The station was opened in November 1873, when it was a single-storey building. After the Great Patriotic War, reconstruction of the building began in 1946 and in 1948 the station became a two-storey building. The sculpture "Peasant Woman", as well as "Worker", was installed only in the 90s and they harmoniously fit into the design concept of the station. Two sculptures at the main entrance to the station symbolize that Gomel region is a hardworking people consisting of workers and peasants who are proud of it. The figure of the sculpture is feminine, not in line with modern standards, when wide male shoulders and narrow hips are in fashion. Both sculptures seem to be alive, in a word, a work of art for the ages! Before the sculptures, the train timetable was posted in these places.
