A very large and interesting pagoda! One of the most important in the whole region! You can walk all day. Even in the most drought, they water, take care of, and watch. It is very interesting and beautiful. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing place! Be sure to stop by when visiting Yangon. It is better to visit either on a sunny day or in the evening when the lights are on.

It's amazing why Shwedagon is not written about in all textbooks on history and geography. This is absolutely a must-visit place for any educated and interested person. In addition, it takes only an hour to fly from Bangkok with a penny, a visa is not needed, there are few tourists.
I advise you to come in the morning, foreigners have a separate entrance (south), buy lunji there (10000 chat) or take it with you (they won't let you in shorts). Inside is space and fantasy.

Be sure to visit Shwedagon day and night - it is different at different times of the day. The first time I was there in the evening and walked. Suddenly, at dusk, a shining pagoda appeared in the distance. Then closer and closer. There are always a lot of people inside, the religiosity of the Burmese is respected, and there are more of them than tourists. Unfortunately, I didn't really feel the aura of the place. Due to the electric illumination, which is almost ubiquitous in Burmese temples, there is no sense of "touching time."
