The Cathedral of St. Nicholas is very beautiful. It's a pity we didn't get inside ((( St. Nicholas Cathedral on the Old Town Square is a beautiful Baroque church with a very complicated history. A Catholic Gothic church on this site existed already in the XIII century. It has been rebuilt many times. The cathedral acquired its baroque appearance in 1737. In 1781, the Austrian Emperor Joseph II ordered the closure of the Hussite Cathedral. The Prague Magistrate opened a concert hall in the cathedral, as there are excellent acoustics. In 1874, the cathedral was consecrated as Orthodox with the support of the Russian Emperor Alexander II. In 1880, he presented the cathedral with a giant chandelier (a chandelier weighing 1400 kg) in memory of the death of heir Nicholas. After the First World War, the church was used simultaneously by Czech Hussites and Russian Orthodox emigrants. Marina Tsvetaeva baptized her son here. Now it is a Hussite cathedral. The church is open from 10-00 to 17-00 daily. Is free. Classical music concerts are held from April to November, the ticket is 500 CZK.

Be sure to go inside! Yes, the building may not be very attractive for its appearance, but the chandelier and the decorations of the church will pleasantly surprise you!
