The Tunis Municipal Theatre, designed by French architect Jean-Emile Hollandy, was opened on November 20, 1902. It was opened by Jules Massenet's opera Manon. The theater is located in the very center of the city, on Habib Bourguiba Avenue. In the year of its centenary, in 2002, the theater building was restored and now looks quite decent.
