Terrace Restaurant – Khiva's gastronomic oasis
In the old town of Khiva, among the ancient walls of Ichan-Kala, the Terrace restaurant has long earned a reputation as a place where traditional Uzbek cuisine is revealed at its best. They don't just feed here – they keep a balance between authenticity and modern presentation.
The kitchen is the main asset of the establishment. Mantas with pumpkin, steamed, retain the juiciness of the filling, and the dough remains tender, but does not boil. Khiva pilaf differs from Samarkand or Tashkent pilaf – here it is slightly more spicy, with dominant notes of cumin and barberry. The shish kebab of young lamb on coals is exemplary: the meat is light–crusted, pink inside, without excessive fat content.
Despite the constant occupancy of the hall, the staff manages to find seats even for those who came without a reserve. The best tables are on the second floor, which overlooks the domes of the madrasah and the evening illumination of historical buildings.
Across the street is the new building of the restaurant, built in a modern interpretation of the Khiva style: arched openings, carved wooden panels, but without excessive props. The interior is concise but atmospheric.
The Terrace is one of the few restaurants in Khiva where the cuisine does not compromise with the massive tourist demand. Here, the food is prepared as it should be – without simplifications.

In the very center of the old town, near the square. One of the best landmarks. Great for taking photos from a high terrace overlooking the old town. The portions are large, the taste is 4, that is, good, the prices are not too high (compared to Moscow and low), one of the few establishments where they do not add a percentage for service to the bill (usually 10-20% everywhere). There's a nice free toilet on the corner of the building downstairs, you can just walk in from the street. This is a plus for the center. You should definitely come in at least once.

We have been to this restaurant twice already, and we were very satisfied! The location is the best! All the sights are visible from the open spaces. Everything looks very nice when it starts to get dark and the lights turn on (around 20 o'clock approximately). Five-plus service! They understand how everything should be so that the guests are satisfied. Unlike other places, there is good wine here. Advice on the choice was given by the waiter Zara. She recommended Carmen wine (115 soums per glass). On the second day, we also took it. My husband chose beer: he was also very pleased. The food is cooked perfectly, special thanks to the cook! A professional approach is felt. We tried lagman, chebureks and green noodles. Everything was delicious! I definitely recommend this restaurant!

It's a great place. In the very center of the old town, many sights are perfectly visible from the roof of the restaurant. It's especially beautiful in the evening. There are lights everywhere. The price tag is a little too high compared to the restaurant and off-site. But it's very tasty. Especially pilaf!

Everything is not bad - the food is delicious.
The prices are however twice as expensive as in other places that we visited in Uzbekistan in 8 days.
But there was such a story with us in this place.
We booked a table in advance on the terrace overlooking the square, beautiful view. We're having dinner, everything's fine.
After about 40 minutes, the waiter comes up and says: the owner has come with friends - would we like to move to another table? I have never encountered such a thing in any country in the world - even if you stand, even if you fall, as they say. The situation is not real for Moscow at all!
This is the attitude towards the guests of the country and the customers of your restaurant.

When traveling to Khiva, I stayed in a guest house on the territory of the Ichan Kala museum city, 100 meters away there are 2 restaurants on the territory, a Terrace and an Old Terrace that belong to the same owner. From the first to the last day I visited this restaurant, All the dishes are great, I even joked that I would take the chef with me to Novosibirsk, the dishes are high-quality, delicious, the service is excellent, there are many foreigners. A wonderful place! Very curious surroundings in the local style, polite staff. It was winter, so the terraces were closed, and in summer there is a wonderful view of the madrasah and the city square.
The prices for an institution of this level are quite democratic, the cuisine is local, the menu is with pictures. We were very satisfied.

The main advantage of this restaurant is, of course, the terrace with a magnificent view of Ichan—Kala.
But the advantages do not end there. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The waiters are polite and courteous, even if they are very busy due to the large flow of guests. And a separate plus: unlike the vast majority of restaurants in Uzbekistan, tips are at the discretion of the guests, and are not included in the bill.
A very beautiful interior in the national style. Everything is very nicely decorated.
Some dishes, for example, green pasta, have an unusual presentation.
The only drawback is that under certain conditions, smoke from the grill area blows onto the terrace.
Places should be booked in advance, there are a lot of people who want to during the season.

I highly recommend it. A wonderful national restaurant in the heart of old Khiva!
Everything is cool - delicious local cuisine, beautiful dishes, and a magnificent view of the sights of the old city, especially in the rays of the setting sun, the stylish interior of the Uzbek teahouse, and, most importantly, the hospitable and helpful staff who welcomed our family as long-awaited guests, trying to warn all our wishes!

A place with a beautiful view, an amazing barbecue that melts in your mouth. However, inattentive maintenance spoils everything. When we had lunch there, food was brought to other customers faster than to us, even though we arrived earlier. It was annoying. They forgot to bring us the tortillas and the dessert menu. The prices are high, although the service is not included in the bill here. Prices are higher here than in other places with 17% service.

I ordered chuchvara (soup with tender dumplings) and dumplings with an omelet inside (these are made only in Khiva). Everything is very tasty. A pleasant place. The view from the second floor terrace is amazing and the breeze is so refreshing. There is a lot of Uzbek food. The kebabs are delicious here. They also took dolma. Like it. Friends drank wine, they said they were normal. The staff is very polite and friendly. It is located right in a historical place. You can eat there right after the excursions.

Outwardly, the restaurant is presentable, the food does not match the price tag. Mantas seem to be served from previously cooked frozen ones (torn and not juicy).The soup (lagman with dumplings) was not as rich as on the water. We were at the restaurant on 02/16/2025. Maybe it wasn't the season, there weren't many visitors (there were 4 of us and a group of Poles). The first lunch in Uzbekistan disappointed us. Outside the fortress, we found two more food outlets (at the exit from the fortress to the right and across the road), but we did not use them.
