"Gagra market is a real godsend for everyone who loves an authentic atmosphere and high–quality products! There is an amazing atmosphere of hospitality here, and the vendors are always happy to help and offer something special. The huge selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, nuts and local delicacies is amazing. I was especially impressed with the Abkhazian tangerines and honey – the taste is simply indescribable! I also liked that you can find unique souvenirs and handmade items that will be a great gift for your loved ones. The cleanliness and order of the market, pleasant prices and the goodwill of the sellers make visiting this place a real pleasure. I will definitely come back here again!"
Those who are nostalgic for the USSR will like the market. A large, covered area with shopping malls. It doesn't look well-groomed, but for some reason it's cute.
There you can buy a variety of oriental sweets, local fruits, cheeses and sausages.
You can also have an oriental coffee.
Without really reading the small label, I bought a mutton "local" sausage there,
At home, I found that it was produced in Taganrog.
For some reason, I naively believed that everything that is sold in this market is certainly produced in Abkhazia.
I even asked the saleswoman if it was made here and received an affirmative answer)
Probably this is what left an unpleasant aftertaste.
But maybe she just didn't want to destroy my illusions.
The market is diverse, for every taste. Local fruits at prices not lower than Russian ones , but much sweeter, it is better to take from grandmothers. You can buy souvenirs and things, and be sure to bargain. Spices are arranged in slides, beautifully, but I was afraid to take them, since they lie open (dust is unambiguous) and it is not known what quality. It is better to take industrial, packaged ones - they are also present on the market and you can see the production date and expiration date.
The market is like a market, the prices are the same for everyone. You need to be careful with spices, you can bring bugs home. There are shops with Turkish sweets, there are covered pavilions, the same situation is there-bugs, everything is oak (I'm talking about Turkish delight) tea was charged 200 rubles per bag, I didn't take homemade wine, because I had experience of poisoning. Tangerines are delicious and inexpensive, 80 rubles per 1 kg, and there are cheaper ones , but they are small and sour. It's not worth tasting everything in a row, you can spend the night on the push afterwards. Good luck to all
The market is big, colorful, and cool. There are a lot of Turkish goods, sweets, souvenirs. Prices are not lower than in the Russian Federation, including for fruits. Only tobacco products are cheaper.
Jeanne with her spices is a huge minus!!! We bought a lot of spices for ourselves and friends, but all turned out to be with bugs, and some with worms!!!
Example of prices for some products:
Bay leaf (broom) small. 50p, bol. 150
Cigarettes from 30p pack (RB), local about 80-100, sticks Hits 280 (!) r
Local lemonades (glass 0.5) from 60 to 100p
Dried persimmon from 750 to 1000 per kg
Ice cream cup local 25p
Peaches, nectarines are delicious 250-350, homemade 100-150 were taken (did not like it)
Beer local glass 0.5 from 70 to 100 r on average
Wines, chacha from 300 per liter, homemade more expensive
The market is not big, but you can buy all the prices do not bite very much, the main thing is to be able to bargain in Abkhazia, this is normal, and finally the most important thing, dear women! if you dream of a fur coat, then you definitely need to come here!! We bought my wife a mink coat, Pyatigorsk fur. Factories ATTENTION!!! FOR 85 THOUSAND RUBLES!!!! The fur coat sat down like a glove, of excellent quality, light as a feather. I'll try to attach a photo, but I'm not sure what will happen.
We read the reviews and it was scary to go, but we decided to take a look.
As soon as we entered, we were very pleasantly surprised, everything was clean (as in some reviews, it was very dirty) and very nice and friendly people, we bought everything we needed and calmly left.
No one piled anything on us or dragged us by the hands (as they say in the reviews).
I don't know if we're lucky or if everything is always so decent, but if we're still there, we'll definitely stop by again.
It was 09.01.2025
The market in Gagra has a large assortment.
The meat is sold in a separate large pavilion with a huge number of flies. Sausage at the entrance to the pavilion, but with flies (sitting right on the sausage).
Fruits and vegetables are all imported. We visited the market on 09/10/2024, in the central part of the market near the meat pavilion and at the exit they sold us green tangerines with a leaf, peaches, cucumbers, melon and watermelon, and also wanted to sell pomegranates. Everything is not local on the market: tangerines from China, peaches from Turkey, melon is yellow outside - green inside, watermelon itself cracked on the table at home and leaked out.
Abkhazia is a beautiful republic, but edible and local fruits are absent here in the main season.
I liked only the pavilions along the road at the entrance: you can buy souvenirs and Turkish delight (oriental sweets) at one of the best prices in Abkhazia.
A good selection of vegetables, fruits, all kinds of sweets, tea, nuts and other things. In souvenir shops you can always find something interesting to give to your family and friends. But it's better not to buy wine and chacha here.) Chebureks from the stall were not particularly impressed, I don't know why they are so praised, for my taste, our old-school grannies are much tastier. And so, we went several times, the place is interesting, we always bought something. Impressions of the market are generally positive.
We almost always visit the market when we rest in Gagra or Pitsunda, in general, you can buy food and things at the normal market, in summer, of course, the price tag is much higher, for example, for the same dried persimmon almost 2 times, in December everything is cheap because there are no people.
The market is small, but you can buy anything you want to bring home there. Excellent wine and champagne, delicious cheese chips (three times cheaper than at a cheese tasting), tea is 2.5 times cheaper. Spices, tangerines, sweets. We bought everything there and were satisfied. Beware only of gypsy women with their charms when entering the market.
There is a large selection of everything delicious, the sellers are responsive, you can bargain, the market itself is clean, it is better to look for parking in advance, since everything is mostly occupied near the market
You can find a lot of products here, just like in a regular big market! By the new year, even live roosters and turkeys were sold. But there is one thing! The sellers are sociable and fly everything a lot more expensive than if you bought it at the store across the street!!! It's up to you to choose whether there's a market or a store across the street, and sometimes it's 25% cheaper.%
An authentic place with an Abkhazian flavor! When you first visit this market, your eyes "run away" from the abundance of all kinds of products. Various types of cheeses, meat products , spices , tea, whatever your heart desires. Sellers willingly invite you to taste their products, which of course is difficult to refuse. We visited Abkhazia in mid-August, delicious local seasonal fruits such as figs, peaches, nectarines are on the shelves. Prices are quite expected for vacationers, (of whom the market is dominated) do not be afraid to bargain, because the discount level will depend on the specific seller and his compliance. A fly in the ointment - we heard "interesting things" about ourselves a couple of times in the back, after we left one point without buying anything there to another, of course we did not focus on this, because we came on vacation, and not to sort things out) Summarizing the above, I recommend you to visit, even if you are not ready to buy something, at least as a sightseeing tour of the local gastronomy! P.S. Shops with souvenir paraphernalia are represented in sufficient numbers in the territory adjacent to the market...
If you want to plunge into history, go.
The condition of 30 years ago is provided for you.
There is a variety. The color. You could even say edible. But I can't judge how much you will want to buy it.
One thing is for sure. If you can find a nearby bakery where they bake tortillas in a tandoor. Take it without hesitation. Two. Eat one without leaving the cash register. You can even use cheese bought at the bazaar. The second one, of course, may not get home either ... :)
It's a pity they only accept cash or transfer by phone number if you have a local SIM card or roaming is enabled.
A large selection of food and not only, a variety of fruits and vegetables, prices are pleasing, you can try it here, taste goodies, a huge selection of seasonings, homemade wine, nuts, churchkhela is different, there is a cafe, near the market with clothing trade pavilions.
It's a fairy tale! There are so many things! A huge selection of all goods and products! Gorgeous Abkhazian teas with herbs, natural honey, legendary seasonings, cheeses, vegetables and much more! I would only go there for purchases, but I do not live in Abkhazia. Always when visiting this wonderful country, I will stop by this market! He's the best!
A colorful market, you can buy tea for every taste, churchkhela, honey and many, many different cheeses, sausages, homemade peaches, figs, etc. There is also a clothing market, if you forgot something at home, you can buy it here. The prices are different for any wallet.
This market was bought before leaving, which I regret))) on the 2nd floor, where you can climb with a stroller, there is a department with a nice lady))) and here you can buy all sorts of little things and find out the information you need))) next, you will discover a world of taste for sweet tooth and meat tooth))))) we were cut off to taste the sausage, tender and delicious ;) we made a discount on locally made cheese and treated them to a pastille))) I advise everyone to visit the market......especially the second floor)))
An old market with some kind of indescribable local flavor and a special atmosphere, most likely, if you try hard, you can find everything on it, as they say, from a loaf to a patron. We always take spices from Sergey and Zhanna, tea and tangerines there.
Good afternoon, everyone. I have visited this market many times. A peculiar aura and atmosphere. The quality of products and prices is a controversial issue. Everything is for the amateur. Just be careful, vigilant, and don't trust words and promises.
A great place, a large selection of souvenirs, local wine, tea and spices. Spices are very fragrant, they can not be found in stores, and if there are, then with prices that are many times higher.
An excellent market, open every day, there is absolutely everything, including clothes, alcohol, vegetables, fruits, homemade products, flowers, spices, souvenirs and cosmetics.
The market is like everywhere else . But I recommend very high quality products. There is a dining room where you can eat and there is a bathroom. The market is located in the building and on the street in tents.
A good market. There are many products that you need at an affordable price. The choice is very good. There is a wholesale store nearby - the prices are just SUPER.
The market is saturated, but it's cheaper on the street. Sweets are the same everywhere in principle in terms of price, but you need to try, because everything is prepared differently and tastes very different.
I really liked it! Especially the prices in the part that is away from the road) There, prices and goods are much better, cheaper and more diverse than in the first rows) Very tasty coffee on the sand on the counter next to the covered two-storey market building.
A wonderful market with great prices! We went there every day and bought everything!!! Chacha, tangerines, feijoa, persimmon, tea, seasonings... Everything tastes divine! I will never forget this wonderful market!
The market is quite large for a small town, prices are cheaper on weekends in the morning, as sellers from the villages come. If you are missing the 90s, then be sure to go upstairs and enter the building.
There are mountains of captcha cheese, various fish, and meat products here, too. And there is a variety of sweets in general, the eyes run away. Tea, jams, nuts, fruits, etc. In general, we bought specifically.
The market is large, there are clothes and products, honey, nuts, adjika (very tasty, we make sauce from it),adjika for 300 rubles a jar 0.5,there are different teas, a large jar 150-250 rubles, various spices, sweets, wine, fruits. There are many souvenir stalls nearby. You can buy everything on the market cheaper than they offer on excursions. Below is a photo where they bought tea and adjika. They also have maclure, raw and tincture (treats joints well)
Classic Soviet-style market: products: meat, cheeses, nuts, spices, dried fruits, lemonades, clothing, beach equipment, second-hand books and antiques. There are not many local goods, many fruits are Turkish, sausages are Russian or Armenian, etc.
An excellent market, a large assortment, prices from all sellers are different, you can search and find goods at an affordable price, you can bargain. The quality of the product is good, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
There is a lot of assortment of goodies, a lot of national different products, but you need to know who to buy it from, and not everyone can cook like them, you need to look carefully so as not to be deceived by price and weight, the coolest spices in the middle of the market are written by Zhanna always gives gifts and puts a lot of spices she does not regret))
I liked the market, we found everything we wanted, even glasses with diopters at +2.75))
We realized that next time in Abkhazia, the first thing to do is go to the Gagra market for souvenirs and gifts, and then walk quietly)
Groceries are cheaper than on excursions in the mountains. Although, there is one sausage pavilion where there are some cosmic prices for meat products! I really liked the juices: pomegranate, feijoa, I advise you! Three hundred rubles and a half liter bottle. There are no fruits from Abkhazia itself, everything is brought from Krasnodar. They sell a small decorative melon, called pineapple variety. But it is really decorative, it is impossible to eat it - grass is grass!
Of course, nothing has changed here in 20 years. Carefully try Turkish (and not only) products from the Gagra market ... only eucalyptus brooms are probably natural and fragrant!
A great market. There is everything for every taste. But I consider the pearl of this market to be a seemingly inconspicuous cafe located in the parking area behind the barrier, next to the pharmacy. A wonderful family with soul and warmth makes the most delicious chebureks in the world and brews amazing coffee. Chebureks are huge, juicy, with broth, the freshest, made with you, will qualitatively saturate your stomachs and give you gastronomic pleasure. And with a glass of cold draft Sukhumi beer, it's just a brain rupture. One love.
Which canteens? What are you talking about? Chebureks and only chebureks! And coffee! And beer!
Try it and you won't regret it.
The advantage to proving my words is that the tables are always crowded and locals often sit at the tables, which is an indicator of the quality of the institution and the product.
I am delighted with this place.
We wish them all the best and prosperity.
We lived nearby. It was very convenient. All fruits and vegetables are available at affordable prices. There is a huge amount of spices in the indoor market. A normal selection of manufactured goods, beach accessories. In a row along the road there is a stall with beautiful carved wooden icons. The owner said that they are made at the Ilora temple and they are consecrated. Anyway, you can't check, but I took one and I really like it.
Prices are high, even for local fruits, vegetables and cheese. All the benefits for vacationers! There is no point in buying gifts and trudging to Moscow when you can buy here at the same prices.
And wine is not an understandable liquid at all! There are not so many grapes in Abkhazia as there are wines and chacha sold per season!
A very good market, you can bargain. In addition to the pavilion and shopping malls, fresh vegetables , fruits and berries , homemade cheeses, smoked meat are brought every day, and sometimes it is not very necessary to visit adjika. But you have to go to the delivery in the morning, before 12.00. almost everything is sold out. Spices deserve special praise, we buy a universal one, that is, with me, the seller pours 10 = 12 types of spices into one container, we and all our relatives and friends are delighted with this seasoning. When we are going to Abkhazia, they order everything, we buy for 5 = 6 thousand rubles. If someone is interested, I advise you to enter the central pavilion from the facade to the left of the first tray with spices, the seller is a woman of Slavic appearance, I cannot vouch for others.
Gagra Market is another attraction, no kidding. I especially like it when it's the local fruit season.
The covered pavilion sells sausages, local products, suluguni cheese, spices, chacha tea and churchkhela, of course.
There are a lot of souvenirs for sale, there are also things.
If you are in Gagra, then you definitely need to visit it. I recommend.
Everything remained as in the country under which it was built, just such nostalgia.they put cars here as they have to, but there is a lot of space, the prices are not shocking, nuts are much cheaper, there are a lot of them here, locals do not recommend buying wine here..
Very colorful. Straight market market. There is also a huge covered pavelen, there are also shopping malls, and there are just fruits with large boxes. There are fresh fish and smoked and fried and a whole world of spices, just a sea-ocean of spices. I was on Sunday, a concert of the Voronezh band was taking place at the market. They stood on the street and sang their songs. That's how I imagined the market. A sea of colors, goods and fun. I will not write about the disadvantages, they are available.
Abkhazia is a fertile land with sea, sun and warmth.

We visited the market in Gagra in December, there were a lot of tangerines at a price from 30 rubles to 70 rubles, which pleased us, there were a lot of shops with alcohol, the prices were adequate, but in the market building the homemade wine was so-so. I don't recommend taking cheese at all, I don't recommend taking cheese, homemade cheese is so absent, the one that is being resold from the store. There is a Crystal and Magnate store near Gagra towards Sukhum, we liked the Magnate better, it is better to visit it if the purpose of the visit to the market is alcohol and cheese. As it is, the atmosphere is pleasant and the sellers are friendly.
The market as a market) like all markets) there are many shops with souvenirs, products and all sorts of things) it is definitely worth visiting if you like to wander around such places and bargain with the local population)
I love this market, they sell wonderful seasonings,my old longtime friend, if you know who and what to buy, they sell fine cheese, but not everywhere, always fresh meat, ajinjukh is also not delicious everywhere, but for the new year tangerines, oranges,I definitely recommend this market to visit
I want to say about honey, they sell it in plastic bottles for 300 rubles, really of dubious quality...be sure to try it before taking it from that tasted jar/bottle...baking and possible sweets such as cakes are better not to even try at all, poisoning immediately. Chebureks with cheese also cause concern (do not be lazy to look and smell the oil on which they fry), I'm not talking about meat, even churchkhela was poisoned (or, she was lying at the seller for a long time and the flies most likely sat) you will work at the pharmacy (prices in the pharmacy are mega cosmic)I experienced all this horror for myself, I was a guinea pig...The family was not injured...We just haven't tried any of the above.
