Our people have always been real Russians, the characters of the film are just great, it should be shown at school so that no one can brainwash our grandchildren.
August 6 is a memorable date in the military history of Russia. On this day in 1915, the defenders of the Osovets fortress, against whom the Germans used poison gases, were able to mount a counterattack.
The enemy was so amazed by the steadfastness and courage of the Russian soldiers that they left the battlefield. This heroic episode will remain in history as the "attack of the dead".
More than 1,600 people were out of action in the fortress. After the gas attack, the German artillery opened heavy fire on the fortress.
The losses from the gases turned out to be significant. As the commandant wrote: "The gas released from the cylinders, of a dark greenish color, quickly headed forward towards the fortress, expanding to the sides and upwards with a rapid forward movement. The action of the gas cloud on the one hand formed a veil hiding the enemy's approach, and on the other hand fatally poisoned everything it passed over....
The remnants of the infantry stood up to meet the Germans - fighters "with faces wrapped in rags, shaking from a terrible cough, literally spitting out pieces of lungs on bloody tunics."
Exhausted, poisoned, they fled. There were no retards, there was no need to rush anyone. There were no separate heroes here, the companies marched as one person, animated by only one goal, one thought: to die, but to take revenge on the vile poisoners
Osovets died, but did not give up.
Major General Brzozowski was the last to leave the deserted fortress. He approached a group of sappers located half a kilometer from the fortress. There was a painful silence. For the last time, after looking at his dilapidated, orphaned, but invincible fortress, Commandant Brzozowski turned the handle himself. An electric current ran through the cable for ages. Finally, there was a terrible roar, the ground shook underfoot and fountains of earth mixed with pieces of reinforced concrete shot up into the sky. Osovets - died, but did not give up! This was the end of more than six months of heroic defense of the Osovets fortress.
Glory to the Russian heroes!
