This is an iconic place, and it is impossible to visit Helsinki without visiting it. The atmosphere is absolutely magical, and if the organist is also working, it feels unearthly. The acoustics are amazing. The peculiar altar of candles on the right side is also impressive. By the way, you can freely wander around the roof of the church - since it is a rock, there is an improvised park there - once I met a couple of wild hares there (and this is in the city center!). This must be seen and felt.

It was a very, very long time ago. Impressions remained for a lifetime: the sound of the organ passes through you and envelops everything around. An unusual building built into the rock.

It is not often possible to find an underground temple in the middle of an ordinary residential area! There is such an unusual place in Helsinki. The temple is located underground with a ceiling made of copper wire, cut into a rock about 12 meters high. It is a Lutheran parish church and a popular concert venue due to its excellent acoustics. The temple was cut down inside a massive block of natural granite on Temple Square (Tempelplats). The construction of Temppeliaukio began in 1968 and was completed a year later in 1969 by Finnish architects brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen. Various concerts are often held in Temppeliaukio due to the excellent acoustics of the church, which are provided by the rough, rough granite walls. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Helsinki. Although the temple is located in a rock, there is a lot of natural light inside, penetrating through the glass dome. The combination of natural and artificial materials is striking in its uniqueness and explains the popularity of the church in the rock. Unlike traditional churches, there are no bells in Temppeliaukio, and the imitation of bell ringing, carried out by Taneli Kuusisto, is created by loudspeakers located on the outer wall of the building. Due to its squat shape and impenetrable stone structure, the church is sometimes called an anti-devil protection bunker.
