The small stone tower was built in 1489-1570 during the period of Venetian rule. Several people were on guard in it, whose task was to warn Larnaca about the Arab attack with the help of signal lights. There are several other similar towers in Cyprus in other parts of the island.
On the outer wall of the tower you can see the carved coat of arms of the Republic of Venice - the lion of St. Mark.
One of the characteristic features of the tower is the absence of an entrance to it at ground level. A small opening exists only on the second floor of the tower: when the guard ended, the guards dropped a rope ladder to their relievers.
