The castle was built in the 13th century and has a very rich history. For many centuries, it was owned by the Levonian Order, the Principality of Lithuania, and even the troops of Ivan the Terrible conquered it twice. In Soviet times, the headquarters of the aviation regiment in which I served was located here. Now the castle houses a historical museum, but we were here a few years ago - all the doors were closed.
