The oldest building in the monastery is the chapel, which dates back to 1424. The monastery complex includes fountains, towers, chapels and monastic cells. Frescoes from the 17th and 18th centuries depict scenes from the Bible. The Kaymakli Monastery remained the seat of the diocese of Trabzon until 1915.
