The museum is interesting and informative. But you need to take into account that it is better to visit as close as possible to the opening, so that there are fewer people. We were with a guide, we liked the tour and the exhibits. In some places, you can't take photos, which there are special announcements about. There are almost always a lot of people around the key expositions, but if you wait, you can seize the moment and photograph the exhibit without people.
I want to draw attention to the fact that the toilets in the museum are FREE (but the No tips signs are almost always covered by the wide backs of local residents). At the entrance, they give you a paper and tell you that you will give the money at the exit. In general, I gave them Russian tens, which shocked the local young ladies, but it's money, because during the trip it even became a bit insulting that you have to pay for a FREE service for everyone except tourists.
An interesting, ambiguous impression of the museum. The old building, the somewhat shabby halls, the slightly outdated design of the exhibitions, but everything overlaps with the impression of the exhibits. Tutankhamun - fire!Apart from the pharaohs' mummies and Tutankhamun's treasure, the most important artifacts are located here. Narmer's palette, which is also one of the first exhibits that a visitor sees when entering the museum.
There are still a lot of interesting things in the halls of the museum. I think if we get a chance, we'll definitely visit here again.
What a museum, my God))) My dream has come true!! It costs about 1,500, in my opinion. It's much more expensive for foreigners, cheap for locals. We stood in line, but it passed quickly. You can buy tickets both at the vending machine and at the ticket office. There are free luggage rooms, although tips are requested. They also ask for tips in the toilet, but there are official signs asking not to give.
The museum itself is gorgeous. We walked for several hours. We were already tired at the end.
I can't believe it's real)))
Master Xi in Cairo!!!
!! At the end, there is a very cool joke in the store: the robot writes your name in hieroglyphs. Like on papyrus. It costs like 500 rubles. We made ourselves a present.
The museum is definitely worth a visit!
2 floors, a large number of exhibits, a lot of interesting things!
The main thing is to get a good guide.. It's not very useful for us..
There are a lot of tourists!
The collection of Egyptian antiquities is incredibly large and atmospheric. Beautifully organized expositions. Visitors from all over the world. Convenient online ticket sales. The recommended visit time is at least 4 hours.
A very interesting museum filled with historical treasures of ancient Egypt. There are ancient scrolls, household and other utensils, things from the everyday life of the pharaohs themselves, and the mummies of the pharaohs themselves are right there. There are a lot of people, but this is not surprising.
The museum itself is a magnificent building and the exhibits certainly deserve attention, because they can't be seen anywhere else. But pandemonium! Our bus was one of nine hundred and fifty. There is no way to enjoy the exhibits, because you are afraid to lag behind the guide, because the headphones that you are given lose contact at a great distance, and lose your family in the chaos around you. Plus endless searches of things that are a little tiring. But it's worth a visit if you choose the optimal time (we were on a day off) and a more efficient guide.
A huge majestic museum, it did not work out to consider everything because the tour was almost a run, but the main exhibits were seen, a sarcophagus, a mask made of gold, majestic statues, and it is also very impressive to see something that is more than 3,000 years old, especially if it is a real mummy. The museum gives out an earpiece and the guide is perfectly audible. Things shine through at the entrance to the museum, I had nail clippers and tweezers in my makeup bag, they looked at them but missed them, it's better to post this in the future. Despite the fatigue (we left Sharma at night) We liked it.
It's a sooo old museum, which apparently doesn't have any money invested in it. The building is large, there are many exhibits, and there are even more people. The ticket price is not high. With the tour, there is little time to inspect the exhibits. Everybody run, run. But for the main museum of Egypt, it is a very modest building, and many things require repair and even basic cleaning. There is a lot of dust inside. This is the face of the country, but apparently it is what it is.
The museum is very interesting. There are so many exhibits and history there that you can probably go there for several years. Moreover, the impressions from the visit were better than from the pyramids. There are a lot of crooked traders on the pyramids - who don't let you walk around there quietly. And here, in the museum, there was only one unpleasant moment - the cleaner in the toilet very obsessively demanded to give him a dollar.
Later, when I was flying away, I already noticed that everywhere there are signs saying that you do not need to tip. It turns out that beggars work everywhere.
The 18th century building was built and looks like a palace of that time, with columns and stairs, high ceilings and passages. Most of the exhibits are placed in wooden boxes and shelves behind glass, reminiscent of our polytechnic museum, except for the most valuable ones, which are located in separate rooms where photos and videos are prohibited. Be sure to take a Russian-speaking guide, as it is difficult to get around and see the 153000 exhibits and a lot is not clear. I highly recommend visiting this museum. Aim for at least 3-4 hours in order to just go around and see the main thing.
It's a nice big museum. We were in November 24, and some of the exhibits disappeared because a new museum was opened in Giza and everything is being transported there, but overall everything is fine.
The museum was sooo impressed. I strongly advise you to visit! There are a lot of historical artifacts, a lot of history. Tutankhamun's mask was impressive. There are a lot of statues.
Someone likes it, someone doesn't, my opinion is just great!!! The history of the ancient civilization is breathtaking. If you are going on a guided tour, try to make sure that your guide not only speaks Russian or (your language), but also speaks clearly!!! Then your tour of the museum will be fascinating. I advise everyone.
A huge museum with tens of thousands of exhibits. The pictures from the history textbook came to life before my eyes. There are a lot of artifacts, sarcophagi, statues, the golden mask of Tutankhamun. A very interesting and informative tour! We took an individual one, spent more than five hours in the museum and I want to come back again.
The museum itself is just an exhibit itself, in some showcases there are simply priceless exhibits, and the showcases were made back in the 80s and you can't look without tears
The place is certainly very exciting for this particular antiquity, but the organization and its condition are depressing.
And soon this museum will be closed, everything will be in a new one next to the pyramids of Giza
We arrived half an hour after the opening, and there were already a lot of visitors. And by noon it was much more. We ran through the exposition in 2.5 hours, and if we look at it thoroughly, we can walk there all day. We read in the reviews that it was stuffy and hot - no, we were comfortable. There are a lot of exhibits, and everyone will find something interesting for themselves.
The most ancient exhibits are impressive - sarcophagi, mummies, the golden mask of Tatankhamun, etc. They give you headphones to listen to the guide. But the number of people is just pandemonium. The walls are asking for repairs. The cost for adults is 700 Egyptian pounds, for schoolchildren- 350, children under 6 years old are free (January 2025). Bags are scanned at the entrance and exit, and a metal detector is used to inspect them. The exit is through a souvenir shop, where prices are naturally overpriced.
Well done, how boring it can be.. it seems like 120 thousand exhibits, but the question is: what the fuck? but it's cool that you can see the original tombs of Tutankhamun and all kinds of decorations. Well, it's worth visiting once)
Even though some of the exhibits have been moved to a new museum, there is an incredible atmosphere in this museum. It is better to come to the opening whenever possible, because after an hour and a half the museum is almost completely filled. There is a cafe on site.
We were on an excursion. The museum itself is scary, but the exhibits are priceless. It's a pity we watched everything online, minus excursions from hotels. I recommend
Of course, the most interesting museum. You definitely need to go with a guide, otherwise you will just walk around and look at the exhibits without understanding their value. The ticket can only be paid by card, cash is not accepted. Or find someone who can buy for you.
We visited the museum in October, the weather was normal, not very hot, 28 degrees. The museum is huge, very interesting, you can't get around it in a day, even if you want, because unfortunately there are no air conditioners, and after an hour of visiting you just walk wet, and such splendor!you can drink not very tasty coffee on the street, there are many cafes.
A wonderful huge museum, many tens of thousands of exhibits. Of the large ones - sarcophagi, tombs, statues. I was lucky to see the mask of Tutankhamun, the sarcophagus. In one of the halls there is a silver sarcophagus, gold, jewelry made of gold. I tried to get around to the maximum in one day, spent about five hours there, and it's not enough, but it's enough to get acquainted with almost everything presented. It's summer, the museum is stuffy, there are no good conduits, there are rare fans.
I really liked it , I recommend it
The museum occupies a large old building in the center of the city, and when you wander through the halls, it seems that all this is alien, as if they took a conditional government house and put exhibits everywhere. As it turned out, it is, the building was the residence of the viceroy a hundred years ago. The problem is that for a hundred years it has not been fully adapted for a museum. Let's face it: a ticket for an adult is 450 pounds in 2024, payment is only by card. The price for an Egyptian citizen is 30 pounds. There are no discounts on resident's cards. Inside, everything is very dusty, gloomy, saved only by the abundance of windows and natural lighting. Most of the showcases inside are covered with a layer of dust, the lighting of the exhibits is insufficient, the lamps have burned out in places, in general, no one keeps order. Many statues are "patched up" - thousands of people come day after day to touch the history, it is very noticeable. The museum is completely offline. No innovations, multimedia exhibits, screens, virtualization. No sound effects. The signatures to many exhibits are even printed on a typewriter! Unfortunately, more was expected from a museum of this level. The main exhibit is the golden mask of Tutankhamun. It is strictly forbidden to photograph her, but only because of this mask the museum is worth a visit. Also, at the exit of the museum there is a chic store of cool unusual souvenirs. I was also very impressed by the mummy of a huge perch.
The museum is large, but we walked through the most famous exhibits with a guide. He told me, showed me and gave me time to move freely around the museum. It's a pity there's not much time, most likely I would have walked around for a couple of hours and looked at everything. There are a lot of people, it's cool in the museum. Tutankhamun's tomb was not allowed to be photographed, beggars collect money in the toilet. At the exit there is a market for all the junk, where prices are significantly inflated, there are a lot of beggars and scammers at the exit from the territory.
There are real mummies in the museum! And many unique exhibits! Despite the large number of tourists. The exhibits can be viewed calmly!
A must-visit place! If you are going on a guided tour, it will last 2 hours!
This museum did not reach the maximum rating, because it is incredibly stuffy and hot in it. There is no air conditioning system from the word at all. Otherwise, it is the most interesting place for those who are interested in Egypt, Egyptology and the history of the ancient world in general. I advise you and recommend you to visit.
A very majestic museum. I couldn't see everything, just a glimpse (we were there for about an hour) . But it is impressive that such grandiose sculptures, statues, all this has been preserved through thousands of years. There are guides working in the museum, they give out headphones. It's interesting to listen. I advise everyone.
The museum is old and big, and you need to put in at least 3 hours. There are a lot of tourists, they won't get through. There is only one toilet on the street, there are souvenirs and cafes in the courtyard.
There are many great antiquities: mummies and things of Tutankhomon's grandparents, his sarcophagi (about 80kg and 110kg in gold) and much more.
However, in some places it looks more like a warehouse than a museum: it's a little dirty, sometimes I passed by some lying sarcophagi, as if someone had forgotten them there.
I got a much better impression from the more thoughtful and modern museum in Sharm el-Sheikh. And here it's as if I didn't have enough knowledge of the context, without which it's not worth going to the museum. And part of the museum was moved to a new one, which will be opened soon. Maybe that's why it was not very clear and it seemed that the exhibits were scattered randomly.
There are many antiquities. 450 pounds adult 230 children, Union Pay is not taken, when paying in cash it became more expensive by 100 pounds (I bought 3 adults 1 child)
They didn't take a guide, they just walked around and read the signs. It took us about 2 hours to inspect.
Just a great museum (I haven't been in this for a long time), each hall is interesting in its own way, a lot of artifacts, sarcophagi, household items, jewelry, I recommend it to anyone who is thinking (price 450 pounds). They won't tell you this in history lessons or show you how to see it with your own eyes, I give the museum 10 out of 10 points.
It was very cool, mummies, sarcophagi, an interesting story from our guide, I was pleasantly impressed, the market at the exit from the museum was also very good☺️
The museum needs to be visited!!! But with a good Egyptologist. Who will tell and show. This was recommended to us, and we were delighted. The museum is huge. There are a lot of expositions. Accordingly, everything is interesting!!! Time is fleeting there. Three and a half hours flew by like ten minutes. It is better to book a separate tour. You won't be taken shopping (which you don't need). A minibus with 12 seats, a guide, 2 drivers and a company of up to 6 people (to travel comfortably).
I want to tell you about the museum in Cairo, Egypt. I came to this city specifically to visit the museum. It is an architectural monument in itself, founded in the 19th century. When you walk through the halls you feel a touch of antiquity, there are a lot of exhibits, columns, mummies, frescoes, competent specialists conduct very interesting excursions. Complete delight. I advise everyone who comes to this city to visit this place. Memories for a lifetime
The museum is very interesting in terms of content, there are many different exhibits, including the golden sarcaphagi of the pharaohs, the throne and the funeral mask of the pharaoh. But the museum itself is very outdated, there are no air conditioners at all, repairs have not been done for a long time, the whole situation in the museum itself is shabby, but I note once again there are many exhibits in the museum!!!
The impression of visiting the museum is unforgettable, so many exhibits are diverse, plunged into the ancient world - statues, artifacts, mummies, tombs, sarcophagi, etc. The golden mask of Tutankhamun, the golden sarcophagus, the statue of Nefertiti. We came across a wonderful Russian-speaking guide, he told us so many interesting and informative things, showed so many interesting exhibits. We entered the museum immediately without a queue, the flow of tourists is large, but there are no queues. If you are in Cairo, be sure to visit this museum, you will not regret it.
There are a lot of people, if this tour had not been included in the guided tour program, we would not have gone here separately, as we do not really like museums.
we took a guide right on the territory of the museum. it's much more interesting than walking around and not understanding what it is and what it means)
there are real mummies there))
The museum is world famous. Has a great collection. When visiting the museum, they used an excursion escort. The guide is very well prepared, conducted an excellent tour. We were very satisfied.
A purely tourist place created by the Portuguese together with the French for the Egyptians, who don't give a damn about their history. Well done, we have saved a lot of interesting things, we will wax the event for 40 minutes.
A very unusual place. It struck both from the good and from the not-so-good side. The good thing is that it amazes how fine jewelers these people were, of great taste and skill. The fresco with geese also struck. They can't even repeat it on their papyri right now. From not very-I believe that many exhibits should not be seen by living people. The floor of the museum is corpses and coffins. And from looted graves. It's not ethical, at least, to put all these things, vases with guts, on public display.
A huge museum, pictures from the history of the Ancient World come to life right in front of you. There are a lot of exhibits. It would be a mistake to come to Egypt and not visit this museum. We had a guide, Mohamed, I really liked his excursions, quickly showed the main exhibits, then gave time for individual study.
