The Capitol is one of the world's decision-making centers. Being next to him, you feel his energy and greatness. It is a very beautiful architectural building. Powerful.
I have been in the USA for more than 10 years as part of the international Open World exchange. I represented leaders in the field of human rights activities from Ukraine
It's a beautiful Palace, which is worth going around from all sides and taking a closer look at the architecture, since access is possible right up close. It is even allowed to climb several steps of the central staircase.
The park is surrounded on three sides, and a huge street begins on the fourth, with museums, museums, and museums on the right and left!
You can walk along them for a week, further from the Capitol, all the way to the Lincoln Monument.
In the middle of this path there will be the Washington Monument and from there you will have a wonderful view of the White House.
The Capitol in Washington, surrounded by majestic architecture and rich history, is a symbol of American democracy. This is the place where the most important decisions are made and meetings of the US Congress are held. The positive aspects of the Capitol include its cultural and historical significance, as well as its significance as a symbol of freedom and democracy for many people not only in the United States, but also around the world.
However, it is also worth noting the negative aspects associated with the capitol. The recent events of January 6, 2021, when the building was attacked by protesters, showed the vulnerability of the security system and caused a wave of criticism regarding the lack of preparedness for such incidents. It can also be noted that there are periods in the history of the Capitol when it was used to support racist policies.
In general, the Capitol in Washington remains an important symbol and institution, but at the same time requires improving the security system and encouraging more balanced actions in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The dome of the Capitol is very similar to the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg. This is not an accident - in 2003, documents were found confirming that architect Thomas Walter used drawings by Auguste Montferrand, the author of St. Isaac's Cathedral, when designing the cast-iron dome of the Capitol.
Interesting free excursions. Who is interested in the history of the USA. Do not take food and drinks, even in bottles, with you, they will force you to throw everything away. Inside, if anything, there are drinking fountains, just like everywhere else in the USA.
This is beauty and power, and in all the little things you can without exaggeration call a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, even modernism, also anyone can come up and capture themselves or anyone against the background of this structure and sit on the lawn next to the building, by the squirrels and copies of the deciduous trees collected here are generally silent!
I was there in 2022, the stench is terrible, I don't know what it's connected with, but there's only a respirator. But there are fountains with water inside.
I've been there a couple of times, not bad, but it stinks of rot for kilometers around, the locals say it comes from a pond mired in mud, and some claim that from the capitol itself, in general, you won't understand. I took a picture of a can going for a swim in the pond, but he had to go to the helicopter, as it turned out later. The guide said that due to his age, his organs of smell, hearing and vision are already failing, it is by no means unenviable for a man!
