We flew three years ago from Novosibirsk on a direct flight. Issyk-Kul Airport is located in Kyrgyzstan and serves the city of Tamchi. Issyk-Kul is located 3 km from the city center. Both regular flights of 3 airlines and charters arrive at this airport. Small and colorful

When the plane landed, we saw the beauty of the mountains on one side and Lake Issyk Kul on the other.. a picturesque picture.. The airport is located from Cholpon - Ata resort in 40 minutes by car. The airport is small, everything is clean, the only thing that took a long time to pass Passport control (so it's better to arrive a little earlier). Everyone speaks Russian.

I used this airport for the first time, I was very pleased with the location. I visited Karakol, much closer than Bishkek. The waiting room is small but comfortable, the air conditioning is working, the staff is polite, there are no comments.

A small airport, we stood at customs control for a long time, one window was working. There was no place for a duty free store. In general, everything is fine for the small village of Tamchy from which you get to the local beauties: lake Issyk-Kul and the most beautiful mountains and gorges.

There are few places to wait. It took a very long time to pass the inspection. The staff is normal, explained everything. If you do not order a transfer, then it is very expensive to take a taxi. Drivers swoop in right away and don't lag behind, if you don't want to, you'll agree. There is an exchange point nearby.

Since there are few detailed reviews, I will write in more detail. The airport is located almost on the shore of the lake, in the steppe. It's quite difficult to call it an airport, because it's just a small building with a runway. You can only go here if you plan to spend all your time on Lake Issyk-Kul or the cost of air tickets is 5 times cheaper compared to Bishkek. In other cases, there is no point in flying here. There is no infrastructure. You can only leave by taxi, for example, a full taxi to Bishkek costs from 3,000 to 4,000 som (depending on the condition of the car). If you take a minibus taxi, where 7-8 people are taken, then the fare will cost 600 som. Currency exchange is a small stall that is located on the street. You can pay for a taxi in rubles or local som (cards are not accepted anywhere, there are no ATMs).
Taxis leave due to occupancy, or you can pay, for example, for several places to go alone in your row.
Sim cards from a local operator are also sold on the street for about 200 rubles (in fact, these SIM cards should be free). It takes about 3 hours to get to Bishkek. They are brought to the eastern bus station.
If you are going to fly out of this airport, then you need to arrive almost at the landing, otherwise you will be waiting outside.

It is a tiny airport, but nevertheless there are direct flights to Moscow and major cities of the Russian Federation. The halls are small, so mourners are not allowed inside, checking passengers according to flight lists. The staff is polite, and so is passport control. Everything is good and fast.

Mountains, strip, one building 20x30 meters. The building has arrival/departure, check-in, customs, toilet, vending, cafe. Clean, compact, everything is simple.

The airport is very small, the benefit is that they take off on one flight, queues at customs (about an hour is needed to pass passport control). We traveled with a small child, so the mother and child room was relevant, I am glad that it exists, but it is very small, two small beds (while a woman without a child slept on one) and one illegal table. There are not many seats in the waiting room, and we flew out in early September, it was terribly stuffy at the airport.

A small airport on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. There are no special amenities, no duty free, not even a luggage belt. Suitcases are handed out from hand to hand. Unloading of luggage, by the way, is quite fast. The passport check takes longer than in Manas, although it is not critical.
But all these are trifles compared to the absence of the need to fly through Bishkek and then take a taxi or bus to the Issyk-Kul region for several hours. And if you remember about the frequent fogs in Manas in the winter mornings, you forget about all the problems in general.
It is very good that there are now regular flights from Moscow.
