We give this resort the highest rating. It happens on earth when it's not an absolute paradise (and we're not in a hurry :), but it's extremely comfortable.
What would you not like if you were extremely demanding?
1. The absence of a private business lounge in the Velana Seaplane Terminal, which is rare for five-star Maldivian resorts. But it's clear that the hotel is not massive, its own business lounge would hardly be justified, besides, the business lounge of the Male Terminal, which is common for domestic flights, is not so bad. And yes, we and two charming Japanese women were taken to the island by a separate seaplane, which is much more convenient than a combined transfer on domestic airlines with a boat.
2. The underwater fauna of the island is not very rich. It was strange to hear the delight of seeing the few fish after snorkeling in the hotels of the Baa and Raa atolls, which were really super-rich in impressions of the underwater world. However, we have become so familiar in recent years that we have begun to prefer comfort over exoticism.
Sandy beach: there are pebbles with corals in the ocean, but you can avoid them without slippers :)
3. The noise from the pool cleaning system (they are next to each of the villas). It gets in the way day and night. We turned it off by removing the cover and turning the control unit knob to the OFF position. Before leaving, we turned on:)
4. Capricious air conditioning system. It would seem that a good goal is to save electricity, but if you carefully close all the doors for 20 minutes and it refuses to work, then you have to turn on your brain. We did it:) They opened the electric cabinet (above the mini–bar on the wall on the left), turned on all the disconnected RCDs, activated the autonomous air conditioning control device, set the temperature that was convenient for us - and the air conditioner stopped acting up.
5. It is more than a strange decision on the layout of the villa, when the toilet is in the same open space with washbasins and shower, while transparent sliding glass doors on the entire wall to the courtyard with a bathtub and shower. No curtains. We made this wall from floor to ceiling with large umbrellas – unusual in design and more familiar in privacy :)
6. No free offer from the SPA center upon check-in for 2 weeks at ultra all inclusive. 25% discount without trying is not interesting. Well, we didn't. Moreover, the information sent to WhatsApp in Russian looked unrepresentative, and the suggestions of the SPA center representative wandering from table to table during the meals of vacationers at breakfasts and lunches seemed to us inappropriate bad taste.…
There are no rubber beach slates, but there are needles/threads and a bactericidal patch in a set of cosmetics.
7. I didn't want to go to an Italian or Asian restaurant after my first visit. The worst version of Italian cuisine in many years, the Asian one tastes better, but there is no invigorating breeze like in the main restaurant. There is no menu in Russian anywhere, and there is no good beer – draft, live, not pasteurized, or at least a decent laser. I had to drink juices, water, whiskey and wine :)
So why did you like it so much?
1. A really well-maintained and really new resort, and not after some regular renovation. The new one. In the Maldives, resorts often lie about age, here there is no deception.
Unusual plants and trees, beautiful bounty views, palm trees leaning towards the ocean waters, comfortable hammocks, swings, sun beds. Authentic. Atmospheric. Peaceful.
No buggies or rusty bicycles – everything is nearby, new, and beautiful.
2. Previously booked six months in advance on an ultra all inclusive package at a more than reasonable (for Maldives) price.
A full minibar is included at no extra charge (white, pink, red, sparkling wine in full bottles, beer, San Pellegrino, tonics, cola, juices, bounty, nut mix, chips), Laphroaig 10 years on the list of whiskey included in the package, Moscato d'Asti, under a hundred cocktails / mochtels... Breakfasts, lunches, dinners are varied and delicious. The main restaurant liked honey in honeycombs, serving fruits, choosing cheeses, cooking bacon and tuna at the station, proper pilaf, delicious tiramisu, excellent ice cream. We can't drink or eat that much, but we tried :)
3. It's definitely not crowded – there are 50 villas on the island, no crowds, there is no crowding of tables in the main restaurant, a gorgeous breeze outside, high-quality ventilation inside. When booking, we were confused by the lack of air conditioning in the restaurants, but it turned out that the Maldivian breeze, reasonable engineering with architecture and layout are cooler than air conditioning.
4. The design and arrangement of the villas – an interesting combination of wood and metal in the interiors, comfort with two showers - indoors and outdoors, shelter from the sun and rain tables with chairs on the terrace, carefully installed modern umbrella over new and high-quality sun beds, spacious wardrobes, cosmetic, writing and buffet tables, comfortable to sit and throw clothes on the sofa, sockets for charging phones do not require adapters ... The villas fully match the descriptions and exceed the best expectations.
5. Important little things, revealing touches.
High-quality room cleaning during the absence of guests.
Without any reminders or wishes, the manager politely asked my wife on WhatsApp where it would be more convenient for us to receive a birthday cake. He replied that he was in a restaurant. Delicious champagne cakes were served both in the restaurant and in the room. Song, drum, dancing…
When Laphroaig supplies began to run out on the island because of us, they warned us, booked the leftovers for us, ordered more, and brought it back the next day.
One day, after the rain, I wanted to sit on the veranda by the bar, and before I could look back and say a word, I was right next to caring Dennis with beach towels to lay on the chairs that were not completely dry.…
6. A tennis table with the opportunity to play rather than indulge, all recommended distances are observed, decent rackets. Billiards, snooker, table football, air hockey, backgammon, dominoes, chess, checkers, tic-tac-toe ... - rare abundance, excellent condition. A free dolphin viewing tour in their habitat – we were too lazy, but the less lazy ones liked it.
7. It was important for us to hear a decent performance of melodies and songs. It was here. And Yoosuf is, of course, the best performer represented by the resort.
8. After a mournful Intercontinental, we finally managed to dance: there was a DJ with a high-quality offer, we participated in national Maldivian dances, the background music in the bar really saved.
9. Well, and most importantly. At this resort, we plunged into the atmosphere of friendliness, tranquility, sincere care, and the desire to guess even the unspoken wishes of the guests. This is truly unique.
Well done, everyone. The waiters were impressed by the extremely attentive Farah.
But the best of the best, of course, is the employee of the Dennis bar and recreation area, always extremely polite, well-mannered, prudent, positive.
Dennis has gracefully turned into reality our wildest ideas about how high-quality service can be at five-star status resorts.
In decades of extensive travel, we have never met such a professional employee as Dennis in any hotel or country.
That's why Kagi Maldives Resort is a great option for an upscale romantic vacation in the Maldives with impeccable service. Suitable for the most sophisticated, demanding, and pampered!
I liked the hotel, everything is cozy, thoughtful, wonderful restaurants, the coastline is well planned, allowing you to splash in the ocean without fear of waves, currents and fauna.😊
Very beautiful territory, excellent food, but the staff (with the exception of chefs) is a failure ... the rooms also require cosmetic repairs. The care cosmetics in the bathroom do not correspond to 5*.
