Well, the reception staff is very tired. The hotel itself is in terrible condition, the rooms are not prepared for the arrival of guests: dirty refrigerator, table, stained mattresses, uncomfortable lumpy pillows. Our room faced the prom wall. The rooms were filled with an impossible hum, the furniture, the bathroom were shabby, and the smell in the room was disgusting. The only plus is the restaurant: there is a large selection and everything is delicious, but again, the fussy waiter snatches the plates without asking permission. We do not recommend the hotel. We had a great rest in this amazing country, met wonderful people. Throughout the trip, and we traveled to many cities, there was kindness and respect for us as guests everywhere. And it's a pity that the trip is ending, staying at this hotel is the worst thing we had to face.
It is a very picturesque place, considering that Chekhov stayed there in 1890. The hotel is in a colonial style. It's not about luxury, it's about history and color. And the location in the heart of Colombo. I didn't regret being there.

Queen Elizabeth and Anton Palych Chekhov stayed at this hotel, the repairs were last done with them. The staff is polite, courteous, speak English.
