We had a vacation in March 2025. A nice, cozy hotel with a green area where chipmunks and monitor lizards live. Rooms with sea view. Cool, clean, wide beach.
Excursions and tuk tuks were taken from a Russian-speaking guide on the beach, Dylan T. +94 (77) 625 7261 prices are more pleasant than from a tour operator.
We were on a day trip to El, drove a comfortable minivan, the jungle, mountains, tea plantations, the nine-arch bridge and waterfalls are just a delight. We were also very satisfied with the river safari. I recommend it!

We had a vacation in March 2025.
Great hotel, all rooms with ocean views. The food is varied: from steamed vegetables to flaming curry, but the spicy dishes are marked with delicious desserts. The alcohol in the bar is good. All the staff are incredibly friendly and positive. The hotel has a beautiful beach with soft waves and golden sand, a 5-minute walk to the right there is a beach with absolutely no waves and sand with small shells.
Chipmunks, monitor lizards, and iguanas live on the territory of the hotel.

The tours were taken only from him - Ella and river safari. A day trip to Ella was on a comfortable transport in a mini group - a complete delight! Dylan, like no other guide, did everything possible and impossible for us to be satisfied with the tour and returned with a million photos and videos - he took pictures on his phone, suggested camera angles and the most beautiful places on the locations. We were also satisfied with the river safari, saw a lot of exotic animals, fed monkeys, took pictures with a baby crocodile - I highly recommend it!

We had a rest in November 2024.The hotel is very nice.The ocean is next to the waves and 100 m away the ocean with breakwaters can be safely swam.The room faced the ocean, you can always hear the sound of the ocean, it's very cool.Linen is changed daily.We go to the city by tuk tuk. On the first day, we met with a local guide, Nicholas (Nikolai), on the beach near the hotel, very friendly and kind, knows Russian very well, helped us in many ways, prompted us. We visited the market with him, bought tea, spices, etc. for a small amount of money, he took it to all the shops. We visited the lighthouse, the Buddha Temple, very interesting! Nikolai always talks about everything around him, without such an escort it would not be so interesting. We rode Nikolai's Tuk Tuk, he drives very carefully, thanks a lot for that) We heartily recommend Nicholas!

We stayed at The Palms Hotel from March 6 to March 16, 2025. The room is nice (with a view of the ocean), although a little tired. The service is good. The food is normal. There is no animation, but this is a big plus. The hotel is well located in relation to the beaches. You can choose where to swim. Nearby (on both sides of the hotel) there are restaurants where you can (for a very reasonable price) eat fresh seafood. Very tasty!
We did not buy excursions from the tour operator (anex), because the offers on dates and our wishes did not match (and are more expensive than the offers on the beach). In addition, the guide from anextures is not really interested in solving your emerging needs.

We vacationed in Palms in October 2024. A great hotel with friendly, friendly staff. There are a lot of reviews and they are all 100% accurate. The holiday hotel was chosen for them. A magnificent beach, part of the time spent on the beach with waves near the hotel, part of the time on the beach without waves. The beach with waves is more interesting and more fun, it is comfortable to jump on the waves.
The food is traditional + European, but I recommend trying it before applying, especially if with a child, the food is often spicy. Classic breakfast
In the evenings, everyone sits in the lobby, this is definitely not a party hotel, so everyone sits and drinks steadily

Nice hotel. Large territory, lots of greenery, the ocean is 100 meters away. A big plus is that all rooms have ocean views. Access from the ground floor rooms to the lawn and pool area. Cleaning and changing of towels in the room daily. The room has a standard set of furniture: a bed, a small sofa, a low table, a mirror, a TV, a wardrobe. Everything is concise. There is a safe.
The menu is varied, with a very large selection of dishes for every taste, but most of them, of course, with a national twist - with spices from little spicy to deviled (baking in the mouth).
The list of drinks includes rum (local), vodka, whiskey, beer, cola, juices.
There is live music in the lobby every evening.
There are many foreigners and locals staying at the hotel, and there are also many Russians. A lot of locals come for the weekend. The staff does not speak Russian. There is one administrator, Anushka (a man), who speaks Russian well. Everyone else is at the hello-goodbye level.
We swam in the ocean at a nearby beach, there is an artificial reef and there are no waves. In general, the waves are large and the bottom relief is not smooth, it drags.
There are many locals on the beach who offer guided tours. Isa helped us to study the local color. He speaks good Russian. We went on a river trip with him and through him we took a two-day tour inland at the Monkey Tours travel agency.

11 years ago, we traveled all over Sri Lanka on an individual tour with a local guide. On New Year's Eve 2025, we decided to "chill out" by the ocean at The Palms Hotel. It turned out to be optimal for a beach holiday. The windows overlook the ocean with waves, and next to it is a large lagoon with calm water, corals, colorful fish and turtles. There is no feeling of a "sauna" here, as in Thailand, it is comfortable during the day, +30 with a fresh ocean breeze, the water is 29 degrees. The clean beach is one and a half kilometers long, all lit up in the evening and at night, it's great to take a walk watching the ocean waves. There are not a lot of people on the beach, especially in the morning and evening.
A quiet hotel with good all-inclusive cuisine, daily room cleaning with a change of linen. In the evenings, you can sit in the lobby bar with live music. The advantage of the hotel is the wonderful staff, caring and very welcoming people. Most of the staff is English-speaking at a sufficient level to communicate. We especially remember two very nice and pleasant girls, Ashmika and Disna, and a young man, Yeranda (he is going to study in Russia).
Reviews often say that locals on the beach are annoying and annoying. In response, I can say that there are different people in every country. What you want to see, you will see. In fact, the country is poor and the people are not rich, but they are usually very decent. If you do not need their service, you must firmly say "no", and they will no longer approach you, but they will greet you kindly and smile.
Shopping in the city is not a problem. Tuk-tukers are always at the hotel gates. We met one of them named Ajit, he speaks Russian well. Very quickly (in 50 minutes!) he took us from the hotel to the city to all the necessary outlets, helped us choose gifts home and fruits, showed us where a really good Sea Food restaurant was and brought us back.
Guided tours are a special pleasure! We met a local guide, Issa, right on the beach. He organized for us, for a reasonable fee, an excellent individual excursion to the central part of the island. Issa talks in Russian about tourist spots, while knowing all the most interesting locations perfectly well and knows how to take photos skillfully. Great photographer! Thanks to him, we got a lot of unexpected and very cool photos.

We had a rest in early February 2025.
The Palms Hotel in Sri Lanka is a true paradise for those who appreciate comfort, coziness and proximity to nature! From the very first moment, we were greeted with warmth and attention: a well-groomed territory with a palm garden, small chipmunks scurried back and forth and begged for nuts for the whole vacation, spacious rooms. Two small pools. One for small children is shallow. The second one is bigger, where they stretched a net for playing volleyball.
The hotel staff is always ready to help, and the local cuisine in the restaurant has delighted with delicious dishes with a national flavor. Monitor lizards have been seen on the territory several times.
The absolute advantage of the hotel is its location in such a way that there is always a wave on one part of the beach and you can jump, surf and have an extreme time, and if you move a little to the right, then the beach is protected by a natural reef and you can swim without waves.
But the real gem of our vacation was Nicholas, the guide who turned our trip into a magical adventure! He has selected excursions for us that will be remembered forever.
Instead of the tourist crowds, we visited secret beaches, local markets, and even a master class on cooking fried king prawns in garlic sauce!
And his help in arranging the transfer and tips on souvenirs saved us time and budget.

We were in 2023, then the food could be chosen, now only all, unfortunately. And the price has increased accordingly. There are more interesting hotels for this money.
Of the advantages: all rooms overlook the ocean, there were enough sun beds,. The food is as usual both spicy and not spicy, we were surprised by the serving of fruits, they are not laid out on plates, but the cook cleans and slices when you were there, there was one terrible brake - the queue was huge.
And a very big plus, there is a beach with waves right in front of the hotel, and a hundred meters to the right is covered by a reef, it is quiet there, ideal for kids and those who do not like waves. There are plenty of cafes nearby on the beach, we had lunch there.

The sand on the beach is gorgeous, white, and fine, but given that the beach is public, it's a little dirty, if you expect cleanliness, you won't get it here. There are waves in the water every day, if you go to the right there is a bay in which there are no waves, but the sand there is already larger. I can't say anything about the pool, it's there, but only a few children swim in it. There are also a lot of animals, barundukas, monitor lizards, 2 peacocks flew to my balcony. On the beach you will definitely meet 2 brothers Nikos and Dylan, very cool guys, they speak Russian and will help you organize any excursion and satisfy your every request. We also went with them by tuk-tuk, Dylan solved the issue of a car for a trip to Halle and everything at an adequate price. All agreements were carried out within the agreed period and were in place. Only positive emotions remained from the arrival at the hotel.

I was at Palm in December 2023. We were met and quickly placed in a room with an ocean view and a balcony, where I admired the sunsets and fed the chipmunks. The ocean is only 100 meters away. There is a surf school. The territory is clean, the pool is also being cleaned. The rooms were cleaned every day. I had no complaints, and I always left a tip. There was a lot of food, but the kitchen is more Indian-oriented. In my subsequent visits to Sri Lanka, I got high from the local spicy and less spicy food.

It didn't work out for me only with the guides, whose phone was distributed on the bus from the airport. We had a rest from April 5 to 17. I really liked the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful, from the cleaners to the general manager of the hotel. 4. The ocean. There are always waves right in front of the hotel, then more, then less. The water is not transparent due to the fact that the sand is stirring up the wave. A little to the right is always calm, clear water, you can swim, BUT there may be a current.
5. Staff. Everyone is trying, smiling, the hotel management is on the level.
6. Food. The whole range is specific. It was difficult for me (I'm not picky about food). Spicy, spicy, not clear. Several dishes have been adapted to "European" cuisine. It is quite possible to supplement something yourself, assemble a salad for yourself and choose a dressing for yourself. Porridge, omelette, pancakes are normal.
Of fruits, bananas and papaya are good.

A great quiet hotel. The staff is excellent. The kitchen is normal. The rooms, but tired, didn't bother us much. There is practically nothing nearby, cafes, shops, to ride a bike or on foot. Well, there's a plus and a minus. The beach is very nice. The pool is the best for children, not so much for adults. For the first trip with a child to Sri Lanka is a great option

The price and quality correspond to the hotel, all inclusive, not quite so, if you want to eat seafood, there is a separate paid restaurant, but all inclusive includes fish and crabs, also about the bar, you will need to pay for wine, but you can drink wine at home, and there enjoy their amazing rum when I for the second time in Sri Lanka, I will definitely choose this hotel :)

The hotel is of medium size, with an average area. There are shops (tea is 2 times cheaper than in the city), bookmaker services, restaurants, cafes, gym, billiards, surfing nearby. The territory is green, flowers are blooming, chipmunks are running. The ocean is next to a different type of entry into the water - with waves and a lagoon without waves.
The rooms are good, the plumbing is pretty tired. The room was cleaned daily and very well, there is everything you need for comfort from a kettle to a TV (with one Russian channel)
The restaurant is spacious with live music in the evenings. They even use Russian rock (though with an accent, but pleasantly and unexpectedly). The food is varied - seafood, pork, chicken, fish, lots of side dishes from super spicy to lean, desserts and pastries are delicious! I would like more and better drinks (from hot - monotonous tea, coffee; from cold - fresh - one name).
In general, everything is clean and well maintained, the staff is responsive and friendly. There is a Russian-speaking guide, which is very valuable in local conditions! There is an island nearby with an old lighthouse. The view is mind-blowing!
In general, the atmosphere is comfortable, unhurried, without crazy queues. The sand is soft, the ocean is warm, the sun is sultry, there are animals all around - chipmunks, lizards, crabs, moray eels. What else do you need to be happy?

If you want to admire Sri Lanka, this is not the place. The water is constantly muddy and you need to move far away along the shore from the hotel, there are constantly huge waves. Locals are always crowding around the fence - some pushing excursions, some selling something, some just staring. It's a so-so feeling lying on a sunbed. When leaving the territory to the beach, everyone begins to brazenly pester - who calls for "wildly interesting excursions " that are completely unjustified in price or some kind of nonsense. That's how Cherry got me. He studied in Samara and speaks Russian perfectly. He says we have a guru - he predicts fate. For $ 500, Cherry also predicted to unfasten the 20 that he took -5 minutes from the hotel. I sent them all, I haven't seen such a divorce yet. Others almost drag you by the hand to buy rags or dolls. There are chipmunks on the territory that crawl/drink over you and things/food/drinks!even beer and rum! Disgusting. The rooms were so-so, the view saved them. The food is local-I liked it. I had a DOCTOR - they congratulated me for dinner when I no longer needed to. The staff behind the bar behaves as if you are friends and may make statements in your direction or flirt. In short, I don't go there anymore and I don't know why such good comments are written everywhere about this hotel

Don't get fooled by the "deluxe" category, this is the usual standard and nothing more. The hotel itself is not bad, the pools are clean, though small, sun beds with soft bedding. A good kitchen, in everything except meat, they don't know how to cook it there at all, there may be fragments of bones, plus very dry and unleavened meat. But delicious salads, desserts are generally beyond praise. Very poor room cleaning, the feeling that towels are not changed at all, even if they are already almost black and lying on the floor. Also beware of the laundry, in my case, all my things and 3 other people's T-shirts were returned to me, who knows, maybe you will get the reverse option when your things end up with someone else. The hotel has a great beach, there were waves in early April, but very strong, and there is a reef to the right, there is generally a great place for swimming. It's nice that a lot of animals are running and flying around the hotel, chipmunks can run right over you, I personally experienced it. In the evenings, live music in the lobby, different speakers and different music, very pleasant. In general, the hotel itself is good, but the room service spoils the impression very much, so much so that 3 is a stretch to be a real assessment of this place. Otherwise, the extremely convenient location of the hotel, on the edge of the city, there are a minimum of tourists, the beach is wide.

I booked The Palms Hotel from 29.11 to 06.12.2023.
I stayed in the hotel for only 1 day, since staying in this hotel is unacceptable, there is unsanitary conditions and dirt everywhere, as I have not seen in 2* hotels or even on the market in India.
Upon checking into the hotel, the manager informed me that I have a very nice room with an ocean view. There really was a view, all rooms in the hotel overlook the ocean, but that's where all the positive moments end.
They settled on the ground floor, in the corridor of which there are old dirty air conditioning units that are very noisy, it is impossible to sleep.
The furniture in the room is very old, the air conditioner was noisy so that it was impossible to stay in the room, there were blocks of air conditioners behind the door that worked even louder and since there was a huge gap between the door and the floor, there was a constant hum in the room. The sockets in the room were broken off and taped crosswise. The trash can in the bathroom was completely rusty, it was even squeamish to be next to it, the hair dryer was ancient and it was unclear whether it worked at all. When I asked to change the room, the manager promised to give me another room only later in the evening.
The bathroom is disgusting because of the dirt everywhere. There are huge cockroaches and geckos in the room.
It is impossible to eat at the hotel, as everything is greasy and there is dirt on the tables in the restaurant. The oil on which it is fried does not change ... black in color and a corresponding rancid smell. Fruits are available only for breakfast. Sparse.
The waiters are working well.
During the day, in 35 degree heat, workers painted the walls next to the rooms with strong-smelling paint.
Externally, everything is very good: an authentic building with a rather green and nicely decorated territory, with a nice lobby. And it is impossible not to note the friendliness of the staff.
