I would definitely recommend those who come to the vicinity of Uşak to see the amazing historical building. The bridge was actually built as a water cistern. It is necessary to build a wooden walking path from the valley where it is located to the Ancient City of Pepouza. There is a cafe right next to the bridge. I think it was closed because it was cold when I arrived. Something sad caught my attention. The wooden sign that briefly wrote the history of the bridge was broken.
Clandras Bridge was built about 2 thousand 500 years ago to carry water from the Banaz Stream to the Ancient City of Pepouza in the Ulubey Canyon, which is located right next to it. It is located on a 2700-kilometer road called the "Golden Road", which started from Sardes during the Lydian period and reached Mesopotamia, was organized during the Persian period, extended to the city of Persepolis, the capital of the Persian Empire in Iran, and took the name of the "King's Road". It is believed that this transition area on the territory of Phrygia dates back to the Lydian period. The aqueduct that has survived to the present day bears the traces of Roman architecture.
The two ends of the bridge are seated on a semi-waist of mountain rocks. Its length is 24 meters, depth is 17 meters, width is 1.75 meters. The faces of the stones were processed with pencil, and the large stones of the arches were clamped together well with tenons. The hiking trail is 7.863 m long.
The northern heights are formed by pure oak groves of larch. As you go south, the red pine species shows itself. In the south, oak oak trees and juniper species take their place in the southernmost high areas. Juniper species mix with oak species in addition to pure oak trees.
It is possible to see living species from mammals, reptile groups, especially bird species in the area. The large mammal species that can be widely seen in the area are wild rabbit, marten, hedgehog, squirrel and wild pig.
