby after visiting this temple. At the top of the mountain, there are very cool views of the island, words cannot describe it, We sat on a bench at the top for a very long time and admired the views of the sea and the island. I advise everyone to visit this holy place, especially those who have difficulties with pregnancy.
We were at church late at night. All the steps are highlighted. The church itself is illuminated. There are really 300 steps to go. The road is not quite simple, but there are shops along the way. When we were walking, there was a strong wind, darkness and not a soul around. There was a feeling of mystery and neutrality. Plus, it so happened that we got to the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I consider it a very worthwhile place to visit.
