The city of Trabzon, I want to tell you, is absolutely not small! There is a place to walk (but it's better for girls to cover their shoulders and knees, everything is more religious here than in Istanbul)!
But the Hagia Sophia Mosque (the famous Istanbul mosque of the same name) impressed me very much. It's not big, but it has a very pleasant energy, I didn't want to leave at all. Under the arches, the faces of Saints have been preserved, something similar to space and even a rocket, it's all amazing and fascinating. Previously, it was a Christian temple, which can be traced back to ancient times with its images.
A former Orthodox church of the 13th century, converted into a mosque. Inside, you can look at the most ancient Orthodox frescoes, carefully restored by craftsmen from the UK. In front of the cathedral stands the foundation of an ancient Orthodox church, surprisingly reminiscent of the foundations in the Pskov Kremlin. Perhaps the main attraction of Trabzon.
The place is historical, it is always interesting to look at what was built almost 1000 years ago. Sea view, the city is great. The fact that it was first a Christian church, and now a mosque, you just have to accept. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe everything will change.
