The largest ancient ensemble in Margilan
It was built in the 18th century at the grave of a much older saint, whom I identify here not even with the Righteous Ali, but with the even older Abu Bakr Pir Siddiq, the father-in-law of the Prophet and the first of the Righteous Caliphs, and the roots of such mazars often go back to the Zoroastrian past. According to local legend, a long time ago Abu Bakr preached Islam in the mountains of Central Asia, and one day he had to run away from the infidels. An unarmed Muslim hid in a crevice, and Allah sent a flock of pigeons to help him, who quickly built nests at the entrance, so that the enemies passed by without thinking that a man was lying breathlessly right under the nests.
