I went to 2023 with a friend.
From a pleasant point of view, we liked the rooms we saw. White room, Russian room, Chinese room.
From what I didn't like and as a result, the impression was completely blurred: we stumbled over a conflict with Andrey Kamushkin, the director, head and administrator of the hostel, and about the attitude towards the guests.
It started with the fact that he had a fight with my friend when she reminded him of the agreement to keep clean. We cleaned the ground floor, including the toilet, so that you could walk around the floor without shoes. I have agreed with Andrey that both we and he will maintain this cleanliness. He liked the idea. One of the following days, he began to walk across the entire floor in dirty shoes from the construction site. When my friend reminded him about the arrangement, he said that she was wrong - he found the reminder too emotional. Then we shared with him the delicious food that we had prepared - he took the slow cooker from the kitchen, and then we could not reconcile with him, or somehow smooth the situation over.
Then there was a confusion with the curfew rules. In the middle of the first week, I noticed that Andrey returned several times later than 23.00. One evening, he was arguing with someone on the phone in a way that could be heard both in the house and on the street. At the same time, according to the description, the curfew rule was established so as not to disturb the neighbors. Then the guests who had been living in the hostel for a long time told me that the rule did not actually work. I thought: "well, it's logical - the owner violates, the tenants do not use the rule, dogs bark in the evening under any conditions, okay." Then one day I went to the sea with other guests, and we returned late. In the morning, Andrey suggested that I either pay the fine or move out. I replied that I did not see what to pay the fine for - the rule did not work. He suggested either fining everyone, including himself, or making mutual concessions. He said that in fact, the rule does not apply to other residents and himself. Then he added that it does not apply to him because he is the owner and does important things. After that, he offered to pay a fine to my friend, although she returned before 22.00 the day before. He tried for a long time to prove that he had heard that she came after 23.00.
Then he said that we were wrong at the very beginning - we used the help of a neighbor to get to the hostel, because you can not ask the way to the hostel from the locals. Although it is written in the VK group about the hostel that it is difficult to find it even with a card in hand.
We were surprised and turned to Maria, either the co-owner of the hostel, or Andrei's companion, through whom we booked places, agreed on accommodation. We asked her to move us to a spare room in another house so that we would not meet with Andrey for the rest of the trip. Maria wrote that the room was free, she would need to move her things there and there would be a recalculation with a refund of some of the money, because we would have moved from two different rooms to one. As a result, Andrey wrote to us, said that there would be no recalculation, no refund, no relocation.
We didn't take long to figure it out and left the next day. We found another place.
The money for the time not spent in the hostel then had to be returned through the local consumer supervision: when I went to Andrey with a request to return this money, he refused.
It turned out that the description in the group is beautiful, it seems that the rules are explained, but upon arrival the guest may encounter something that is not described in the group (for example, inconsistencies in compliance with the rules, or that the owner can arrange a construction site and either walk in dirty shoes on the floor washed by the guests, or make the toilet and the kitchen (according to the locals, he somehow started a major renovation of the bathroom on the ground floor, despite the fact that guests lived in the house), or that the owner may be offended and even though the guests take the first step, do not go to the meeting until they come to apologize with a bottle of wine (with his words)).
Summary: we liked some rooms, we reconciled with dirt in some places, while the attitude towards the guests did not suit us.
I've been in can for a long time, which has changed of course...But I didn 't get it !I'm not a particularly picky tourist, I like all sorts of interesting places with an ethno component...I bought into it, but in vain...everything is very old and a terrible smell, so I look at the photo and I remember this smell right away...in short, not for girls (((as an interesting place for 1-2 nights will do, but hardly for a whole vacation...the money was not returned to me, I moved out...there are also lovers of this place...probably these are some kind of hikers who really don't know where to sleep)))everyone has their own way, as they say, but I have no desire to return...although the design is really cool!
Были в Старой хижине в июле 2023. Дошло до разбирательств с местными властями по поводу хамского, противозаконного поведения владельца хостела. Вкратце и по факту:
1. Сразу после заселения владелец обязывает внести 100% оплату проживания. Если вы платите наличными, а потом хотите уехать досрочно и вернуть деньги, вам скажут, что никаких денег от вас не получали, и идите куда хотите доказывать обратное.
2. Если вчитаться в правила проживания, то можно заметить, что они ставят гостей в полностью бесправное положение, в отличие от хозяина. Спойлер: он пользуется этим в хвост и в гриву. Вернулись в хостел слишком поздно? Платите штраф (ни много ни мало 2000 российских рублей - за что??). Не хотите платить? Добро пожаловать жить на улицу. Если он захочет, он найдет способ выжить вас со своей территории, даже среди ночи и с детьми (реальный случай).
3. По итогам бесед с другими людьми, которые тоже были в "старой хижине" и знают хозяина, могу сказать: взять деньги за проживание, а потом выселить вас в никуда посреди чужой страны и освободить комнату для следующих - уже стандартная схема владельца этого места. Не стоит тратить своё драгоценное время отдыха и деньги на этот гадюшник, благо в Абхазии много других, порядочных людей, сдающих комнаты в аренду.
