There are fewer tourists than in Gagra, Pitsunda, Sukhum. And the advantage to the location is the relatively close location of all cultural, historical and natural monuments.
In Athos itself, it is worth seeing: the waterfall, the old station, the gorge and the grotto of Simon Kananit, the monastery, the Athos Park, the old fortress on the Iverskaya mountain, the city market, the railway station.
It's not a big village with good-natured Abkhazians. I really liked the cafe "Anaida" in the village. The sea is clear, there are few people. There is a small shop with everything you need. The only thing missing is a pharmacy.
We were a family on vacation in August 2021. It is difficult to find a better place for a relaxing family wellness vacation.
