I visited the beautiful hero City of Odessa on my way from Moldova in Soviet times, in my youth, by train with a transfer to the Moscow train. On May 8, 1965, Odessa received the title of "Hero City" for the courage and bravery shown during the Great Patriotic War in the defense of the city of Odessa. Odessa became a Hero City thanks to the Primorsky Army, which destroyed the Romanian conquerors and the Nazis in the summer of 1941 three times more than it suffered losses. The defense of Odessa lasted from August 5 to October 16, 1941 -73 days. The city was occupied on October 16, 1941, and liberated on April 10, 1944 -the occupation lasted 907 days.
