Interesting place. During the Soviet era it was a gorgeous hotel probably, but now it looks really outdated. Old rooms, doors, halls. However, the location itself isn't bad. Almaty is known for not quite good quality of air but this part of the city is good and close to Medeo and Chimbulak ski resort.

Excellent hotel, very welcoming, we had a wonderful stay. Staff is highly efficient and proactive. The room was good and comfortable, moreover, the housekeeping staff was also efficient. The buffet breakfast had various options and was very good.

Very convenient location of the hotel. The rooms are cozy, comfortable, and clean. The room has a view of the whole city and, most importantly, a view of these majestic mountains of the Trans-Ili Alatau.bigtrip.kz-individual tours on comfortable SUVs.
Charyn Canyon, Kolsai Lake, Kaindy Lake. There are several restaurants in the hotel, and there are night clubs near the hotel.

A good hotel, excellent breakfasts, friendly and courteous staff. There is an exchange office at the reception. Parking is not big. Unfortunately, the housing stock is old, the mattresses are bad (it's important for me, I slept badly), I note they are cleaned well, and the bed is clean. I also got to some kind of Indian race, 70% of the guests. Lived high up, good view. Since the hotel is from Soviet times, this was to be expected. Everything else is fine.

It's a good place. There are excellent rooms. The rooms have a standard set for hygiene, Quiet, calm. Breakfast is on the level, included in the room rate. This huge chandelier in the hall is a work of art! I want to believe that in the near future the rooms will have a more modern design and the refrigerators will not make so much noise!

The hotel is good. Some floors are currently undergoing renovation. Of the advantages - a good breakfast, a large assortment, everything is fresh; the hotel has many floors, we lived on 23m-the view of the city and the mountains is awesome. One of the disadvantages is that the elevators take a long time to go up and down when the hotel is densely populated, this is a problem; some rooms are slightly "tired", but everything is clean and cozy. The location is great, it is convenient to move around the city. There is a lift near Koktebel, a large shopping center (Dostyk Plaza) is 20 minutes away at a relaxed pace. There are several good restaurants nearby, two Starjacks in the range of 5 minutes.
The conclusion is that we had a great time here.

A wonderful hotel!
Professional and very polite staff, clean, warm, the hotel itself is a power! The view zones from each window are mountain ranges, and on the upper floors in the morning, when it's foggy, you can't see the ground, thick clouds and mountains)) the breakfasts are good, the restaurants are at the hotel. I really liked everything!

The hotel is big. The location is excellent. It wasn't until I was checked into my room that I saw and heard the night bar from the window. It's good that I arrived at night and found out right away. She asked for a higher room and went to the other side. Given. Only it was so cold there, the wind was blowing from the window, it was in the month of July. What's going on in winter?! And the shower wasn't working yet, or rather there was no hot water. I asked for another number again. Moreover, it took a very long time to wait in both cases. As a result, I checked into the third room 2 hours after I arrived. In general, if there were no such adventures, you could say that everything is fine on 4. The breakfasts are excellent, by the way. The staff is polite, but the change of rooms is very unhurried. 🙃

A hotel with a great history in the center of Almaty. Some of the rooms have already been renovated in a modern way, some are in the process, and some with a fairly old renovation. I think all the rooms will be new soon. The only drawback in the rooms is water problems. Sometimes you wait for hot water for a long time, then the drain does not work very well, then the water pressure. The problem needs to be solved...
The breakfasts are great!!! And dinners at the same restaurant.

The Kazakhstan Hotel is a very beautiful building, it is an architectural monument of 1974, 26-storey. Convenient location in the center of Almaty, near the hotel there is a funicular to Kok-Tobe mountain, parks, central square. Everything is within walking distance.
The rooms are cozy, beautiful views from the Windows. Lots of elevators, beautiful inside and out.
Breakfasts at the hotel are distinguished by a variety of dishes for every taste.
The hotel staff is very polite and professionally trained. The room is cleaned daily.
I recommend this hotel to everyone, you will not regret it.

The place is iconic.
It is a Soviet building, but the interior is being updated. Not big comfortable rooms with good repair. Buffet breakfasts. Excellent cuisine. Everything is delicious and standard.
4 I put an Abai hall for the candy. In which he spent 3 long days. It stands out sharply from the entire hotel. Non-working sockets (to our remark, the technician said that it was necessary to disassemble the table. In 3 days, he did not get to the outlets. It's good that they gave you an extension cord) Constant noise from the refrigerator (empty).
There are many places to go for dinner around the hotel. Everything is within walking distance.
By the way, the currency exchanger is right there in the hotel (next to the reception). The exchange rate is the same as in the nearby exchangers.
If you go on vacation, I would put all 5 stars.

I like the atmosphere in this hotel! Usually I am either in the lobby or in the Thai spa center))
In the lobby there is delicious coffee, pastries, comfortable armchairs and sofas, Wi-Fi, you can work online or just drink coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is on top 24/7. There is a white grand piano in the corner, it is often played professionally by tourists
I don't know, of course there are cooler hotels, but I love this one for a special vibe.

The landmark hotel was built in 1974. The first skyscraper in Almaty. It is considered one of the earthquake-resistant buildings in the city. The hotel is quite comfortable, the staff is polite, there is a lobby bar, a restaurant on the 26th floor. There are a lot of places and interesting locations nearby.
The hotel has a spa on the 16th floor. Not to be confused with a spa complex with a thermal zone. In this case, you will get half an hour to warm up in the sauna. Hammam (small) for an additional fee.additional payment. Massage, of course, is also at a separate price list.
Of the minuses, the repair is of course done with many minor flaws and requires updating. Breakfasts are between 3+ and 4. For 6 days in a row, the only variety was soups that changed every day. All other dishes and snacks are the same.

Four of them. I really don't like the breakfasts, the rooms are small. This is the Soviet landmark of Almaty. There is a great restaurant on the roof, not cheap but delicious. There's also a couple downstairs, a nice Guinness bar across the street. You can stay for a couple of nights

The hotel is very beautiful from the outside and in the lobby of the 1st floor. But the room stock is very tired. As well as bed linen with bathrobes and towels. I would put 1 piece of furniture and 3 underwear. Hot water appears after 10 minutes of spilling... There are no tubes of creams or shower gels. But there are kits for brushing teeth
and a gel with shampoo 2 in 1. But with all this!
Beds and mattresses, pillows, blankets are very comfortable!
The breakfasts are varied. Fruits and vegetables are delicious. There is honey in sets, various pastries, sour milk, etc. In general, the food is 5.
The reception is quite qualified.
On the 1st floor there is a liquor store and 24x7
Therefore, there are more pros than cons.
If you are not pretentious about plumbing and the quality of the room stock, but just spends the night in a hotel, then I recommend it.
