Great airport! Compact and cozy. The staff is very friendly, there is free Wi-Fi, as well as clean water in the cooler, which is very important given the climate in Sri Lanka. This is probably one of the best international airports I've been to (top 10 for sure).

But the waiting room is large, there are many comfortable places to sit and, importantly, there is a cooler with hot and cold water.
I had pancakes from breakfast and a bag of coffee with me. I didn't have to spend money on fast food.
Dutifrey is small, there is alcohol, sweets and a lot of perfume.

The nicest airport. But there is only one place to have a snack (tea, pastries). Deety is tiny.They bring you to the airport early, 2-3 people work, as a result, everything takes a very long time. But in general everything is fine. Clean, neat.

Sinhalese are a leisurely people, so registration takes quite a long time. In Duty, you can only buy with cash, cards do not work. The courtyard is quite beautiful. A small cozy airport.
There are very few departures and arrivals.
The staff is very responsive, trying to help and organize queues. There is only 1 scanner and 1 inspection frame at the entrance to the airport.
In the arrival area there is a currency exchange office (the only one for the entire airport), a small cafe, a kiosk with SIM cards.
In the departure area (after passing through immigration control) there is an alcoholic duty free, a small cafe, a Mlesna tea shop and a cashew nut shop, as well as a spacious terrace milking smokers.
During the inspection, you will be asked to take off your shoes even if you are wearing light sneakers. You will have to walk barefoot through the frame. Shoe covers / disposable socks are not issued

A small airport in the south of the island. We arrived there and flew away from there. Clean, fast, everything works. Upon arrival, there was a queue at passport and visa control, but mainly due to the insufficient training of our tourists.
Everything is fine on departure. There is drinking water in the waiting room (free of charge) and as many as two smoking rooms. There are, as it were, Dutch fries, but they are very small and there is nothing to buy there.

The airport is not bad, although it is small. Clean, neat, cute.
There are very few flights (there was only our flight for the whole day), so everything is fast, almost no queues.
There was a long queue at passport control after arrival, and there were no queues at departure.
When we arrived, we were treated to ice cream for free (I don't know if it was a holiday or always like this).
Duty-free back and forth consisted mainly of drunks (no sweets, no cosmetics). There were also teas and local sauces on the flight back. A very modest choice.
The only thing that spoiled the pleasant impression was that the employee resisted at the reception, she had to pay for the excess (I note that $ 41 is up to 10 kg, and it doesn't matter if it's 1, 5 or 10 kg). I think this is a flaw of the airline or our travel agents, as they said that it is possible to combine suitcases and place luggage not 20/20, but 30/10.

The airport in Mattala province is relatively small, but modern and very convenient. The girls at the airport are dressed in beautiful saris. It's nice that considering the queue, the number of working passport control and registration desks is increasing. A huge waiting room for the boarding gate with a large number of seats, a terrace for those who want to smoke, a bar and a small duty free. The currency exchange bank is open during arrival and departure. There are no problems with the exchange. Business-I knew - in fact, no one for $ 26 per person. From food - pasta, French fries, some fruit, porridge-yoghurts. Drinks are freely available, but beer is 1 can of 0.33liters per person. But if you persistently communicate with the manager, they can add another 1 jar per person)
There are two smoking areas freely available, but if you have chosen a business hall for yourself, then you can visit the smoking room only accompanied by security)

The airport is 10 years old, in very decent condition. But it was not designed for the arrival of a full Boeing. Therefore, you go down from the arrival area to the 1st floor and divide into 90% of those who have not paid remotely for an electronic visa (there is a very long queue, the official demands blue dollars and only after a scandal accepts small things) and 10% of IT specialists and experienced tourists calmly passing to another window. You give a passport and say the magic words "electronic visa" and you are free :)
The prices in duty free for imported alcohol and tobacco are the best on the island, the exchange rate is the most interesting (it was, please specify), and a SIM card for 30 gigs for 1.5 tons of rupees solves everything later. I was happy about this choice later.
