Of course, the statue is significantly smaller than in Brazil, but it can also be seen both upon arrival in Lisbon and from different parts of the city. There is a museum in the old ones

Briefly about the main thing - "Christ is one and the impact, if you believe, is the same!"... Maybe I'll get lucky from the observation deck on the second of August with the good old D-10...

The history of the creation of the shrine began in 1934, when Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon Manuel Goncalves Serejeira visited Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), he was struck by the monument of Christ the Redeemer, which was opened in 1931. The Patriarch was so inspired that he certainly decided to build a similar monument in Lisbon. The giant cement statue was erected in 1959 as a sign of gratitude that the Portuguese were spared the consequences of World War II. To this day, Christ (Cristo Rei) with open arms seems to protect the city from troubles.

An impressive place. It is difficult to get there by public transport on your own. I was taking a taxi. It is not necessary to go up to the observation deck. The views are amazing everywhere!

The main attraction of Lisbon. One of several statues of Christ similar in Rio de Janeiro. There is a large free parking lot. Take the elevator up. Upstairs there is an observation deck with panoramic views of Lisbon, a souvenir shop where you can buy a large-scale replica of the statue. I recommend.

A fascinating place! The strongest energy! It doesn't matter, Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant. Christ is one and the effect, if you believe, is the same! I strongly advise you to visit and be sure to go upstairs!
