A place of memory and sorrow, a beautiful fortress territory, well-groomed alleys, many willows. I want to walk around and be silent, and also try to understand what an inhuman price this great victory was worth.
If you go to the Brest fortress on your own, then the landmark of the central entrance with a star will be the cafe "Forget-me-not ", feel free to put a mark on the map or tell the taxi drivers Yandex go. Then arrive correctly.

The monument "Courage" is difficult to describe in words, it is a place of memory and sorrow, where you just want to be silent and realize the price of a great victory. This year we visited the Motherland monument in Volgograd for the first time, and once here, we felt a similar atmosphere. This place is proud of the exploits of Soviet soldiers and deeply saddened by the realization of the scale of suffering and losses that the war brought.

During her years of life, she visited the Brest Fortress 5 times; once with her older children.
The first two visits were still allowed to descend into the catacombs, later they were closed from visitors for the safety of the latter.

In my opinion, in 1988, they also found Berestye with my mother at the stage of a partially completed exposition - they could only partially inspect the excavations, there were no stands with photos ...
Berestye is located behind the Kholm Gate (southern like), this year they did not visit the exhibition.
.. we walked from the railway station, but there is a minibus 5 from the bus station, it will deliver faster for 1.50 Belarusian rubles.
....we walked... from the railway station - to the viaduct, along the viaduct we go towards the Moscow side of the tracks - to Komsomolskaya Street....on business...and through Pushkinskaya Street to Gogol Street, towards the Emergency Hospital, through Lenin Square; went over to the side of this hospital, then down, down, down past the College of Music to the Prosecutor's Office of the Brest region and down to the traffic light, left along the zebra, right along the zebra - and then, a little deeper, to the paths to the Fortress, but earlier and precisely from the stop of BTI ( BTI ), Stella can be seen from behind the trees ...

The sculpture "Courage" is the main monument of the Brest Hero Fortress memorial. It was created by the team of authors under the leadership of the People's Artist of the USSR sculptor A.Kibalnikov in 1969-1971 on the territory of the Brest fortress to perpetuate the feat of its defenders. The grand opening took place on September 25, 1971.
