The Cathedral of St. Vitus, Wenceslaus and Wojtek (as its full name sounds) is one of the most famous and most beautiful classical Gothic monuments in Europe, an active Catholic cathedral with an organ hall and an observation deck on one of the towers. It is located in Prague Castle and is the residence of the Archbishop of Prague.
The cathedral was built over several centuries, starting in the middle of the 14th century. Today, this architectural masterpiece is the pride and symbol of the Czech capital. To visit Prague and not visit St. Vitus Cathedral is just as unnatural as to visit Moscow and not visit Red Square.
Great dating experience! Great acoustics, fancy interior decoration. But the views from the 100-meter observation deck after climbing the narrow spiral staircase are especially catchy. Prague is in full view.
An unforgettable experience!
St. Vitus Cathedral is impressive! A masterpiece of Gothic architecture and a symbol of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Located on the territory of Prague Castle, it serves as the residence for the Archbishop of Prague.
It is visible from almost any point of the city. You can go up to the observation deck.
St. Vitus Cathedral is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. This architectural monument traces its history back to 1344. Located on the territory of Prague Castle, today it serves as the residence for the Archbishop of Prague. It is difficult to describe in words the grandeur and beauty of this building.
In the main part of the cathedral, above the altar, you can see a gallery of sculptures of the founders of the church and its first builders — for example, a bust of Charles IV, masters Peter Parlerge and Mathieu from Arras, who were buried in the walls of the building, Prague archbishops and other important persons of the state and architects. Stone carvings adorn the majestic facades of the cathedral, and above the portal of its southern facade you can see the earliest surviving Czech mosaics called the Last Judgment.
