Located in the Vatican Museums, the Carriage Pavilion (Padiglione delle Carrozze) is part of the Vatican Historical Museum (Museo storico vaticano), whose main exhibitions are located in the Lateran Apostolic Palace. The most striking exhibit of the Carriage Pavilion is the magnificent carriage (Berlina di Gran Gala), made in 1826 for Pope Leo XII, and the most famous is the Fiat Campagnola papamobile, in which Pope John Paul II was on May 13, 1981, the day of the assassination attempt on him in St. Peter's Square...
