Very nice Soviet monument that is integral part of the landscape of Tbilisi. You can see it from several angles while walking around town. At first it was an allegorical wooden statue, that was later covered with aluminum to better resist the elemts. In one hand she holds a plate with grapes to welcome friends, in the other a sword to defend the city from unwelcome guests.
I love this place. The view of the city is gorgeous. The monument is incredibly impressive. The view of the botanical garden is also impressive. Nearby there are souvenirs and a not expensive cable car.
The only drawback is that if you walk up the stairs, you can suffocate from unaccustomed use. But it's still a thrill.
The Mother of Georgia (Mother Kartli) has been towering on the Sololak ridge since the 50s, which can be reached by cable car and offers a magnificent panorama of the city. The Mother of Georgia is visible from many points in Tbilisi, illuminated very beautifully at night. The 20-meter-high statue symbolizes the Georgian national character: a female figure holds a cup of wine in her left hand to greet those who came as a friend, and in her right hand a sword for those who came as an enemy. There have been several reconstructions since the construction, but it has always attracted the attention of tourists.
A cable car went up to the monument. A great opportunity to visit the Solopak ridge. Excellent panoramic view of Tbilisi. There are observation decks here. Street musicians are playing. In order to use the cable car, you need to purchase a Tbilisi metro card. It is sold directly at the ticket office of the lift. The cost of the trip is 1 GEL. The station is located in Rike Park, near the Peace Bridge.
Kartlis Deda is a famous and symbolic monument of the capital of Georgia. It was opened in 1958. It is located on Narikala Hill, not far from Narikala Fortress, which makes it visible from different parts of the city. To get to the monument, you can climb the stairs or use the cable car, which adds additional impressions to the visit.
The monument overlooks the old town and the most popular tourist part of the city. The monument itself is not very large, but its location is certainly very good. When visiting the city, it is absolutely necessary to stop by
The monumental statue "Mother Georgia" (Kartli's Mother or Grandfather's Kartlis) is one of the most impressive sights of Tbilisi, which is definitely worth a visit. This majestic figure towering over the city symbolizes the strength, hospitality and protection of the Georgian people. Installed in 1958, the statue represents a woman in national dress holding a cup of wine for friends in one hand and a sword for enemies in the other, which perfectly reflects the dual nature of the Georgian people.
It's better to look at the monument from the city , I liked it , it 's beautiful)
I will definitely visit it again . Its size is simply mesmerizing, impossible to tear yourself away.
A wonderful view of the city opens. But it's almost impossible to take a full-length photo with the monument, all the photos are only taken from the side. In general, we recommend watching
A legendary place in Tbilisi. You can take the cable car (there are long queues at the weekend due to tourists) to look at the Mother of Georgia monument, and walk through the Botanical Garden if you want
One of the business cards of Tbilisi. A monumental statue, a good view opens onto it from some alleys of the old town, and next to it is a beautiful panorama of the city.
A fascinating view of Tbilisi opens up, we walked to the monument from Narikala, and went back down to the city by funicular, when traveling to Tbilisi, you definitely need to visit this monument, at least for a "tick"
It is a very beautiful monument. In the evening, it looks majestic with the backlight. Of the minuses, the observation deck is very small. It 's tiny . There is a beautiful view of the city.
It is better to look at the mother of Georgia from the city. And Georgia's mother has a better view of the city.
You can walk from the Narikala fortress, but it is easier and more interesting to go there and back on a zip line for a penny.
Regarding the monument, it is convenient to navigate around the city.
It's very cold and windy on top, be sure to dress warmly with the children.

It is necessary to admire from below, because from above such a kind of admiration is about a statue. but from above there are stunning views of the city.
There is not enough description of the monument , maybe a historical summary . The observation deck is very small. The monument itself is majestic.

The symbol of Georgia. A woman with a sword in one hand and a cup of wine in the other seems to say - whoever comes to us with a sword will die from wine!)))
The monument is located on a hill. This is a very picturesque place with a view of Tbilisi on one side and the Botanical garden on the other. You can go up there by cable car (in glass cabins this is another chance to admire the city and Kura), and go down on foot if desired.
