The ancient fortress of the main city of the country. Admission costs a nominal amount of money, and it works almost seven days a week. You can take a guided tour to fully understand the rich history of this castle.
An interesting sight! I knew that after the fall of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the Crusaders moved to Cyprus, but I did not expect to see so much "Europe"! The fortress is in very good condition, an interesting museum of a sunken ship, a museum of casemates, you can wander through the underground passage (there is no lighting - we went with a flashlight, but do not be afraid, at the end there is a dead end). I really liked the chapel! If it were not for the heat, then it would be possible to walk around the fortress longer. There is an absolutely charming harbor nearby, more like an Italian or Greek one, we went for a boat ride - the view of the fortress from the water is very impressive!
This is Northern Cyprus, the Turkish Republic, a partially recognized state on the territory of an island in the Mediterranean Sea. The fortress of Kyrenia stands in the city of the same name, on the very shore. It has been preserved / restored perfectly, inside there is a small museum, where the main exhibit is a galley of the IV century BC. From the height of the fortress walls there is a beautiful view of a small harbor surrounded by ancient houses.
I think those who want to experience history should definitely come by, but on my visit 20 years ago, they removed the catapult in their garden, I'm very sorry
Historical castle on the territory of Northern Cyprus, visit 1-2 times ok, interesting) For the most part, the views and the old preserved architectural solutions inside the castle are impressive.
If you love castles, you should definitely pay attention to this one, because:
There are enough interesting dungeons
The torture chamber
Beautiful view from the height of the tower.
Be sure to check out this fortress. A grandiose structure.
There are various expositions inside.
Clay products, jewelry.
Episodes from the life of different eras have been recreated.
An ancient ship is on display.
There is a beautiful courtyard inside.
The top of the fortress offers a fascinating view of the Mediterranean Sea.

The best view of the fortress opens from the open sea. Be sure to take a yacht ride. There is a Byzantine chapel in the fortress itself.
