An amazing place, amazing mountains, a monastery too. Well, there are a lot of tourists, pilgrims, mountain walkers. It is not difficult to get from Barcelona, but in order for the trip to be without surprises, I recommend exploring everything on the monastery's website - starting from buying a ticket at the right time to see the basilica with the Madonna, ending with the features of parking (if by car), the opening hours of the dining room, etc. It is better to have a reserve of time everywhere, since the distances in the monastery complex are decent. But all the efforts are worth it without a doubt.
I recommend everyone to visit. The funecooler is fast and not expensive. There is a cafe and a small market with groceries. A beautiful temple, the nature is fantastic. I recommend definitely watching it.
I was in Montserrat in 2013, and I was very impressed by the monastery itself and especially the chants of the choir.
There is a beautiful view from the height, you can also climb higher up the mountain. There was only a trail, but now a funicular has been built for convenience.
