Great hotel, clean rooms (comfortable pillows), cleaned every day, no intrusive animation and just super cool cocktails.

The hotel is very good for Cuba, but there are not enough duvet covers. A week's worth of food may already get boring, but in Varadero itself, which is 10 minutes away by bus for $ 5 (unlimited for the whole day), you can go to a cafe with a huge lobster at the entrance for a change, it's wonderful and costs very cheap $ 25. There is also food, despite the lack of variety, it is available 24 hours a day (especially appreciated by those who get up at 4 a.m. at first due to jet lag - you can have coffee, a cocktail and a snack bar to visit. Also, every day for lunch and dinner- fish, mussels, squid or octopus cooked on fire and in salads and snacks. The ice cream is very tasty - -4-5 the views are freely available - after dinner, the children, having played enough football, ran back to the buffet (restaurant)and they ate it. Yes, there were queues on the eve of the holidays, but already on the third of January there are no queues. And before that, anyone who cared could order service at the sky restaurant -there according to the menu or choose from one of three restaurants (Italian, Cuban and Japanese). The question about baking is that it's not hot, but pancakes or pancakes every morning and various additives to them. Meat is also served for lunch and dinner , both fried and stewed . All kinds of pasta . There are few vegetables, but the country's peculiarities (climate and sanctions - do not bring). There were apples for Christmas dinner and breakfast and for New Year 's Eve. As it is, all the eco-exotic fruits are plentiful. When communicating with other tourists, we found out that the food in our hotel is very good.
There are towels for the beach and you can change them whenever you want (in some hotels tourists bought them themselves)
Personally, our room was always well cleaned (even when there was no tip - we were lucky with the maids) and the view was of the ocean. Everyone is friendly and trying to help. The main disadvantage is why they lowered the star- the beach!!! There is a hotel nearby - their beach is constantly cleaned and cleaned - this one is especially not after a storm and waves. Yes, it was originally built with stones, but it could also have been cleaned by a plus, algae and sand, or fungi from the sun. Those beaches could have been better if they had been used. It is convenient to get to the Varadero center by Hop On Off bus-the stop next to the hotel is 5 dollars and you can drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (some go to the beach on 64 or 52 streets, return for lunch and again to the beach in Varadero). 1. The food for Cuba is good, there is nothing to compare, you can always find mussels, squid rings, fish, chicken, grilled pork. There are a lot of fruits, good cheeses, avocados and everything else typical of Cuba: pumpkin, bananas, pineapples, rice, etc.
2. Animation, of course, is not Turkey, but it's good for Cuba, a mini disco every day + the club is open in the afternoon, you can leave a child. The animators do not speak Russian at all, they do everything in Spanish.
3. The rooms are very nice, everything is new and clean, the cleaning is also good in the room. The only thing is that in 2 weeks the sheets and towels were changed several times. Beach towels can be changed at least every hour in the pool house.
4. Varadero is 5 minutes away by tourist bus, you can walk 20 minutes, taxi 15 euros and dollars (retro)
5. The beach. Sand is like sand, but not the shallowest. For Russians, you can eat normally, of course there is no such abundance as in Turkey, but there is meat)) there is a Russian-speaking and radiant employee of Nelly, who always solves any questions and prompts. Of the cons: bed linen is not changed. The pillows themselves are "smelly", there are no duvet covers (you can ask for an extra sheet), only one large towel per person (there are no additional towels). Separate beach towels in the lodge on site.

I want to say right away that my review is solely my opinion, but it may be useful to someone, because I was looking for reviews and only thanks to them, I realized what's what here and what to be ready for. In Cuba, you need to take medicines for all occasions, take sun protection and after sun, toothpicks, dental floss (if you like me can't do without them), shampoos, balms, creams, everything, you won't buy anything here.
You will be in some shock at first from the food, from the service, from the room. If you are used to relaxing in good network fives in Turkey, for example, so don't expect anything like this here.
The hotel is located next to the airport, we took a personal transfer for extra money, but it takes 20 minutes to drive, you can not spend money or take a taxi cheaper.
The room is large enough, but there are no towels for hands and feet, and bath towels are always a little damp and smell damp, or maybe there are no duvet covers- you need to ask. They brought it to us on the 3rd day. You decide for yourself when you need to change towels and linen and forgive the rooms service about it. Floors are being washed, crumbs from bedside tables, countertops, chairs, you can sweep them away yourself) the mirror was stained with children's fingers the whole vacation…
I don't eat bread and bakery, but I ate here, because meat and fish fried on dirty marmids are even worse ... and queues are a separate topic ... you can stand for 20 minutes and here you can not describe in two words why so…
You'll be full, but the first week we were in some shock and couldn't eat anything, then, like, nothing - we got used to it.
They go to Cuba for endless beaches, sunsets and sunrises. The beach at the hotel is not very good, if you want a beautiful beach from the picture - go to the city, all beaches are municipal, but you need to pay for an umbrella and a sunbed.
There is no children's animation in the evening, a mini disco, and a master class in the morning, but the child can be left in the children's room, what he will do there is not clear ..., we did not go to the adult, because we did not adjust in time.
We took excursions, the guide will tell you everything and recommend it - here we were satisfied with both the boat trip and the trip to Havana.
I'm writing about the hotel here, they say that there is no better hotel on the coast, others say that everything in their hotel is perfect. But probably everyone has a different understanding of comfort and relaxation. We're not coming to any of this anymore. In principle, I will not recommend a hotel to Cuba.

We had a rest at Selectum from 22.05 - 05.06.23.
We liked the hotel as a whole. Clean, the staff is attentive. There were no Russian speakers at the reception. Only with a translator phone. All animation is in Spanish. The food is different, you can choose, but sometimes it is difficult to figure it out, since there were no labels or menus.
Before leaving, signs appeared in Russian, English and Spanish during the day. The most delicious fruits are mangoes. Also pineapples, papaya, passion fruit.
The room has a huge bed, clean linen, changed 1 time at my request. There is a work safe, an iron (without steam), an ironing board, floor scales (convenient when packing a suitcase), a capsule coffee maker and even an umbrella.
Unexpectedly, there is only 1 piece of soap, 1 small shampoo and gel in the room for two. And also capsules of 1 tea and 1 coffee per day. But the benefit of the bar is around the clock. The coffee is delicious.
We took a mosquito fumigator, but did not use it. Anti-toxic nets on the windows.

We had a rest in November 2023. Overall, a great Turkish hotel in Cuba, almost new, the location is good. Not far from the airport, and from Havana.

Cuba is a very beautiful place and we really liked it, but we got to this hotel and it started, the restaurant is very small, huge queues the restaurant opens at 7.00 at 7.05 they don't start the queue yet in the photo :) there is nothing to eat, everything ends very quickly, you need to stand in line for about 30-40 minutes. They asked for a coke, said there is no fanta, cola, sprite, there is water and then it smells like it's from the tap. Lunch is the same thing you need to stand in line for meat that you can't chew, this is the first vacation where you made sandwiches yourself to eat something, dinner is the same for 30-40 minutes to take something for pizza in general it comes to a fight:(this one only had a dining room :) there is no ketchup, we ordered a burger at the bar, brought a bun and inside the sausage is cut into 2 parts. our room was cleaned only because it was left for tea :) I'll give the maid 4

A blanket without a duvet cover is in all rooms and it looks like they do not change with the change of people living in the room (I noticed this when I watched how the guests were cleaned after they moved out. Keep in mind that an infinite number of people have covered themselves with this blanket before you) 🤦🏻♀️The refrigerator is empty, 1.5 liters of water are brought per day (so as not to dry out). Towels are changed once every 2 days. The air conditioner lives its own life, it works, it rests. The kitchen is very lame. Monotonous. It's been the same for ten days. They can't cook. Overcooked, overcooked. If you ask for water, they will bring it from the tap in the common dining room. The coffee is also very bad, but there is a good one in the bar next to it, you can bring it from the bar to the dining room. A small flock of sparrows is flying around the hall))) of course they shit where they want to. They don't bother anyone, it seems they haven't heard about sanitary standards there. There is a separate story with restaurants where you can sign up 1 time in each of the three. Make no mistake)) There will be everything the same as in the common dining room, only the serving is "solemn" and there is also no choice. There is , but not always . You have to constantly reboot, but you can talk over the video connection.
We spat for 4 days, then got used to it)) One of the advantages. The gym is clean, the staff is pleasant. Also, if you give generous tips and gifts to the service staff, then your life in this hotel will improve significantly. And the bed will be changed every day, and towels, and more water will be given, and a flower will be stuck in the "blanket")) Despite their "quirks", Cubans are very friendly and overwhelm with compliments. Also, you can see a hummingbird outside the dining room window (uplifting bonus🥰) If you suddenly decide to take a tour offered by your tour operators at the hotel, it is better to take it from them. It turns out cheaper than the locals.

There is enough food in the hotel, but the quality of cooking leaves much to be desired (meat and fish are fried in front of you, but the meat is not beaten off, very tough, without spices and marinade, only salt and pepper), similarly fish. Everyone writes that you will not stay hungry, but you will not get any pleasure from eating. Seafood was only for the Catholic Christmas dinner. Of the vegetables, green tomatoes, if you're lucky, you can find red, forage cucumbers with large seeds, grated carrots, boiled beets and chopped lettuce leaves. To garnish with sweet potatoes, rice (delicious)and pasta. It is impossible to drink coffee (or its like) for breakfast, but it is delicious from the coffee machine in the lobby bar. Moreover, it is a well-known fact that there is simply a problem with nutrition in Cuba. If they write that the food in this hotel is good, then I imagine what it is like in other hotels. The lobby bar has a large assortment of spirits (vodka, rum, whiskey), but a meager selection of wine, and there is absolutely no champagne. Cocktails are made on the basis of rum, but I can't say that they were super tasty. The only restaurants that went to a la carte were Cuban (don't waste time) and Italian - pasta and pizza are no better than in the main restaurant. We didn't go to Vostochny. The hotel is new, there are no complaints about the rooms and the territory-everything is fine! But the service is just as bad as the food (they do not give, including on request, bathrobes and slippers, despite the fact that they are stated in the description of the room) . The reception said that they had run out and they would not be there. For a family of 3 people (2 adults + 1 teenage son) we had one blanket and 2 pillows. I had to harass the reception and room service every day with requests to bring extra ones to the room. There is one answer to all of them - manana (tomorrow). In general, no one is in a hurry to fulfill your requests. In general, without tips, the waiters serve you very reluctantly, they constantly had to be stimulated with a dollar. I can't write anything bad about cleaning, but my husband also always left $ for the maid. It is written everywhere about the rocky beach that this is a fat minus of the hotel, but we did not swim in the ocean because of the cold weather + 19..22 and it rains every other day, and sunbathing in strong winds is not very comfortable. During 10 days of rest, we swam in the sea 2 times (1 time in the Caribbean, 1 time on the public beach of Varadero - everything is super). The animation in the hotel is very weak, evening programs for three, but they sing well live in the evenings in the lobby bar.In general, Cuba was not impressed - unreasonably expensive, a very tedious 14-hour flight (although we flew on a regular flight), very expensive excursions, but there is not much to see. In Havana, we walked through the tourist center, where the colonial architecture borders on slums and ruin. There are poor people all around. Everyone writes that people are very friendly and smiling in Cuba, but I'm not sure. We have come across very humane and positive people in many countries, but I cannot single out Cubans for these qualities. For less money last year, during the same period, we flew to the Maldives to a local island and left more vivid impressions.

A new hotel! The rooms on the side of the road smell of exhaust fumes in the morning! The food for Cuba at the hotel is varied (including meat and pasta), well, you get it, it's chic!!! The alcohol is of high quality, the staff at the bar is fast! I was pleased with the price and quality of the hotel! For independent travelers for the first time in Cuba, I recommend booking in advance!!! Everything is exorbitantly expensive on site, but "+" that so far (02.2024) the WORLD maps are working!!! The beach is normal, but the city is better!!!!

Great hotel, we had a rest in December 2023. The food is normal, according to the stories of other vacationers in other hotels it is much worse. It's nice that the hotel is new, there are no animals in the rooms.
Yes, there is a problem with the beach, but in my opinion it is not critical, since you can move away from your beach by 100m, and go already on the sandy bottom.

At first, our relationship with this hotel did not work out... Initially, we were settled in a sooo dirty room, honestly, we were shocked! Dirty floors, bedside tables are all covered in dust, coffee drops, someone's hair on the bed, the refrigerator did not open, the toilet tank was not filled after one flush for some reason... In short, the mood was noticeably spoiled for us, and I took off one star for this (looking ahead to the beach too). But then they still changed our room to a nice and clean one, where everything worked. Thanks for that.
The beach is very close to the hotel - this is definitely a plus. But the beach at the hotel is bad: rocky (compared to Varadero itself). We went to the city twice for a nice beach.
Pools are also normal.
The food is not particularly varied, but we did not stay hungry. Normal coffee is only served at the bar.
The hotel also has good animation, which is also a plus.
Everything was fine with alcohol, too.
