It is believed that it was in this Upper Room on Mount Zion that the apostles gave Jesus Christ a festive meal — the Easter Supper, which is known as the Last Supper. The Chamber of the Last Supper is located on Mount Zion on the second floor of a Gothic building built over the tomb of King David. Jesus Christ arrived in Jerusalem on the eve of Easter, the main Jewish holiday. By this time, the high priests had made the final decision to deal with him, so he hid with friends and adherents of his teachings. Here Jesus Christ said about the coming betrayal of Judas: "... and when they were eating, he said: verily I say to you that one of you will betray Me..." Here Jesus celebrated with the apostles the first Eucharist (the sacrament of communion) — the transformation of bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ. In the same Upper Room of the Last Supper, seven weeks later, on Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit took place on the apostles and the Mother of God, and from that moment the apostles spoke in different languages and went to preach the New Testament. The building of the Chamber of the Last Supper was built over the tomb of King David in the XII century by the crusaders as a church called "Our Lady". The building has well preserved the architectural style typical of the XI — n. XII century. with Gothic columns, intersecting ceilings, arches and windows. These places are really worth visiting, at least once in your life...
